It's not 'darkest dungeon', it's total fucking bullshit. Spiders are pretty much the only really crappy thing about this game. Blighted giants: spam weakening curse, guard your backline, reduce their accuracy, single target nuke. Hateful virago: mark her, beat her ass asap, spam dodge if possible. Swine skiver: bring him closer, stun him, nuke him. Cultist priests: build bleed resistance, stress recovery. Spiders: cross your fingers they don't spawn, or else you're screwed, cause you didn't equip AOE abilities and you can't clear marks. lol

@@crocketlawnchair259 this is true. Leper really shines in very lengthy fights due to having two permanent buff abilities. This makes him amazing for color of madness endless runs and fighting Brigand 16 pounder. The other notable place he is very good at is using his intimidate spam on bosses like Swine or prophet. Other than that you have to be smart and build around his weakness. Either bring a heavy stun team to setup for him or use Quickdraw trinket/quirk + accuracy item + early camp for more accuracy so that your leper can smash everything before the enemy gets to go.

Never had direct trouble from them, it's the fact that you can't really recover with any of them on the field that makes them just a damn nuisance every time.
I had a legendary arbalest go 100 to 0 on a boss quest, when i decided to invest points in dmg abilites in my party instead of something that ensures safety at night, coz i thought vestal and crusader with healing skills are more than enough to heal some minor dmg cause by a night raid. Boi was i wrong, 4 maggots attacked us in the dark, party got surprised and the arbalest from the dead last became our first rank, i literally couldn't even make a turn, she didn't have fully upgraded armor, i think she had lvl 3 or 4 armor set, thus her health was limited, but that's not the biggest issue, maggots literally crit her every fucking hit, it was 4 consecutive crits in a row, i just watched her hp melt down, the 3rd hit put her on death's threshold, the 4th sent her right to the netherworld. Had to abandon the whole quest, what's funniest i instantly slaughetered the maggots right after arbalest died, coz it was finally my turn by then, my crusader killed 2, bounty hunter another one and the vestal crit on the last one. Literally closed the game after abandoning the quest, the rng is real.

Great video but I gotta say, with a party like this that has no speed and a lack of reliability in ranged damage and stuns, you really open yourself up to spiders. Their weakness is that any medium-fast character outpaces and kills them before they can do any real damage.
aye, for the benefits of some nasty lance attacks from the crusaders, as well as the strong party buffs from the vestal due to the entire party being religious, i do very nastily open myself up to any fast attack foes such as dogs, spiders, bandits etc. the team also suffers from a lack of bleed/blight dots, which means anyone with a substantial amount of protection means that i have to spend an age hacking away at em. on the flip side, the team is preety stable in most situations. high hp, good raw damage output, good heals from the vestal and camp buffs makes it preety substantial, especially against the undead (Deus Vult crusaders ftw) as well as a bit of mid combat stress heals from the crusaders and light buffs from them and the vestal gives a bit of leeway against the darkness and the monsterous visages that are exposed to em.
It's even better when you get good enough to realize that the vestal was never in any actual danger of dying, since she was never at 0 hp with no action ready that turn.
Already happened the following to me: Killed the boss. Then killed the Collector. Everyone full health. Then 4 surprised spiders dodged everyone, then 8 critical hits in a row, before my turn, in the vestal and poison finished her.
I am very surprised that the last hit didn't miss, allowing the spider to re-crit the Vestal onto death's door, where she dies on the first check from the blight.
Those leper feels. One of my favourite characters, but i also can't tell you how often a shit situation turned deadly just because of their awful accuracy.
Spiders will either do 5 damage and get demolished in 1 turn or they will double crit your favorite character who will of course go next and immediately deathblow from the blight.
It's not difficult to accumulate crests - you get a fair number after every run - but without gold, you won't be doing any decent runs to get crests to begin with
I just watched this today, proceeded to play Darkest Dungeon, then got ambushed by spiders after camping and i shit you not, they webbed my leper, stunned, marked, blighted with multiple crits before i could even heal him back up, killed him. I’m seething rn lol, but laughing at the irony.
The worst part is when you surprise the spiders. If you can't wipe them up in the first round you can potentially get 8 spider bites or spits in a row.
Yeah, the Surprise mechanic is pretty fucked... Wish they would rework it. At that point I'm as scared of getting a Surprise attack on enemies as I am of getting Surprised myself.
Surprising enemies is even worse than getting surprised. They often get to have two turns in a row because of how poorly programmed the Surprise mechanic is.

Yes, he ususally goes last every round, but that's not really a down side, since it means that you can at least predict when he's going to have his turn... But I was moreso refering to when he actually does the killing. If he hits, he hits hard, so he's fast at killing, even if his actual speed is very slow.
I honestly don’t find spiders to be that annoying. It’s usually the bone courtiers and Cultist Acolytes that I’m worried about if I fail to stun them on round 1.
All of the mob enemies, like the rabid dogs or the maggots, always gave me so much more trouble than they were probably designed to do. Also, heavy weapons leper is now my favorite.
I never have problems with spiders... Whenever they show up I always think "Oh ok, it's just a bunch of spiders". Feels like a free pass out of an otherwise difficult fight.
Spiders either are a blessing that can be killed quickly then stunned and exploited for heals or they will just target out one character and crit, then they'll probably end up dying to blight.

only the Vestal had blight and needed healing, antivenom is better when you're sure you'll have to go trough multiple death's door checks before being able to heal or when your entire party needs healing and/or is blighted
That's a pretty tame spider clip. Most of my experience with spider shenanigans involves a character just plain dying before I can actually respond or do anything.
Hey lucky you, I once had a run when they also picked my vestal except I couldn't heal in time and she was dead from the first poison tick. I had to put down the game and not return for like months because it was my best Vestal and the first time I even stepped into a medium dungeon, and to make it worse, it was the first room I chose to enter.
The RNG is what makes the game unpredictable and unique in each run, you'll never know whats going to happen, the game is about making the most of a bad situation. Its about playing smart, not hard.

Yep. Spiders were the reason I started looking at how to play the game most effectively. Never got killed by them, but they did this so often that I just had to get all of my characters’ speeds up and increase my surprise chance

@@pizzacarl6955 The speed stat is absolute garbade in DD... Yes, he ususally goes last every round, but that's not really a down side, since it means that you can at least predict when he's going to have his turn...
But I was moreso refering to when he actually does the killing. If he hits, he hits hard, so he's fast at killing, even if his actual speed is very slow.

I honestly don’t find spiders to be that annoying. It’s usually the bone courtiers and Cultist Acolytes that I’m worried about if I fail to stun them on round 1.
All of the mob enemies, like the rabid dogs or the maggots, always gave me so much more trouble than they were probably designed to do.
Also, heavy weapons leper is now my favorite.
I never have problems with spiders... Whenever they show up I always think "Oh ok, it's just a bunch of spiders". Feels like a free pass out of an otherwise difficult fight.

Spiders either are a blessing that can be killed quickly then stunned and exploited for heals or they will just target out one character and crit, then they'll probably end up dying to blight.

for those wondering, a spider deals 5-10 damage on the spit attack, how ever, it deals +100% against marked targets and that was a crit
first real attempt on lvl 5 dungeon, get into fight with 4 spid0rs they all gang up on my highwayman and kill him before i could do shit =(

only the Vestal had blight and needed healing, antivenom is better when you're sure you'll have to go trough multiple death's door checks before being able to heal or when your entire party needs healing and/or is blighted

Most of my experience with spider shenanigans involves a character just plain dying before I can actually respond or do anything.

try guarding, the spiders only hit one target at a time so they will never hit the healer if the healer is guarded.
Hey lucky you, I once had a run when they also picked my vestal except I couldn't heal in time and she was dead from the first poison tick. I had to put down the game and not return for like months because it was my best Vestal and the first time I even stepped into a medium dungeon, and to make it worse, it was the first room I chose to enter.
I love the atmosphere and artistic style of the game. Just 10/10 but the RNG in this game makes me go NOPE. Not my type of gameplay.

The RNG is what makes the game unpredictable and unique in each run, you'll never know whats going to happen, the game is about making the most of a bad situation.

Yep. Spiders were the reason I started looking at how to play the game most effectively. Never got killed by them, but they did this so often that I just had to get all of my characters’ speeds up and increase my surprise chance
