    Just picked up the 2021 Autobahn manual in pure grey. I looove.....this car. Perfect to zip around the city; fun to drive, and easy to park!

    That infotainment system is ah-mazing! I can't believe all the things you can adjust from there. Top shelf. Really well done, Volkswagen.

    I heard conflicting opinions about the audio. But not a deal breaker.
    I’m currently leasing Accord 2.0 sport manual. I love it. The gear is just great. No issues at all. Very fast it feels like a rocket especially in second gear until you get to 60 mph and 6500 rpm. It really is satisfying. Clutch is a bit soft but comfier in city driving. Wind and road noise too high over 70 mph.

    Great review. Like that you show the dash and not just you, like, ahem, some others. We bought one, six months in, and just started a long term ownership experience vlog. We are not VW fanboys but always wanted a GTI and the GLI was better for us. So we think we can be impartial.

    Nice review, thanks! If you would have to choose between this and Accord Sport 2.0 manual what would you pick and why?

    • @DriversOnly
      @DriversOnly  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Me personally I would pick the Accord Sport 2.0t 6spd. It is much bigger, the suspension is more comfortable and the the clutch/engine is butter smooth. Not to mention it also is much faster. However the trade off is, the exterior looks loses to the GLI and the GLI has a better infotainment and gauge cluster. Guess it just depends on what your looking for.

    Just found Drivers Only today, really gets to the point - THANKS. Question for anyone here - I want more early torque than GLI, GTI, SI, WRX - but dont want Mustang GT. What else do I look at?

    • @elijahknight9768
      @elijahknight9768 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don R best bet is to get a tune. i have a tune on my GLI and my torque curve has changed vs. stock. you do sacrifice gas milage obviously, but i would look into what tune does what your looking for the best. i wish they had the gli in awd. WRX might be my next after this.

      Don R If ultimate performance is your goal - i’d do the WRX only bc AWD. if you want a nicer daily, i’d get the GLI.

    The best compact sedan

  • @scottzappa9314
    @scottzappa9314 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You feel like it needs more? So you're not correct about the relative speed of the 2 different trans. And there's no issues with wheel spinning in the auto if you launch it. The 7 speed auto is faster 0-60 at 5.6 seconds (Car and Driver) and over 100 MPH/14.2 in the quarter. No it does not need more. It will fairly easily keep up with a WRX which is an inferior car. You're also wrong about the fuel economy, C & D got 36 on highway. Although i haven't driven one yet but I will soon.

    Good reveiw but vw has major reliability issues and residual value

    • @drewski1441
      @drewski1441 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What reliability issues? My current car is a 2017 jetta tsi 1.4 l have 132,000 miles with zero problems. My car before was a 2013 jetta tdi traded up that car with 156,000 miles zero problems.

    • @BeyondTheTestDrive
      @BeyondTheTestDrive 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We bought one ourselves as we always wanted a VW but was afraid of reliability and maintenance costs. We started a long term ownership vlog to capture our experience and to explore if the reputation is true. We do have one issue 8k in, fairly minor, but no other car we’ve owned new has had any such issue. It has to do with the brakes.

  • @wranglerlife4ever42
    @wranglerlife4ever42 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would take the 2020 Civic Si sedan over this. The updates the Si got for 2020 make it tough to beat for $25,990 msrp. Plus, the fuel economy of 26/36 (city/hwy) on the Si is incredible given the performance it delivers. You can have your cake and eat it too with the Si

    • @DriversOnly
      @DriversOnly  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When i ranked the two, the overall score came out to be the same. You are right, the SI is cheaper and gets better MPG and I like the clutch is better. However the GLI has a much better interior especially when it comes to the infotainment, digital cockpit, seats, dash...etc...but the trade off is it costs more. Really depends on what your looking for.

      Got my GLI 35th Anniversary Edition for under $23,000 with the DSG Transmission. Hitting almost 40 mpg on the highway and averaging 29 in the city. Plus it is faster and handles better than the SI or the Accord Sport.

      The Beats audio sucks. It's ok at 1/3 volume. Once it gets to half and above, it starts distorting. It needs an audio upgrade for sure.

    • @yxflier8409
