We were just in NRT. There were so many people from late flights who were trying to pick up their physical JR Pass, the JR ‘annex”/after-hours ticket office had to stay opened. (Definitely a lot of them missed the last NEX train to Tokyo.)
@@nateshf9303 hi! One question if for example you did online immigration, quarantine and got the QR Code and go thru the machine at the airport, how do we get the "temporary visitor" visa stamp on our passport in order for us to show when exchange JR Pass voucher? Do we have to go thru the manned immigration section? Thanks in advance for any help
@@serinaikeow4082 So what actually happened was that in between the quarantine (blue screen) and custom (QR code) staged which went fast, all non-Japanese citizens still need to go through an immigration officer who sat in a booth, took our thumb prints and headshots and put the paper stamp on our passports just like pre-pandemic old days. This was a very familiar step for us.
While planning my trip to Japan, this was one of the first videos I watched to learn a few things about navigating the streets of Japan. I am really appreaciated this information because it is one hundred percent quality. I have recently visited Japan, I loved it and I hope to visit very soon again. Thank you very much for videos like this.
Your video is very detail and it makes the trains seem to be less intimidating to get into the city. What about sending luggage ahead of time to your destination?
Great video. May we suggest if possible, you could also do videos on the following: 1. By Keisei train from Narita Airport to Toei Asakusa Station via Sky Access Line 2. For Japan Rail Pass holders, besides reserving shinkasen seats at ticket offices, how to reserve seats using the ticket machines. Once again, thanks a lot for all the informative videos. Really appreciated it.
My wife and I just returned from Japan and I used a vending machine to reserve and print all my tickets (a lot of them). It was fun and easy to use but here are some important tips: 1. Get to a machine early in the morning if you can to beat the crowd. 2) Try to memorize your passport #(s) because you have to enter them over and over again. Also know that each pass corresponds to the right passport holder so don’t enter the wrong person’s. 3) This is a major downside- You cannot cancel or undo (or book overlapping trips) once the tickets are issued so you have go in to a JR office to do it which is a pain because lines can be long unless you’re at a small station.
Please continue to do these type of informative content for Japan travels. Thanks so much and please dont stop creating content. Love and support from Philippines
Yes, the video was very detailed and very understandable . I've been to Japan before and I wish your video had been available then. Hopefully, going back this year and wanted to see how it has changed. Please keep doing more videos perhaps travel within Japan.
I booked a last minute ticket to Japan and am arriving there in 2 days! So far your channel has not only reassured me on what to do when I get to Tokyo, but has also alerted me to a scam that I ell for in time for me to be able to take some steps to get my money back and buy an official JR pass. Thank you so much for your work on these videos!
I am flying to Narita in 3 days, on Friday, April 7. In the last few weeks I watched tons of videos on arrival to Japan. This is so far the most comprehensive and detailed video I watched. In fact, I am going to download it to my iPad and watch again on my flight from Vancouver to Tokyo. Thank you so much again!❤
I really liked your video is perfectly well explained, during the pandemic we couldn't travel anywhere but my wife and I really want to visit Tokyo. greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽
I used to purposefully book (and then often pay more for) trips into Haneda just to avoid the trip from Narita into the city. Now I book into Narita specifically to ride this train. It's such a wonderful and fast ride, and a great way to start and end a trip to tokyo.
Thank you heaps for this video (& all the videos you do!) I’ve been watching vlogs of everything Japan lately because of our upcoming trip to japan in June. I’m excited but also nervous…
Check where you stay in Tokyo city, you should consider taking local train which might take 10 -20 longer, but the fare is more than half of Narita Express.
Excellent video! Doumo arigatou gozaimashita! I will be there in februari 2024 and am buying a discount ticket online.. As i can see in your video i should be able to exchange my online bought ticket at the ticket machine..
Arigato. A million thanks. We will be traveling to Japan for a cruise next Sept. Your upload is much appreciated. My anxiety level is much lessened now. We are definitely taking the Narita Express to Shinjuku.

1:48. Misleasding spent time. Most people do NOT want to reach Nippori Station, but Tokyo Station (or Shinjuku Station). If so, you should include the Nippori to Tokyo or Shinjuku ride time, and add a transfer. Good luck carrying your luggage!
This is the best video for the first time traveler to Tokyo. I wish I watched this before I went Tokyo through narita airport earlier September and ticket counter line was very long
Very helpful because now I know that i have the option to avoid the line and go to Tokyo Station by bus (1300 Yen) and after the exchange proceed to Kyoto by Nozomi. Yesterday, I saw the Haneda option (with Suica card etc.). So I have the flexibility and the Narita option isn't better as I had thought originally because of the long lines. Thank you.
Thank you! Very helpful. Very informative. Well produced. I’ve never use Narita Express before. Only use the bus. Will take the train on next visit to Narita which is April 2023 🥰

Very detail and clear advise provided. Will it be cheaper getting tokyo wide pass for 12th Jan 2023 from Narita - Tokyo station - Gala Yuzawa. and back to Tokyo on the 4th day (14 Jan 2023) ??
Excellent video, thank you very much for posting this video! If I want to go to Osaka from Narita Airport, what’s your recommendation to get there. Thank you!🙂
Great video. I am just wondering the best way to get from Tokyo Station to Narita Airport for morning flights? As my flight is at 9:30am I would ideally like to get to Narita for 6:30am however I cannot see a Narita Express that would arrive that early.
you can take the bus i mentioned at the end of the video. i think the bus starts around 5am or so. the bus ticket office is not open yet at that time, so you'll have to pay directly (cash) at the bus stop. i think it's bus stop number 7 at Tokyo station (Yaesu exit side). i tried it last time and it was more pleasant than i imagined :) (even when i'm not a bus/car person^^)
Another alternative option is the regular Keisei line to Nippori or Ueno. It takes 20 minutes longer than the Skyliner but it also only costs a bit over 1000 Yen.
I was in Japan a few days ago and the screen in Tokyo station is very different. Also I am still not able to find out why you have to purchase two tickets which I believe the machine you used had a sticker on the right of it talking about basic and reserve fair. Long story short we had our seats 💺 but when we arrived at airport we could not go through the ticket machine, the machine ate our ticket and then a person guided us to a ticket counter. Lucky we had receipt but were still asked to pay more. Very confusing and still not sure why the machine let me select a seat but not through the exit gate. There could be some improvement on this experience and you cannot expect new people to know all this.
Hi, thanks for the information, all is so clear and nice. Thanks alot. One cuestion, for the discount tickets, i need to buy it online or could buy it in the machines in the airport? and again, thanks for the information this will help me alot. Big hug :D
Thank you so much for watching!🙏 you can buy the discounted tickets at the machines at the airport too. in that case, make sure you select the "Discounted Tickets" menu at 5:27. if you arrive during working hours, there will be staff there to help you out too.
Thanks! just get the cheapest sim card available since they all use the same network. plus you get free wifi everywhere now including stations, trains, buses, convenience stores... but sim cards may be of help if you travel to different regions.
I'm going to stay with a friend when I arrive in Japan. Seeing how I can take the Narita Express to Tachikawa. Looks like I can avoid having to swapping between trains in Shinjuku.
If you don't have a pass, Skyliner is preferable for many. Its fast and comfortable. I have been using Skyliner the last few years instead of the Narita Express.
Outstanding video thank you for taking the time to make this. We are taking our first trip to Tokyo, but living in Bangkok we are quite a custom to the hustle and bustle yet bkk tiny in comparison . . Thanks again Much appreciated.🙏
Hi Yoko! Konnichiwa! I’m so glad to find your channel, thank you for creating this type of video. I am going visit Nihon again after 17 years! This time, will be via Haneda Airport. I hope Narita system same way as Haneda. Totally informative! Thank you!
Hi! So glad you liked the video! HANEDA Airport is a quite different with Narita Airport. Please check out this video instead: th-cam.com/video/2ctgeiayE8k/w-d-xo.html depending on your destination, you might want to consider the Keikyu trains too.
This video is worth gold! Thank you very much for such valuable information! One question, can the "two-way discount ticket" that you mention at 12:50 also be purchased from vending machines?
Glad you found it useful! Thank you so much for watching!🙏 yes you can buy the 2-way discount ticket at the vending machines. see 5:22, you can select "Discounted tickets" and select the 2-way discount ticket from there.
@@ONEGOODDREAM Just one quick question. Does the ticket vending machine for the Narita Express require exact change? Can I put 5 x ¥1000 for a ¥4070 ticket? Thanks so much!
Hello Yoko, thanks for making this detail video.🙏 Yoko, I have question about the Narita Express & the Keisei Skyliner going to Tokyo. If my hotel locate in Ginza area then which train I should take & which station I need to get off for my Hotel Yaenomidori in Ginza. Thanks in advance for your support!🙏
Thanks for the video! But if I already have the JRpass, do I need to reserve my seat in some way or I'm good to go straight to the platform? Because I heard somewhere that you need to book a seat even if I already have the JRpass ticket. If true, where should I do that?
if you have a jr pass, you can use it as a passenger ticket, meaning you can insert it at the gate to get on and off a normal JR train, or to get on a bullet train (shinkansen) and use a non-reserved seat. no reservation is needed. But for express trains or shinkansen where you want to take /use a reserved seat, you need to make a reservation for those reserved seats (because remember the jr pass is just a passenger ticket, not a reserved ticket). for reservation, you can come to JR ticket offices/counters, show your jr pass and the staff will issue the reserved ticket for you. Or, you can use your JR pass and passport at ticket machines to print out the reserved ticket yourself. note that the reserved tickets are just for you to know where to sit on the trains, you still use your jr pass at the ticket gates. hope this helps.
Thanks for making this video. I've watched 2-3 videos on the same subject and yours is the most detailed, clear and informative! you speak slowly and clearly and very easy to follow. By the way when I buy my ticket at the vending machine and I wish to pay in cash, does it give change?
This is an awesome video. We’ll be going to Japan in a couple of months and this is very handy. We’ve been there 5yrs ago and forgot how we did it. Can you purchase NEX or Shinkansen ticket a few days in advance?
Hello! Thank you for always having informative videos. We’ll be arriving at Narita Airport at 21:00. With customs and immigration, I think we won’t have enough time to get to the last N’EX. Any recommendations on how to get to Shinjuku Station around this time? We’ll be staying close to Ochiai or Nakai Station. Thank you in advance.
normally customs and immigration shouldn't take more than 30min...but if you can't get on the NEX, you can get a bus to Shinjuku station and get a taxi to your destination.
Muchas gracias por la información, puedes hacer uno de como usar los "Limousine Bus, son naranjas" para llegar a Tokio desde el aeropuerto, te lo agradecería mucho. Thank you very much for the information, you can do one of how to use the "Limousine Bus, they are orange" to get to Tokyo from the airport, I would really appreciate it.
I love your video and how you explain it, it makes most of my worries go away for our trip to Tokyo in March. We will only be there for two days. From Narita how long does it take to get to Shibuya? And how do i go from Shibuya to Shinjuku? Technically we want to visit the Tokyo station, Shibuya and Shinjuku. 😊 would appreciate your help on that planning.
glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you so much!🙏 The Narita Express can take you directly to Shibuya station (no switch) in about 1hr20min. For Tokyo, Shibuya and Shinjuku, the JR trains will be your friends! especially the Yamanote line. Just get yourself a Welcome Suica card at the airport, scan it at all the ticket gates and let it do the job paying ticket fares for you. or you can get the card on your phone in advance too, here's how: th-cam.com/video/VFl83UJH0gY/w-d-xo.html

Hi Yoko!
Please check out this video instead: th-cam.com/video/2ctgeiayE8k/w-d-xo.html
depending on your destination, you might want to consider the Keikyu trains too.
@@ONEGOODDREAM thank you so much, I appreciated 😊
@@ONEGOODDREAM Haneda looks easier than Narita. Been to Narita at least 8X, last trip in 2006. Will be in Tokyo, Osaka, & Nagoya. Can’t wait! 🤗
@@ONEGOODDREAM great! Thanks!
Such a thoughtful, fantastic video. Thank you for this! Love all the vending machines : )
Thank you :)
@@ONEGOODDREAM Just one quick question. Does the ticket vending machine for the Narita Express require exact change? Can I put 5 x ¥1000 for a ¥4070 ticket? Thanks so much!
@@vedderfan87 don't worry, it does not require exact change, it accepts all bills and coins (except 1 yen and 5 yen coins)
Hello Yoko, thanks for making this detail video.🙏
Yoko, I have question about the Narita Express & the Keisei Skyliner going to Tokyo. If my hotel locate in Ginza area then which train I should take & which station I need to get off for my Hotel Yaenomidori in Ginza.
Thanks in advance for your support!🙏
Thank you so much!🙏 you can take the Narita Express or the bus to Tokyo Station and then take a taxi or walk to your hotel.
Thank so much again. Super useful info. Regarding luggage you said 2 pieces allowed, did you say 30 Kilos each?
no worries about the kilos, as long as you can carry your luggage, it's ok.
Wow thank you so much for this video! It is very helpful!
Thank you so much!🙏 Glad it was helpful!
Excellent video very helpful. How do we purchase a green car seat?
Go to the JR ticket sales office at the airport and major JR train stations .
in the video, at 5:57 you can select the green car seat.

Thanks for making this video. I've watched 2-3 videos on the same subject and yours is the most detailed, clear and informative! you speak slowly and clearly and very easy to follow. By the way when I buy my ticket at the vending machine and I wish to pay in cash, does it give change?
thank you so much! glad you found it helpful! yes, all the vending machines do give change.
practical advice esp for someone travelling alone with limited Japanese
thank you!
Your videos are well researched and very detailed. Thanks so much.
thank you so much for watching!^^
Excellent video. Thank you.
Question: How do you get from Tokyo train stations to your hotel?
1) walk
2) take subway
3) take train
4) take taxi
5) take bus
Anything except a Taxi it is very expensive.
Thank you for an outstanding video! Can we pay with our digital PASMO card for these tickets?
Thank you! 🙏 you need to buy an express ticket for this train.
This is an awesome video. We’ll be going to Japan in a couple of months and this is very handy. We’ve been there 5yrs ago and forgot how we did it.
Can you purchase NEX or Shinkansen ticket a few days in advance?
hi, thank you! yes you can purchase NEX and shinkansen tickets days in advance, even at the ticket vending machines.
What’s the best way to travel from Narita Airport to Osaka? We have JR Pass.
thank you so much
this is so useful and easy to understand
Thank you so much!🙏
Very detailed thank you
Thank you so much!🙏
Amazing video, thank you. I wish I had seen this on my trip to Japan in 2019.
Thank you so much!🙏
Excellent video. 🥰
Thank you so much!🙏
Muchas gracias por la información, puedes hacer uno de como usar los "Limousine Bus, son naranjas" para llegar a Tokio desde el aeropuerto, te lo agradecería mucho.
Thank you very much for the information, you can do one of how to use the "Limousine Bus, they are orange" to get to Tokyo from the airport, I would really appreciate it.
thanks for the idea!^^
very informativehow about if im from ofuna station, where can i find the desinated time of departure of narita express train to the airport?thanks..
Thank you very informative.❤
Thank you so much!🙏
I love your video and how you explain it, it makes most of my worries go away for our trip to Tokyo in March. We will only be there for two days. From Narita how long does it take to get to Shibuya?
And how do i go from Shibuya to Shinjuku?
Technically we want to visit the Tokyo station, Shibuya and Shinjuku. 😊 would appreciate your help on that planning.
Wtf how i still dont know anythng lel
glad you enjoyed the video!
