Air New Zealand NZ101 : Flying from Auckland to Sydney

The next part of my journey takes me to Australia. After stopping over in Melbourne and Sydney on my way to Asia, I figured we might as well visit those cities in detail, especially before the pandemic tightened its grip on the aviation world. I also took the opportunity to fly Air New Zealand on an international route, something which I haven't done since the very first season! Onboard this flight, I fly a 2 years old Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, ZK-NZM.
A very early morning flight meant that we had to get to Auckland Airport as soon as we woke up. We checked in, got our boarding passes, and proceeded towards the departures area. There weren't that many shops opened as it was too early but after some breakfast, we patiently waited at the gate lounge. The lack of windows and positioning of the airbridge meant that it was hard to get a proper glimpse of the aircraft. Eventually boarding commenced at Gate 7 and I settled in Seat 57K, which had one of the windows missing. Great start. The violet lighting in the cabin was enough to put me in a relaxed mood, and I was pleasantly surprised to see my name on the IFE screen. Shortly after, we pushed back from the gate, taxied to the runway and took off towards Sydney. There was no meals service as it was only reserved for the customers who paid a bit more than we did, and there was plenty of entertainment to keep us entertained, although some required a fee which I felt to be quite stingy. There was also no free WiFi onboard which I thought there would have, especially since it's a Dreamliner, but oh well. I was asleep for some of the flight anyway. We then began to descend into Sydney and landed in beautiful weather. Our plane taxied and parked at Gate 51 of Terminal 1, the same gate that I departed from on my previous flight from Sydney. Once we cleared immigration, we caught a shuttle bus to another terminal for our connecting flight. I had a really nice time onboard Air New Zealand and I would definitely fly them again in the future! See you in the next one :)
