When I saw this thing in Lidl I just HAD to have it!
Bought it even before I bought a circular saw lmao.
One thing I will say is my Titan Circular Saw (bought not long after) is quite weighty so as you correctly said in the video you need to focus on pushing it a bit against the rail guide. Not TOO much or you will push the blade in and potentially cause kickback.
Great video. I love Parkside products and am somewhat addicted to them. Bought 6 more clamps from them for amazing £6 deal for a pack of 2 long ones. So I bought 2 packs and 1 pack of 2 short ones and 2 very small ones for smaller jobs.

They could have made this far more desirable and sold more if they were long enough to fit a standard 1220mm sheet. Most people would probably quite happily pay a few £ more for the extra length.

Yes and no. For me for example the added length would just make it more cumbersome to use, as I don't deal with big sheets. But they could have mede 2 separate sizes and make everyone happy.

Thanks for the video review. I'll pick one of these up later today. Ta.

What is the maximum length you can clamp it? would be nice if it would fit on a standaard sheet 1220mm wide

    • @UltimateDIY
      @UltimateDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

The maximum is 1 meter, sadly. Absolute max is 101cm.

Interesting how a simple tool astonishes us, humans.. But, as you mention, try cutting something in a straight line without tools, and you're DOOMED!!! lol

You did not test the most important characteristic of such a rail: the amount of play on either side. Even 1 mm of play can ruin a piece of furniture.

This tool is no way near at that level of precision. It's not for professional use, it's just for using around the house to get straighter cuts compared to free hand.

You TOTALLY miss the point of this tool here.
I have this tool and it is totally useless, as the leinght is only 100cm.
EVEY standard sheet of plywood is 125cm with and if they would make it a bit longer it would be a great tool.
But they save on material and make it laying in every shed for years being unused.

I used it lots of times, so I guess YOU bought the wrong tool for the type of job you mostly do.
Yes, it could be longer, or they could have made 2 lenght versions, but you can't say I missed the point, when the tool does not fit your needs.

I think you totally missed the point, when you bought a tool unsuitable for your needs, as surely you could have seen it was too short, prior to purchase: just my opinion of course. I have one of these clamp/sawing guide rails and find it brilliant for all manner of jobs : )
