I feel like if my child and their spouse didn't want me at their wedding I'd take a step back and try to figure out why, what I've done to cause them to feel that way towards me. I have a high drama, victim playing, delusional(literally) mother in and law and she refuses to understand not everything is about her not does is need to be and she refuses to take a step back and accept that SHE is the problem and SHE is the reason the relationship between myself, my husband and ALL her other kids and their spouses has broken down. She's not only came after me and my husband she's also tried causing problems with her other 2 sons and their spouses. Because of that her youngest son and his wife no longer speak to her at all and threatened to call the cops of her if she ever comes back around them. It's BAD the things she does and says but to hear her talk about it it's ALWAYS someone else that's caused the problem or are in the wrong she refuses to take accountability for the role she has played and the problems she's caused herself and all of us. It's weird tho because she doesn't act the same way towards her daughter and her spouse, it's literally just her 3 boys and their spouses that she inserts herself and causes problems and has issues with.

If the woman isn't right you have to let your adult son figure that out on his own. I understand as moms we don't want to see our children hurt, but they have to go through life live it, and learn it. They only learn so much from our teachings, most everyone wants to experience and figure life out for themselves.

The fiancé can sit there calmly. She’s got her future husband on her side. The mother is losing this battle and has lost contact with her son. Due to those circumstances she’s more likely to get worked up.
I really think we don’t know enough of how this all started to make a judgement. I do think the mother “looks” worse here, but we really don’t know the history.
Also just the daughter in law making rules that her fiancé mother can’t come to the wedding is ridiculous and controlling. I would never have done that to my husband.

Oh, I recognize this mother, this was the mother I grew up with, and when my brother married his third wife, a Russian lady who is very nice my mother reacted, just like this one. She created all kinds of conflict and drama directed at my brothers new wife because my mother was very jealous and wanted all the attention of my brother who was her favorite child. This is narcissism and it’s ugly.

    • @Princess-us5so

Exactly and I felt a bit bad for the daughter-in-law because everything was skewed against her. Even her son himself said that his Mom acts like a jealous ex girlfriend. That speaks volumes! And that seemed to be brushed over which kind of boggles my mind! Every time the daughter-in-law and even the daughter in laws mother got any chance to speak there She goes standing up mean and hateful interrupting them cutting them off and yelling. And got the whole narrative skewed against them. Yeah that lady is a classic narcissist I definitely see things for what they truly are. There is no way in God's green earth that your own son will agree for you to not be in the wedding and a daughter-in-law for you not to be in the wedding for absolutely no reason! And she thought that if she could be loud talk the most, and try to have the narrative skewed against her as much as possible notice how there's mainly hurtful quotes from the daughter in law two words to the mother-in-law which I guarantee you they are responses and barely anything the other way around, and try to get the audience and the narrative on her side. Got the daughter-in-law looking crazy and looking like the bad guy while she plays the victim. Got even Dr Phil and the audience falling for it! Classic narcissism!

She has absolutely no intention of fixing this situation because it's what she wants. Her mom goes along with it because she's still in the circle. This dynamic is going on all the time and I'm pretty shocked you totally let her get away with it. The family members who have bailed from this unhappy wedding are the only ones who assessed the situation and the "mean girl" bride's intentions correctly--Push the guy's mom out of the picture. The mother in law is in over her head and really doesn't have a clue. She only knows she's in the worst pain of her life, and it's just getting started. Never never name call or send unhinged emails because THAT becomes the issue and their total justification for further mistreatment of the mother in law. The son is a loser who is blinded by the trophy wife. He's changed mom and he ain't coming back. Spend his inheritance, get into therapy and try not to let it ruin the rest of your life.

He said himself that he and his mother never had a good relationship growing up. He said himself that she crossed boundaries on more than one occasion. The daughter in law shouldn't use that kind of language. You can be hurt by people and put up a boundary but remain cordial in your exchanges or if you have to vent, call your bestie for a few minutes and vent. The edit did not show the mother-in-laws nasty emails but Dr Phil said he has like 80 pages of it. I think they are both wrong. The mother for her immature handling of literally everything. The daughter in law for her immature handling too. I think the bride is right to cut her out of the wedding because who wants someone who hates them at their wedding? All that son needs to do is give his Mom a big hug every time he sees her. Tell her how much he loves her, & that she just needs to give them space to grow. Tell Mom not to say anything hurtful or demeaning to his fiancée ever. Tell her this gently, but firmly. Tell her she’ll always have a place in his heart, & he’ll always appreciate & love her for everything she did for him. Then he needs to tell his fiancé not to ever say anything bad about his Mom. And to never disrespect her. Tell blondie to help him ease his Mom’s anxiety & to not exacerbate the situation in any way. Kindness from both sides is needed. Apologies & forgiveness should happen too. Then start anew & move forward. Everyone stayin in their lane.

But the more i kept quiet, She knew he had told me to. So she only got more rude and demeaning with her comments. After a few years, it felt like i was walking in there, covering my head, for her to take swings at me, while i couldnt fight back.

Could the daughter and law and son have responded better? Absolutely, but they are responding to the way the mother is, it doesn't exist in a vacuum, and what it really comes down to is mother's like this struggle with new boundaries and healthy boundaries, they look at the relationship changing as it being less loving, but when the mom said he has enough love for both of us, that's not totally true, and they are totally different types of love. He's gonna see his wife every single day, he's gonna have kids with her, he is supposed to forsake everyone for her, and the mom takes that as "well j guess he just doesn't love me anymore." she wants to compete with the daughter in law because she doesn't like the change that happens when a man marries a women, there's less room for anyone in his life, you can't just show up unannounced, you can't have the same freedom you once had, because he has another person to consider and they have a life completely separate from you and the rest of the world, and for a mom that's emotionally enmeshed with her son, that feels like "he doesn't love me anymore."

Why is the future wife even involved in this? THE SON needs to deal with his mother. He needs to decide which side he's on, or fix it so there aren't 'sides'. If it was me, I'd move far a way. and not leave a forwarding address.

What you all aren’t taking into consideration is that this mother has only one child and has had his best interests in mind all his life! I agree, it’s time for her to back off from his life and let him make his mistakes be HIS mistakes and not about her. Moms should be there to pick up the pieces of a son’s life, not cut off from him and be unable to share in his happiness or sadness!

Interesting how so many here are against the mom. But just imagine you have a child you raised with all your love and then comes a stranger who is able to alianate him from you that he doesn't even talk to you for months!! Mom have said things in anger and frustration she shouldn't have, ok, but any parent would feel the same way. And that girl is so disrespectful! Even if she was all the way right, still, it is his mom!
Hear the aunt what she says! The son has changed after meeting that girl!

It’s a harsh way to put it but the main point is correct! If your entire personality is your kid(s), you will be incredibly lost when they get married. You have to have more to live for or you will resent the person who married your kid and basically took away your life. I’ve seen it with my own mom.

I have an extreme ex mother in law whom wrecked my marriage caused my ex husband to leave me homeless with no clothes no nothing and take our kids out from under me ... he's now remarried , he's witnessed his mother treat his new wife the same way she treated me and well luckily he apologized for the trauma and pain he caused me and for not defending our marriage or me. I said I'll forgive you, but only of you love your new wife enough to not let your mom ruin your marriage the way she did ours and if she doesn't want your mom around you LISTEN to her because your mother is overly toxic and abusive and has and unhealthy attachment to my kids and her son. She gets mad if I see my kids on the holidays and if they aren't with her I get punished in some way shape or form needless to say I haven't had a holiday with my kids in 7 years cause he won't make his mommy understand that I'm their mother and she is not she is the grandmother she doesn't get dibs on my kids before I do when it comes to making memories.

I'm sorry for what you went through. My MIL was the same with her three sons. She caused my sister in law to be homeless so she could have her grand daughter to herself. She spent more than 10 years on the street, became an addict after having a nervous breakdown & committed suicide. She just never got over losing her daughter. My MIL contributed to the breakdown of another son's marriage. My husband & I walked away. She died 20 years later alone. I hope you can get this woman's influence away from your children before she turns them against you. That's your right
