It's absolutely horrible that that mother blames the father's absence on the daughter. She has probably been emotionally verbally and mentally abusive to that poor girl her whole life. I really hope she moves on and leaves her abusive mother behind!

A social worker appeared at my door one day because 'someone' had accused me of abusing my children. I immediately said, "All of my kids happen to be at home right now. I'll stay where I am while you find them around the house and in the back yard and you can speak with them privately." She wasn't there but a hot minute before she said the 'report of abuse' was obviously bogus. Shortly after that incident, I moved my kids to another state and never spoke to my mother again. My son is 40 and I used to worry too much about him when I didn't need to and he was too polite to tell me , over time I started realising what I was doing and started unearthing why I worried , it went back to my Mother treating my father and brothers with kid gloves , took a while to understand and be able to mind myself and let my Son do the same , we have a healthy no stress connection now. Wishing you well from the West of Ireland.

Parents stop using your retired parents as "unpaid" baby sitters. If you're grown act grown. You're a guest in your parents home so you're overstaying your welcome. Certain places you can't go when you have no sitters. We are grandparents, not parents. We already grew our children by ourselves and don't want to do it again. Nobody will stay in my home and speak to me disrespectful. Grandma the parent is home go when you want to go and when the children starts to cry the disrespectful mother will have to get out of bed.

The problem is, she has three other little kids she leaves for her parents to care for.
As a mom, it makes me angry because she just isn’t being responsible. The bc failed, you didn’t choose abortion, then if you don’t surrender your kids, you just chose parenting. It ain’t an easy yoke to shoulder, but it’s the path you chose.
Don’t like it? It’s no longer your mother and stepdad’s responsibility to fix your life. Super irritating that they tried to get her (and hubby, apparently) launched with their own place and they not only didn’t meet their financial obligations, they didn’t even clean their own apartment 😡🤬

She has a 2 month old. She is obviously depressed. I think grandma is trying to make the daughter be someone else. She is 24 with 4 kids and is in a bad place and her mother just put her on TV to be demonized. No relationship will ever recover from this.

@@rachelcampbell9733 Yeah, but did you see them try to wake her for the interview? Or to care for her kids?
My mother, God rest her soul, was 21, had 4 children under 5, when my crazy father returned from Service with full blown schizophrenia. She suffered all her life from depression and anxiety, but somehow she managed (with her parents help) to pull through and raise us more or less on her own.
I still don’t know how she found the courage to do it. She sure didn’t go out all night and lie in bed all day letting someone else do all the work.
I agree, the woman needs help, but she has to do some of it herself too. She brought all those children into the world…

Anytime they call to complain about this spouses I point out what's good about this spouses and how sad it is to be alone as I am and encourage them to make it work. Of course if there was abuse it would be a different story but there is not. They always thank me later for being supportive of their spouse. It's such an easy formula why is this hard for mother-in-law's?

Does this mother not understand but she is the one that taught her daughter what a wife and mother is?
This is nothing more than just trauma bonding. The daughter needs to cut ties 100% with her mother. It does not matter if it is a coworker, a neighbor, or even a family member if they are not healthy for you to continue a relationship you have the right to cut ties. Boundaries need to be set and when this mother crosses those boundaries the consequences need to be carried through.
