I'd say I found your video at the right time! It'll be great to follow along your journey and learning from it. I'm a college senior currently pursuing Batchelor's in technology and I recently landed on my first ever internship. It was highly competitive and landing on felt incredible but even then I had doubts about what I actually want to do in life and what to do now. Your quitting your job and going solo sounds like the next thing, I'd want to do in life, or something similar to it (after I get my job first, that is). That good old motivation to start TH-cam and that never ending desire for freedom. It was highly refreshing and inspiring to have stumbled upon your video. Keep going soldier, good luck!
To be a YT newbie you know how to do it very well! and to be an indie hacker and have 10 thousand users on your first project is phenomenal! The only thing that worries me about your product is that chatgpt could add those features and your product would become obsolete. good work keep it up!
Thank you my friend, really appreciate the kind words Yes that’s definitely possible, that’s why I am trying to stack many valuable features into my extension, I’m betting on my speed and responsiveness to keep the extension running
Taking the risk to pursue something you're passionate about, especially against societal norms, is never easy. I respect your decision so much and you have inspired one person across the world! Subscribed - I look forward to following your journey :) All the best!
I've recently started focusing on my company and it's bringing in about £1k/month as a solo dev, thankfully I've still got my full time job to keep me afloat while I keep working on it but I also really want to move to Korea once it's at a point where it can sustain my living costs as well. My end goal in life is to just be able to run my own company and build things that I genuinely care about. Finding the time to balance a full-time job, with my company and then trying to learn Korean on top of that along with a million other things is definitely a struggle
As a cs student, seeing people like you really makes me wanna work for my self or at least not in a company that i dont enjoy working for.So i hope i will have opportunities to do so but i will put the effort in to make it happen.Love your channel from Sénégal 🇸🇳
I really like your demeanor; it's calming for someone like me who is just now starting my journey as an SWE. Hopefully I can one day get the courage like you!
You'll definitely provide value. As a beginner, I find it always interesting to see what other people in the industry are doing. And you are right. Many people, like yourself, are considering starting with TH-cam, and I'll accept your call to action to document my life as well :D I, for example, would love to see someone who started from scratch and shared their little steps instead of these "I learned to code in 4 months" videos. Sharing as you go, I think I can provide that.
Ive been looking for a developers that vlogs and typically producing there own startup and ur just perfect! You give off a warm vibe and i love it subscribeb and looking forward for more vids❤️
Hey dude~ Very very good luck to you.. Doing startup is my dream also... Currently I'm learning web development and studying online in university BS software engineering... Much love and strengths to you ❤
It's a brave move what you did, it takes effort and resilience to build a business that gives you the freedom that you're seeking for, but with solid discipline, sooner (hopefully) or later, I'm pretty sure you'll get to that point! Best of luck on your journey to financial freedom!! Btw you had some 24-hour cafe/ramyeon stores near the Dongdaemun Design Plaza, but they're impossible to find in the map :( I'll subscribe to follow you're journey! I've been thinking of doing this move too for a looong time, already quit my job and I'm giving myself some really needed rest before starting with startup things.
hi! i'm based in jakarta, indonesia. our paths are different, but still your videos help me manifest the person i'm going to be in the upcoming months. thank you. good luck to you and me!
Hello thank you so much for making the video. Can i know why you just use the screen of your laptop instead of getting a cheap ultrawide? Sometimes i find laptops screens a lil small
Hi man, i'm from brazil and i'm surprised to hear brazilian portuguese in yout video hahah, i'm a software engineer too, but trying to get a promotion to Sr lvl, great video, help me to practice my English listening
Pretty neat idea for a plugin! Are you earning anything from it yet? I'm also planning on doing my own start-up or online one-person business, like you I want to be location-independent and be able to cover my bills (my area is just ML, I know nothing of plugins haha). I visited South Korea last year - if you come to Busan, I can recommend the Oryukdo Skywalk, it's such a beautiful hike along the coast. Anyway good luck on your journey! I subbed :)
Yes currently earning through subscriptions and licenses Wish you all the best man, hope you have success in your business 🫡 Thanks for the recommendation, I’m heading Busan next month, will check it out!
All the best. Good luck. It’s not as hard as people made out it to be. You will be fine, just think about the hardship people from around the world go through for opportunity just to survive and make a living. I live in Canada now, for 35 years.. I was 19 when I come, when I look at my journey it’s pretty daring now that I think about it and being a parent with having kids the sane age I was when I left home. 1. I was 17 when I left home (after finishing high school) didn’t get grades to go to university. 2. Next option is either join the military government and fight the rebels (my side of the family) or join the rebels and fight the military government. Both of them were not suitable options. 2. My sister who was living in Europe sent me a “scholar ship” from university in “India” and that allowed me to get passport and exempted from being drafted in the army. Off course there was no money for scholarship or no school, but allowed me to get the process. 3. I got a tourist visa to czechoslovakia (before the collapse of Soviet Union). Then I got a tourist visa to Greece as a stop over. 4. I left to Greece with 241.50 cents US (only allowed amount) but my dad arranged extra 500 US to handed me over after I passed the gates (he couldn’t trust me that I will be able to hide it and pass security), then left to Athens. I had no one there except some distant cousin was contacted to pick me up from airport and take me to hotel where most people from my country hang around. 5. I got in Athens and met two brothers and their sisters on a plane for the same trip, we become friends with the young brother, where they had another person waiting for them at the airport. 6. We got in (my cousin and the other person knew each other) and they sent us all to the hotel (I remember there was taxi strike, and we were loaded into a pick up track with cover) and made it to the hotel, in fine town Athens. 7. We shared a room with the other guy and the cost was around 10 US per night, so divided was 5 US. Met country people and I started inquiring about jobs. My dad gave me one advise, son you are in your own. Save your money from the beginning, don’t try to save when you are about to run out, if anything else you need call your sister. 8.the next day I started calculating what my living expenses is going to be. I figured, I must get a job within 2 months, I need to get a place to share within a month, and I have to live with 5 a day so in total (5 dollar for food and 5 dollars for hotel total 10). So around 300 per month and had 2 months.. 9. I stayed in the hotel for 4 weeks but found room mate to share with (4 other guys and a girl) in two bedroom basement apartment (our monthly text was 15 dollars us / divided by 5 works out to be 30 per month). We cooked and shared food together for about 50 dollars a month+ plus transportation, it worked out to be around 100 dollars US. The girl had live in nanny job and come in on Friday and left Sunday. I was the youngest from the rest of the guys, but none of them worked. They had family that sent them money monthly and they were waiting to get their paper work done for refugees so they can go to the US or Canada. They were there a lot more than I (1 year plus). 10. I did not drink or smoke and I didn’t spend any money. I was determined to get a job so I made it a plan to get up every morning and ask for two jobs at least. I bought a tourist book and memorized everything within a week, days of the week, how to tell time, how to have basic conversation, how to ask for direction, how to order food, etc.. 11. No one spoke English except some with difficulty, and English was not my first language, I spoke other two native languages but we studied in English starting grade 7 so comprehension was good but conversation was not much. I also took French classes in the evening while in high school for two years so I knew a bit of French (actually I used my French book to study greek and learn similar things to say). 12. After two months of search (restaurant, garage, construction, grocery store) where ever I go, I ask if they have a job. One week my friend took me in a bus, 2 hours away, where many new construction was happening and to ask for a job in each job site. 13. With a bit of luck, I met the contractor (who was building the structure, foundation etc) and told me to come back next week (after he pour the concrete), it was around Wed. And I waited 5 days, all exited. 14. Come Monday i showed up to work at 7 am (they start at 7:30) left my house at 6 am. He didn’t show up (he had multiple locations) so I waited for him. The good thing I tempered his name and we had agreed for salary of 20 dollars a day, that’s around 400 per month and all I need to 100 to live. I didn’t give up and waited and waited. There was no cellphone someone can call or email him, just waited patiently. 15. Then after 2 hours the plumber contracted come and asked the other workers who I was and what I was doing. When they told him, he said, I will hire him and give him same salary. He spoke to me and I agreed and started to work. 16. He gave me a shovel and an axe to dig and he make a long line, at least 50 meters, and a huge pipe to dig and make a trench for the pipe to join it to the main sewage to the street. I was not soft, my dad owned a garage and I grew up working there with him but after first day, my hand was all full of water and pain, he didn’t give me a glove or anything. I went home soaked my hand in ice water and bought a glove on the way home and retired to work. 17. The second day my boss come (original boss) and he said hi and apologized for not coming yesterday, but he was happy I stayed. He bought me sandwich and coffee. He said after two days (it took three days) on Thursday you work for me. 18. So on Thursday I went to work, it was a day they were pouring concrete on the first floor (it was 4 story villa very decent size in a place called Kifisia). I was cutting this gas engine with long tube after they pour the concrete to level it off and man, the greek are crazy, he would shout and yell at everything, he including to God looking up high in the sky, I thought the guy was crazy (me being Christian myself) I thought a lighting was going to come from the sky to strike him and I will be collateral damage :). 19. The job was done, and the next day was Good Friday and everyone was gathered in restaurant across the street. The greek very generous and ordered food, drinks (wine, olives, bread, feta cheese) and it was the day they get paid. There was no check, or etrasfer or, direct deposit but he come with loaded cash and was handing them over. I worked 4 days and he paid me for 5 days (including holidays) and he said, happy Easter. It was one of the proudest (I made 1000 drachmas, which is around 80 US then) and that enough to last me at least two weeks. My friends couldn’t believe that I made so much in just 4 days..beer was 60 cents a bottle, suflagee was 90 cents, monthly pass was 10 dollars, life was great. 20. I worked until my cousin sent me sponsorship to Canada for about a year a half, saved enough money and sent 1000 dollars back to my father to help send my sister . By then I was making 40 dollars a day and I moved out and had my own apartment and was living with my sister and other cousin and a friend. At the sane time, I was studying English at the UN school, joined a gym, and played football and lived very comfortably and helped a lot of new arrivals get construction jobs. Okay I will stop here.., I always thought I have a story to tell and think about writing a book, and there is no better way to share a story with strangers.. I hope you start thinking about the story you want to write about life.,this is just two years experience and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. May be I will continue the rest of my story life in Canada, where I do the 35 years..was never a doll moment ..and still keep going.. Canada
