Oh my goodness, the shawl 😍😍😍Absolutely STUNNING! Cannot wait for your pattern release! I purchased yarn 2 years ago while walking The Camino de Santiago in Galicia, Spain that will be perfect for this shawl; not to mention the motifs remind me of the patterns that nature gives us while walking outdoors! Lovely channel! May your family stay safe. Blessings to your partner for the work that he is doing! ❤️

Love, love, love the shawl. I’m not usually a shawl knitter, but I can’t wait for this one to come out! We have a short summer here in mid coast Maine, USA, so it will be no problem for me knitting this. I also like rustic, wooly yarns and most of what I knit is in these yarns. Hopefully my LYS will open again soon, and I will be picking out yarn for this project. I really enjoy your podcast, and am especially happy to have it (and others) to watch during this time at home. Thank you and stay safe and healthy!

The shawl is beautiful, I want to make one. You, worry too much, you put your heart into it. Nothing is perfect, except God. It is handmade and it will have it's little doodles, just like you said, you were doodling when knitting it. Remember, It is beautiful. I like the triangular shawls best too.

I completely understand what you mean about the difficulties of being an introvert. I have 3 children (5, 3 and 1 and half) and we home educate so they dont go to school or daycare in normal times. I love having them home obviously but found it hard to get balance and i recently discovered knitting and ypur channel (and stiched in sweden, which is also a lobely channel) and have found that these things give me that little bit of peace :) i really enjoy your videos, you are very talanted.

Oh the shawl is beautiful, even much more than the little teasers gave a hint of! I so love all of your makings, your style is right up my alley! I think Kamouraska would be a prefect name for the shawl. Other than that "Hedgerow" is what came straight away to me when I saw it.

When I look at your beautiful shawl and watch you show us who you are with your flowers and your woodland life, I look at that shawl and think "Woodland Trails" it has many different motifs and evolves throughout.. yes, that would be a good name for it. :)

Love your podcast and your color work shawl!! I am seeing this podcast the day after Christmas 2020, and most likely you have long ago finished the crocheted pillow. But an idea for the other side of the 9 squares is to make one large square in the same color way and same pattern, just continue to make it bigger and bigger until it is the same size as the 9 squares sewn together of the other side, and this would match nicely. I hope this makes sense! It would also work up fairly quickly.

Love the colorwork shawl! I hope someday I am able to knit a beautiful shawl like that. I am still very much a "newbie knitter" so I have not made anything complicated. I am still working on my first pair of vanilla socks.

Wow Laerke! Amazing episode ...your little t-shirt sweater is so beautiful in its simplicity...the neckline, dropped shoulders and hem are perfect design elements...I absolutely love the blanket you are designing it is a real beauty and looks so much fun to knit...the shawl design is stunning! And I’m so excited to know it’s not knitted flat because that’s a road I don’t want to go down... and the pants you sewed up are so amazing and such a perfect fit! Enjoy the chickens and your garden both are such wonderful additions to one’s home. Have a great one and stay safe..

I was raised near Kamouraska ,it is a beautiful place on the south shore of the St-Lawrence River in the Québec province .
You could name it Kamouraska as there is a famous movie(1973) from a book (1970), that was filmed there and the title is Kamouraska !
The action was taking place in the middle of the 19th century ; a period when women wore big shawls during our frozen winters as they were travelling with open sleigh pulled by horses. I really think the name is perfect 👌 for your shawl.Don’t we say ; the first idea is always The good one ?! Very nice shawl ! Did you used double knitting ? or maybe kind of a « motif created by the floats » on the reverse side ? 🤔🧐🙋‍♀️🇨🇦

Your latest shawl is stunning Laerke. The subtle choice of your colour pallette is beautiful too. I just wondered if it was possible to create a triangular shawl that is steeked? I have only ever used a steek once in a Sidsel Hoivik jacket and really appreciated not having to purl colour work but with some thought it may be possible to make a triangle in the round. Your white button fronted cotton top was featured in Ciasbod podcast where she sang your praise for the pattern. Hope your family are well. XAngela

Cindy Asselin I just looked it up. "The name "Kamouraska" comes from an Algonquin word meaning "where rushes grow at the water's edge"." What a lovely name!

    • @isarose3136
      @isarose3136 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@elizabethmusso5946 Yeah if it's Algonquin I can see why Lærke is hesitant to call it that.

    • @Kaila999
      @Kaila999 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

But it’s fine to call something “Kamouraska”, in my opinion. We don’t worry about calling something “Toronto” or “Chicago”, right😉? Since Kamouraska is a place (maybe even a region?) it’s not disrespectful. If someone indigenous reads this and disagrees, his/her opinion is welcome.

Thank you, so much for me to say... firstly...the new shawl is STUNNING it is so beautiful. I have never done colourwork but I think this might be my lifetimes colourwork mission !! It is the most beautiful piece of knitwear I have ever seen. I think you could call it “home” “The home shawl” after you have found and love your new home and after this time when we have all been at home and home is a beautiful comforting cosy safe place to be....I love your vegetable growing, I love to grow vegetables myself and I have a couple of those raised beds boxes the same as you have , they are still going strong after 12 years of use. I am so happy you have hens and your children are enjoying them, I think they bring the garden alive and are the best friends. Do not take even one night chance with the foxes, make sure everything is totally secure. Your English is so good, may I respectfully say as a fellow gardener we use the word “soil” not dirt for what we grow in. Soil is everything. When you have a second child your work load increases by 100% so it is not easy, but as they grow and move away ( it will break your heart) time will open up to you again and all those wonderful projects you have in your mind will be there and the time to do them ( I’m sorry I don’t mean to be patronising . I am trying to be reassuring , but when you are in the thick of motherhood it can be frustrating I know). I cannot wait to buy your shawl pattern and I hope I can do it justice. In the meantime I am sowing vegetables, making bread and knitting clothes for my grandchildren xxxxx

Your garden is looking lovely. Good job getting some new beds in. This year, I'm planting quite a few dye plants which I'm really looking forward too. Madder takes a few years, so I'm starting it now!
Wow, your shawl is beautiful. I love the garter design you did on it and the blanket. I'm not experienced enough with colorwork yet to know the obstacles you faced while creating it. I sure do love colorwork though! I recently finished Ninja Chicken's Hoar Frost and it is as lovely as can be! I have to practice more with my tension because it gets awfully tight doing colorwork. I look forward to my next colorwork project to use a tip I've heard about--holding the knitting inside out so the floats are more stretched out as I work.
Your pants are cute cute cute! I noticed them at the very beginning when you first sat down and it was lovely to hear about how you made them. Both pockets turned out very well, and I know completely what you mean about the shift from the "harem" pants we wore in our 20s to this different, but complementary style.
I still don't have kids, so I'll go on that long hike for you! My dogs are my kids, and so we all insist on regular hiking.
    Happy knitting!

Since the yarn is Canadian maybe Kannada, or the word Canada is an indigenous word meaning village and was pronounced sort of like can add da with the emphasis on the centre rather than the first. Every province has places that have indigenous names so maybe you could check the province the yarn came from to see what other names are there. Lovely to see all your beautiful knitting, the garden and the chickens. I’m happy you are all well, and thank your husband for his work. 🙋🏼🥰

I loved both of the patterns you showed today! For the shawl name, you could call it the Doodle shawl. Or the Garden Doodle shawl or Woodland Doodle shawl (something of that sort). Or if you want to go with something hard to pronounce but not appropriative, you could use Croquis, which is a sketch in French. It also sounds a little like crocus (the flower name) so there’s a vague nature connection.

I think there was a movie from the 70s called Kamouraska? It was about a love affair I think. And a region in Canada is called that, right? Very beautiful name! But I agree with you, when you don't know if it's ok to use it for several reasons, I wouldn't either. Your shawl is very beautiful.

Your pants are great - perfect pairing of fabric and pattern as they drape so nicely but still look elegant. They are reminiscent of the Thai fisherman's pants that everyone bought back from Thailand in the eighties on their first overseas trip. Check them out if you're not familiar with them - this design has really elevated the fisherman's pants whilst keeping the lovely relaxed feel.

I am Canadian. Kamouraska is a Beautiful name. It is pronounced:
    Kam or ask a
Your prononciation was very good. It is a Native Word from the Algonquin tribe meaning 'Where rushes grow at the waters edge'. Rushes are tall water plants that grow in summer on the edges of ponds and marshes. Kamouraska is also a region in the province of Quebec, Canada. It is situated along the south shore of the great St. Lawrence River. I think it is a very fitting name for your beautiful design. I sincerely Hope that this helps you to pick this name. Ok - can’t wait for that shawl pattern! That is going on my needles! What weight is the yarn? Also want that t-shirt - I have some yarn that would be perfect. Pillows: I often sew fabric to the back.

Thanks for the advise! You will need fingering for the shawl. The tee just went live on Ravelry 🤗

Hi! I am from Quebec like Paule of Urso Yarns and it will be ok to call it Kamouraska. Since you speak Spanish, you can pronounce it Kamuraska. Also, it is a gorgeous shawl.

I so look forward to watching your podcasts and see what you create, I love your patterns! I think the shawl is beautiful as well as the tee. I think you steeled the shawl, I’ve been watching Skeindeerknits podcasts lol!

The shawl looks like it was knit in two pieces, thus the mismatched center seam. I think you did it by making two triangles, then seamed together. As to a name, I though of A Forest Walk because of the vines and flowers. Flower garden Shawl.

Hehe nope. It was knit in one 😉😉 The center is actually matched but i didnt like how he patterns meet. It is fixed in the pattern tho 💕

A beautiful shawl, possibly a steek? Or maybe sliding the shawl back across the needles so your always working on the right side?🙂

How about "Where Rushes Grow" for the shawl? It's the meaning of Kamouraska. To be honest though it doesn't seem very culturally appropriative to me to name the shawl after a town where the yarn comes from.
