I ordered my 000-42 Modern Deluxe on March 15th, and Martin says I’ll have it July 5th…..unless they change their build dates again…..which might happen……again. Thank you for playing one, Spoon. I am more convinced than ever that I made the right choice. Sellers are asking customers for QUITE a leap of faith to buy a very very expensive guitar without first playing it. Such is the unenviable but necessary dilemma when buying a brand new model. To those who might also be wrestling with this, I say BUY IT. Based on what I hear and see, you won’t regret not playing it first. Lastly, I can share that I called Martin and asked them to add electronics to my order. They said “Sure, no problem. We can do that. It’ll be ready around the middle of April….OF 2023!” Another reason to buy one now.
**UPDATE** Unlike Martin’s usual M.O., I received my 000-42MD a month EARLY. Very unusual. I have been blessed to own and/or play some of the best factory Custom Shop guitars made (of course, you really can’t compare a $25,000 Driftwood or a $27,000 Casimi to a factory Gibson or Martin or Taylor - even their Custom Shop offerings). But this Martin exhibits some very unusual tonal properties. It’s almost as if you’re listening to two different instruments. For example. When you’re strumming a barred A, the high three strings sound like they’re being played on a high-end all mahogany Taylor. Very very crisp - tonal individuality is clearly emphasized far more than punch and volume. But - and this is the remarkable part - the bottom three strings on that same barred A chord, don’t sound “Mahogany-ee” at all. In fact, I would more closely associate that specific sound with my Gibson Maple Jumbo. It’s really really odd. And I mean IN A GOOD WAY. I really really like it. When you get back down on the neck and play some stanky Mississippi blues finger-style (yes, please), this thing really shines. The bottom isn’t boomy like a jumbo sometimes is. But you can still feel it rattling your rib cage. This guitar is absolutely perfect for finger style with vocals. PERFECT. Reviewers talk about the neck shape. I can’t tell that it’s “asymmetrical”. But perhaps that’s the best compliment anyone could give it. The neck plays effortlessly. Lastly, I want you to know that I installed an Anthem dual source pickup. Reviewers have been cautioning that it might be difficult to drill through two plates of carbon fiber (see the bridge plate specs). It wasn’t. There were no issues at all. Easy-peasy. This 000-42MD is amazing, and it’s a keeper. Reach out to Maury and get one. Sell the motorcycle, and buy this guitar. Forgive my double negatives, but there’s not a single thing that I don’t love. And I’m pretty demanding - as we all should be with such an expensive guitar.
@@MaurysMusic how do you find the Martin 000-42 natural? It isn't the Modern Deluxe, but a bit cheaper and I have a chance to get a one-year-old one for a real good price? Should I buy it?
Incredible guitar!
Yep

I'd better write my letter to Santa today and make a lot of promises.

@@BlackwingDan How is it ? Did you see it ?
WHAT A STUNNER! Always good to hear ole Spoon run thru his repertoire of pickin' ditties for comparison sake.
Thanks - we agree!
Fabulous !
Thank you 👍
Love everything besides that headstock logo

Sweet!
Nicest guitar I ever saw
Sure is a looker.
Sounds like dreadnaught wow
Thanks F!
Any idea what happened to the titanium truss rods? They quietly went away….
Supply chain issues forced them to change. :/
@@MaurysMusic always an excuse for everything!
@@gosman949 It's a pretty good excuse though ... if they can't source 'em they don't use 'em.

@@gosman949 I love that model - if you feel comfortable with the seller I can't vote against it.
