Stars saved my husband Glenn in August of 2000 from an accident just outside of Leduc Alberta, they were dispatched to pick up his daughter but she didn't survive while they were prepping Glenn for transport. Sad as it is thank god they were there and able to get Glenn to the U of A as fast as they did because he was rapidly deteriorating. He did survive but is now a t12 paraplegic. Glenn is alive now because of them, thank you so much Stars....we will be forever grateful for your much needed service. Much love to you❤️

It is so important to have a good air rescue available, therefore STARS cant be praised enough for their activities. I live in Germany, and we are so happy that there is air rescue available nationwide since 1959. Air Force and Navy are active on order of the Gouvernment 24 Hours / 365 Days. I grew up near Hamburg Armed Forces Hospital, and the sound of the "Huey" Bell Uh-1D was present every day when they dispatched for almost 100% civil emergencys. Thank You @ all medical and rescue people for their good work ❤️🚑

most bystanders say that the most dangerous risks is if the tail rotor is exposed & spinning at full speed

In the first case, that "voice" the wife heard when she found out about her husband, that haunted voice she didn't recognize, was her tormented soul. I've heard that voice, made that voice. All these people are heart centered and I'm so grateful for them all!! Thank you for opening with a story of survival!

my mom had a car accident in 84, just a year before air ambulance started, near ft st john, middle of bumfuck nowhere alberta, its amazing shes still here today as it took nearly an hour for anyone to find her and the ambulance took just as long to get there, her and my grandfather (driving at the time of the accident) would have led quite a different life had the response time been quicker, thank all of you so much for making miracles happen

Those machines are a beautiful and terrible thing. When they fly we know someone is having the worst day of their life, the worst day for their families life as well, yet are the best way to see another day. Cheers to the medics and pilots who save lives and the engineers that designed these wonderful machines and the gadgets within.

I remember when STARS started up. One of the fundraising efforts was selling T-shirts and sweatshirts with a picture of the helicopter on the front. If I remember correctly, there was a contest of some sort to name the organization, and STARS was the winner. It still is a winner, each and every time the helicopter goes out and brings back patients who are having the worst days of their life. That means a lot.

Wow... that´s so overwhelming. I´m completely speechless. Everybody´s so thankful and nice and they are real life savers. Here in Germany nobody says thank you to their savers. It´s extremly rare that this happens in Germany. I know someone who told me that only one patient in the 16 years he had been working as a paramedic said thanks to him in a letter. We have a highly advanced rescue system but this is really missing.

If I needed the air ambulance where I live, it would be free and I'm so grateful. It's only funding it receives is for the crews wages. The rest is reliant on charity donations. Which is why I pledge 5% of my salary ever month to the local Air ambulance. I've never needed them, neither has my family. hopefully never will. But someone else does and i want them to have the best chance.

one thing that amazed me with the first patient (motorcyle/moose) is the guy is driving in the mountains, knowing full well animal wrecks are a risk, he's driving without full gear, no full coverage helmet, and then after the wreck, he hops on his motorcycle, no full coverage helmet, no leathers, short sleeves, no gloves...........did he learn nothing ???? I DO WISH HIM THE VERY BEST, BUT HE SHOULD HAVE LEARNED TO KIT UP -- VERY SAD

Looking at the big picture, yes, we should do what we love, but we should also try to minimise harm to ourselves, and the impact on other people and broader systems we all need and pay for.
