The reason people are upset with Aqua's death isn't that he died, it's the fact there's not enough chapters to wrap this up in a satisfying conclusion. To me it's fine to write a tragic end for Aqua, because it fits his character, but everyone else needs to still react to it, and 2 chapters ain't it, which is what I worry about.

Ruby doesn't know that this isn't a murder and IK akane won't tell her. Just think from Ruby POV from here: You forgave your father of the sins he committed (ch 160) Your brother wanted to kill him although for your safety. He killed your brother in return, the person you loved the most. You lost him twice in a row. Damn, just think of this, how Aka will frame Ruby's actions from here. And that too in 2 chapter, It is difficult to comprehend this and profoundly devastating and seems almost unimaginable to articulate how he'll manage here in writing. How aka will summarise her character now, another death incoming?
In chapter 121 , Ruby was crying because everyone she cared about died or forgot her( Marina- her mom) . Girl is now an orphan and has no reason to continue living - achieved her dream of surpassing Ai but lost everyone in the process . We might get the misa amane ending next chap

This feels so unfulfilling man, and not because it's a "sad outcome" ending. Kamiki was way too undercooked to be this really big of a bad person for everything to go down like this, the lame evil idol girl ended up not being that consequential it felt like, Gorou's (and to an extension, Aqua) an older brother, did he not figure out that having Ruby experience basically her 3rd tragic death in her life (AFTER dying herself mind you) *could* just break her psyche and she ends up quitting? It's like he just goes and decides that his actions are all 100% correct with no inner or outer feedback whatsoever, does he think the world will snuggly revolve around whatever he does? I'm pretty sure Ruby would just be fine though, if not the sacrifice would be so worthless. Not to mention all his relationships feel unfinished now. Akane lost someone she basically would've devoted her life for (this might be one of the better outcomes tho tbh, since he sorta did manipulate her before it became real), your now mother could just feel like a failure now, I don't remember you resolving anything with Kana, I don't know, I'm probably just rage-reacting lmao. Hopefully someone more cohesive could convince me the story's actually really good somehow.
Well I’m not the one to do it, because I’m definitely right there with you. I would be ok with Aqua dying if it felt like a completed character arc, but like this it feels like he learned absolutely nothing from the past two years. His relationships with Miyako, Kana, Akane, etc, none of it impacted his decisions or how the story ended, he started out as a guy obsessed with killing his father and protecting his sister, and he died killing his father to protect his sister. Everyone else is just left to pick up the pieces feeling lost and most likely emotionally destroyed, even the person he was supposedly protecting.
Indeed, with this chapter, the story is stuck in a situation where the only outcome that makes sense is the end of Ruby's career at least. All of this gives the feeling that Aqua is naive and made a very big mistake. As the manga makes us think implicitely, Aqua always take the first seemingly ideal decision that comes through on his head and prefers to take egoistically all on his shoulders. The big question now is : Will she pursue her career (so Aqua's death is lifted as a necessary cost by Aka) ? According to Aqua yes but it's dumb to think it will necessary end happily. If not, then we will see if Aka chisen the complete tragic end or a more balanced one
This story gave us what I would like to call a "narrative whiplash." Like, if Aka was going to kill Aqua, he should never focus on the love triangle, not when he was gonna die. Or the incest kiss. What was the point of it when we never saw Ruby reflect on her terrible actions or let go of Gorou? Like, with the Gorou reveal, she suddenly forgot Aqua's terrible actions about how he tarnished Ai's reputation. We never saw Ruby grow as a character and now, we'll only see her devastated and depressed or becoming an evil person unable to cope with her brother's death. Hikaru was way undercooked and all because Aka focused on all the wrong things in his story. Aqua's death made this story earn a place in the hall of "genuinely stupid story but not in a good way" for me.
Same here. Is Aqua really so dumb to think that Ruby would rather have an idol career than him being alive? His death creates more problems than it solves imo. Sure, Ruby can technically continue being an idol, but at this point it seems more like a sick joke
I also agree, but my problem also came from Kamiki himself. Like, are you seriously telling me this is exactly how Kamiki got defeated? The big baddy of this series turns out to be just a lame dude with mental issues and trauma issues who's obsessed with Ai, he's not a super genius, he's just some lame manipulator who only uses his manipulation to drive people to kill other people that have something to do with Ai. And then on top of that, he died in a very stupid way as well. Got pushed off his own son that literally just stabbed himself and is injured and can easily be fought off, he just stood there and let Aqua push him off, and he died a lame death. Everything about Kamiki is lame. His backstory is kinda cool ig, but his actions and everything else is just lame. And you're telling me this is how you're gonna end it? Bruh
I feel you, I wanted to believe Aqua still has chance to live and thats why he disappeared. But turns out, he is alive only to slowly die. I wanted to believe he’s still alive but no way he survived the night floating in the ocean 20KM away. That be hell of a news if Aqua survived, and Akane bringing flowers to the ocean is the only way to convince me more clearly “Aqua is dead”. If we see him alive next chapter, holy shit. But with all I see, I have to accept he died, through painful regrets.

Plot twist: It wasn't a dream but instead Crow Girl showing Aqua what's going to happen next and Aqua tries to stop everything but he can't, so at the end he gives up and follows the vision of Crow Girls and dies the same way fr this time
I loved this chapter honestly Akane said 164 "I would have even gone to hell as long as I'm with Aqua" which reminds me of where Akane said "She'd go to hell with him if he just said the word" and Aqua said "I have no intentions of bringing you to such a place" which not only saying he broke up with her to broke protect her but he does this cause he to protect her too It's so heartbreaking to see Akane crying like this that actually broke me because unlike the others she knows the truth which makes it even worse I feel so bad for Akane and Kana and I am especially gonna feel bad for Ruby when her reaction comes

Only thing I would say is interesting is that Aquas eyes didn’t fade before he died unlike Ai, and others that have died. Could just be a mess up but his star was lit in his eye until he closed it. Also very uncomfortable that Aqua is dying with so much regret, and with him saying all the things he says it’s just so sad and hate that Aka is making him go thru all this and die and really just hoping that some miracle Aka brings him back but… Well it was a good fight. I didn’t like this ending at all but I guess I understand. Still to me there’s just so many loose ends and growths and relationships through out the story that now will be left unfinished. I was really wishing Aqua would survive and maybe we would see Ai save him or that this would be all just a dream but it seems confirmed this is it. Hoping there’s some interesting plot twist…

I agree that it ended stupidly it is both bad and good writing at the same time and I think Aka knows this which is why the eye was still a star because the star represents lies and he was lying to himself that he needed to die when he very well could've lived. Since he has lying eyes I think he could have planned to have someone pull himout of the water when he fell because he still had the stab wound and lied about his father trying to kill him just as his father did for 15 years. But I will say this the crow lady did say there are gods who don't even know it and I think it applies to aqua and why she has such a fascination with him.
I did *NOT* like how Aka killed off Aqua. Aqua not only left everybody(we still need to see Ruby's reaction) in shock, but he also broke his promise he made with Kana. At the same time, a part of me wants to believe that Aqua instead ended up in a coma and is currently in a nearby hospital. If the story was re-edited, I believe *Arcueid from Tsukihime, or Emir Parkreiner from Killer7* should've taken out Hikaru instead of Aqua himself finishing the deed. I'm just saying.
My theory for the next chapter is that Ruby will be grieving with pain from her reaction after the news before she visits Aqua's funeral. Or it will be a timeskip, a few years I think, where Ruby, now older, visits his grave, showing maturity here. Either way, I wonder what is going to happen with her from this, and I hope it doesn't involve giving up and died. For Aqua, may u rest in peace. For Aka, please reconsider all of this, especially the finale heree
Over all these chapters, I feel Akane is the one who will burden everything. As she cares so much especially Aqua, deeply. Meanwhile, Aqua said to take care Ruby. That means Akane probably needs to take care both her heartbroken feeling and be there for Ruby after Aqua’s death.
Aqua's plan is selfish and hasty. It's like prefering to become a kamikaze pilot than becoming an army general. Aqua could've made better plans that won't get himself killed if he planned things with akane and other people. Aqua could've lived and go protect ruby further. Instead he just went to murder-suicide this one person. This doesn't make any bit of sense when you consider Aqua basically has over 40 years of experience in life.
It's surely selfish but it does make sense in a certain way. As Akane underlines many times (especially ep 13 of S2), he always wants to shoulder everything by his own. To me the manga always made me feel he will everytime take the seemingly ideal decision that comes through his mind very selfishly. At the end it does more harm to people, and we could indeed hope he changed his selfish and impulsive behavior...
It doesn't make sense until you consider that his physical brain is not 40 years old, and the whole revenge thing started in his early developmental years. We already know that no matter what he remembers from his previous life, his brain is still the same age as his body.
Yea take Akane's help and become the next Hikaru as he did with Nino. You gotta understand, Aqua was never going to take Akane's help cuz that would make him just like his father.
there are three option that i've thinked about. 1. The author will make Ruby commit suicide. If we think that the only reason to live was Aqua/Gorou she will def commit suicide. 2. Ruby gets "mature" and accepts Aqua's death, thinking that she should not mess up what Aqua did for her. But, if this will happen, then it is unrealistic. She was going to kill Hikaru, but then, when she knew about Gorou and that he was Aqua then she decided to make that her's reason to live. Also, Akane has to tell her that he did a Murder-Suicide, but, Akane will not do that, i mean, we know her, she will not. 3. Aqua will reborn as someone's child, and rushing the end. It's unrealistic, but considering that he's eyes didnt fade out it could maybe happen. I know that there is another option that is rising through the fans, the one that says that the body that was found was Hikaru and not Aqua. I honestly dont think that this will happen. Like, bro, how can you not see that its an adult body instead of a teenager. However, they said that there wasnt all of that damage to the Aqua's body, and no one said about the hole in the stomach, so maybe that will be true but nah, for me it isnt an option.

I never expected aqua to die but still can't believe this happened this is just tragic for all three girls , ruby , akane and aqua . For ruby she lost her beloved twice , kana being arrogant doesn't even know what was happening it was just shock to her , and for akane the person who saved your life you couldn't protect him and he dies . My heart broken at last panel .
C'mon Kana is not arrogant. She was most probably purposely kept out of the plan to keep herself safe because she is not like Akane and Aqua cares for her safety and reputation.

Chapter's finally, my reaction to Aqua end still the same (from last video), here's my version for the epilogue : - Aqua funeral with devastated Ruby deciding to move on - Few years of time skip, media announcing Ruby idol graduation - Final concert held in tokyo dome, all cast present - Emotional moment during concert Ruby pause during one performance and witness ghost of Aqua and Ai smiling at her. - She dedicate her final song to her beloved brother and mom. - ending scene same like the back view of Ai facing the crowd except with Ruby and credit end
I see two possible endings One Ruby dies of old age or somthing similar and the last page is her and aqua holding hands togather the end Second one is a few years have pass since aqua dies Ruby is still an idol she is doing a fan meeting after a concert a young boy (aqua reincarnated) came to meet her and he is holding the key chain The end
Third one is Ruby meets the same fate as Ai (stab treatment) and then she meets Aqua/Gorou in the afterlife and they both reincarnate into the next life as separate people with an indistinguishable fate to meet again.

Aqua is still a teenager who's situation was so messed up he didnt want to get those he cares about involved making sure he does it all by himself with a plan he thought was his only way of protecting his sister, putting an end to the 15-year grudge he had and finally becoming at peace with himself realizing it was all Aqua himself and not Gorou.
I'm devastated and heartbroken, I can feel the pain they felt. So many of his love ones are heartbroken, a future stolen, and unable to say goodbye or I love you. But at least he'll be reunited with Ai. But this is tragic he suffered the most. He deserves a happy ending, hope for a miracle happened 🙏 ✨️ 🥺😔😢

@@Atticus-Catnippit takes more courage to complete a characters driving plotline and have them evolve beyond it. Killing a character off before / without resolving plot threads such as relationships ect. Is actually an easy way out. I say this as a writer myself, Aqua just dropping dead here doesn’t feel proper and gives me AoT vibes of the author just wanting to put down their pen.
I just realize something in the season two opening, we saw aqua and Ruby, jumping off the building aqua has already died so that means that opening was foreshadowing that Ruby will also die the first ending foreshadowed aqua’s feet so the opening of season two may have foreshadowed aqua and ruby’s fate too
So if in mephisto it shows aqua drowning, then in burning it shows ruby falling. It could mean that she committed suicide by jumping off a building. Damn i just can’t imagine that he is really dead. We are still missing one body and we haven’t seen ruby’s reaction. Either she knows he is still alive or as you said, she needs an entire chapter grieving dedicated to her. Or in the last chapter aqua walks into her room and says look who saved me from the brink of death, and he walks in with the crow girl.

Bittersweet ending definitely seems the most likely now. Hard to get a completely happy one now that Aqua is dead, but I also don’t think it can get anymore tragic than this either.
I hope maybe someday there will be an Oshi No Ko spin-off Manga that focuses on other Oshi No Ko characters including Minami Kotobuki. Fans should definitely request for a manga like that.
I feel some weird plot twist is gonna happen in the last chapter But hear me out, we already know all the things Aqua wants to do while he is alive. Examples, being equal terms with Akane, seeing Ruby perform, being with Kana finally. So we don’t exactly need to see it play out. What if in the last chapter some weird scene happens where either Aqua is dead and or faked his death and the final scene is us seeing him alive and that’s just how it ends.
Honestly probably, theres the other people coping with the death saying they mistook the body of hikaru for aqua, cuz these type of death cant be resolved in two chapters without rushing the daylights out of it
It's difficult for something like that to happen nowadays. With only 40/60 pages left, and that's assuming the final chapter will be longer at 20 pages, Aka has a lot to develop in a short time. Now if he does part 2, anything is possible.
As much as I want to cry again, I do realize that perhaps it's for the best.. I just want to see how the story ends, because I started it because of Ai's death. I just hope Ruby could at least get a happy ending, even without her brother...
The fate of star bearers in Oshi no ko😢:- 1. Ai - got killed by a crazy fan 2. Yura - got killed by Hikaru 3. Hikaru - got Sherlock holme'd by Aqua 4. Aqua - drowned to death Ruby's fate probably depends on whether she gets to know the truth about Aqua's death or not . Akane certainly wont tell her the truth to not expose Aqua's lie , so it all comes down to crow girl . If she returns Ruby's keychain and show her Aqua's last moments , then she might understand and choose to live to respect Aqua's wishes . She will obviously be devastated and might even quit being an idol as her dream of surpassing Ai came true and with Kana retiring , this might be the end for B komachi . She would live but would never be able to move on and be happy . This wouldn't be a great end to her character as she would continue to suffer and become a liar to cope with the pain. If she doesn't get to know the truth , she will feel guilty about not killing hikaru, blame herself and end up pulling a Misa Amane by jumping to her death ( ' Burning ' and 'Mephisto's' hospital scene supports this theory). She literally has no reason to live anymore as she fulfilled Ai's wishes and her brother who was also her 'sensei' is no more . She is now an orphan whose pain can never be understood by anyone . Everyone whom she cared for died( Ai, Aqua,Gorou) or abandoned her(marina) . This is probably the ending we will be getting . I honestly dont mind seeing this ending as Aqua and Ruby were always meant to be together. Both of them have fulfilled their purpose of reincarnation with Ruby becoming the best idol and Aqua bringing justice to his mom and making Ruby's, Mem's ,Kana's and Akane's career successful. Ai and the twins will finally be reunited shining together brightly in the night sky. They are just too damn pure for this world . Either ending works . Truly a masterpiece by Aka and Mengo
You’re forgetting about miyako the adoptive mother to ruby and aqua. She will definitely be devastated on losing aqua as she probably feels responsible and guilt of not being able to protect ai’s kids
Side characters in ONK be taking an L irrespective of the ending . Kana - never even got a kiss in and couldn't express her feelings, Akane- couldnt keep her promise of saving Aqua, Miyako - would be devastated over the loss of her son and would most likely keep Ruby away from the entertainment industry to save her from the same fate as Ai and Aqua( if Ruby chooses to live) . If Ruby died Miyako would just quit strawberry production( she is wealthy enough ) and be heartbroken . Ichigo - failed everyone ( Ai, Aqua, Ruby , was an absent husband to Miyako etc) , Taiki - never got to know his younger siblings, Mem- lost the friend who made her an idol , never got a chance to thank him .
Yea I agree this is the only fitting end for Aqua, if he lived it would be plot armor, and Idc if people say its a shit ending, this is the only appropriate ending for this series. It was never meant to be happy series. Also in Ch 160 iirc, Hikaru himself said we have eyes of deciever, we use others to do our bidding, if he took Akane's help, what would that make Aqua? Same as his dad, so I am glad he didnt took her help. He himself said he would go to hell alone than take Akane with her. The only thing left to see is Ruby's reaction, and seeing the ending of Season 2(considering mephisto ending spoiled Aqua's end), I believe Ruby will kill herself (just a hunch)
I like that aqua died, from the beginning of the story he said how he wasn't afraid of death, as he had died once before. also he fulfilled his desire to protect Sarina/ruby, I think it was a fitting end for his character

The only thing I can wish for now is for Aqua to talk to Ai in the last chapter of the manga. Imagine a scene like this: Aqua opens his eyes and finds himself at home. He looks at the photo of Ruby,himself and Ai And then to the terrace of the hospital where Garou works. There is no crow girl here, there is Ai. Ai and Aqua talk for the last time..maybe Aqua can say 'I love you, Ai' like Ai said to him before she die and smile And THE END
Akane has to tell Ruby, she’s about to go dark again, and I fear she’ll kill herself just to see Gorou again. She pretty much already lost him twice. What really bothered me is I thought both Aqua and Ruby are having their ending. Now I’m seeing Aqua dying, which I’m lead to believe thats his ending. I hate how it has to end, but I supposed the purpose behind this is not all stories ends with a happy ending.
Aqua's death reminds me of Jack from Titanic, He said."You can't die now, you will die of old age.." To Rose, and he is probably saying that to Ruby too... Regardless... This is the saddest Halloween ever. Aqua literally died for real and I'm still in denial. Akane's reaction was fantastic. I know Kana's feelings for Aqua are mutual but some part of me feels like Akane still loves Aqua. I mean, “I'd go to hell as long as I am with you.” seems like a rather romantic thing to say. Also, I wish more people would talk about Miyako's grief upon not being able to save her son. She may end up with major gulit and think that she spent too much time on making Ruby successfull rather than keeping an eye on Aqua. Was gonna post a comment earlier but my phone died.
Yeah Miyako is taking the loss very hard from what we can see in the next chapter. Her importance is very underrated, but she is basically their mother so she will be dealing with this for a long time too.

I think I disagree, I don't think Aqua was happy to die in the end, at one point he actually wanted to live which tells me he regretted having this cold, lonely and miserable death. About Akane's 3 options, I think he end up choosing a similar death to the pit of tarantulas, judging what extreme cold water does to the body. I think that Ruby's reaction can either be sad and devastating (what I'm sure many are expecting) or she could go into shock and not be able to process it. Not sure which route they will go, but I agree that she and we deserve a full chapter. At this point, I'm not sure how the last chapter will go but I'm just hoping that the ending of this story is not a tragic one, it will be such a hollow ending.
I think the main thing that keeps me from believing Aqua is 100% dead is Kana, through out the whole show they kept building her out like she was endgame, she even mentioned something about her being mad if he died, I just cannot believe she never had a W, after being teased and depressed about him being with another girl the entire show, hell even Ruby had her turn kissing him (twice). Kana’s ending seems particularly cruel, almost too cruel to be true, if revenge was truly what it was all about, then every kana interaction in retrospective seems like a waste of time…
It's not fukking bittersweet, I tell you. It's THE BAD ending. He did not only consider Ruby's feelings of her death, but EVERYONE ELSE AROUND HIM. I now understand how dark Aka wanted his main story to get. Everything is just hopeless here. Kamiki might have died, but he won the war of not allowing anyone to be as star-bright as Ai. This is just fukking sad, my heart felt hurt so real, never ever in my life did this happen to me.
You might be right about Hikaru winning the war, but it prolly depends on how Ruby reacts to this. If she’s depressed for a long time, then Hikaru wins since she won’t shine again for a long time
Just like in Mephisito, you'll most likely see either in 165 or in 166 in the end an older Ruby thinking about Aqua from the hospital roof. I mean the rest of the song animation shows foreshadowed what is happening right now. As I state over and over, Aka going through killing off your own main character takes a lot of guts and turning this series into a tragedy. I already commented that Aka tried to put in a murder plot in Love is War, but the editors convinced him not to do it. If you want to see a HAPPY ending then read Love is War. Start on chapter 152 if you follow the animation series. The big question next week or hell on Friday on the spoilers is how Ruby reacts and deals with Aqua's death.

The reason people are upset with Aqua's death isn't that he died, it's the fact there's not enough chapters to wrap this up in a satisfying conclusion. To me it's fine to write a tragic end for Aqua, because it fits his character, but everyone else needs to still react to it, and 2 chapters ain't it, which is what I worry about.

It's like he just goes and decides that his actions are all 100% correct with no inner or outer feedback whatsoever, does he think the world will snuggly revolve around whatever he does?
I'm pretty sure Ruby would just be fine though, if not the sacrifice would be so worthless.

Well I’m not the one to do it, because I’m definitely right there with you. I would be ok with Aqua dying if it felt like a completed character arc, but like this it feels like he learned absolutely nothing from the past two years. His relationships with Miyako, Kana, Akane, etc, none of it impacted his decisions or how the story ended, he started out as a guy obsessed with killing his father and protecting his sister, and he died killing his father to protect his sister. Everyone else is just left to pick up the pieces feeling lost and most likely emotionally destroyed, even the person he was supposedly protecting.
Indeed, with this chapter, the story is stuck in a situation where the only outcome that makes sense is the end of Ruby's career at least. All of this gives the feeling that Aqua is naive and made a very big mistake. As the manga makes us think implicitely, Aqua always take the first seemingly ideal decision that comes through on his head and prefers to take egoistically all on his shoulders.
The big question now is : Will she pursue her career (so Aqua's death is lifted as a necessary cost by Aka) ? According to Aqua yes but it's dumb to think it will necessary end happily. If not, then we will see if Aka chisen the complete tragic end or a more balanced one
This story gave us what I would like to call a "narrative whiplash." Like, if Aka was going to kill Aqua, he should never focus on the love triangle, not when he was gonna die. Or the incest kiss. What was the point of it when we never saw Ruby reflect on her terrible actions or let go of Gorou?
Like, with the Gorou reveal, she suddenly forgot Aqua's terrible actions about how he tarnished Ai's reputation. We never saw Ruby grow as a character and now, we'll only see her devastated and depressed or becoming an evil person unable to cope with her brother's death.
Hikaru was way undercooked and all because Aka focused on all the wrong things in his story. Aqua's death made this story earn a place in the hall of "genuinely stupid story but not in a good way" for me.

The big baddy of this series turns out to be just a lame dude with mental issues and trauma issues who's obsessed with Ai, he's not a super genius, he's just some lame manipulator who only uses his manipulation to drive people to kill other people that have something to do with Ai. And then on top of that, he died in a very stupid way as well. Got pushed off his own son that literally just stabbed himself and is injured and can easily be fought off, he just stood there and let Aqua push him off, and he died a lame death. Only thing I would say is interesting is that Aquas eyes didn’t fade before he died unlike Ai, and others that have died. Could just be a mess up but his star was lit in his eye until he closed it. Also very uncomfortable that Aqua is dying with so much regret, and with him saying all the things he says it’s just so sad and hate that Aka is making him go thru all this and die and really just hoping that some miracle Aka brings him back but…

I agree that it ended stupidly it is both bad and good writing at the same time and I think Aka knows this which is why the eye was still a star because the star represents lies and he was lying to himself that he needed to die when he very well could've lived. Since he has lying eyes I think he could have planned to have someone pull himout of the water when he fell because he still had the stab wound and lied about his father trying to kill him just as his father did for 15 years. But I will say this the crow lady did say there are gods who don't even know it and I think it applies to aqua and why she has such a fascination with him.

I did *NOT* like how Aka killed off Aqua. Aqua not only left everybody(we still need to see Ruby's reaction) in shock, but he also broke his promise he made with Kana. At the same time, a part of me wants to believe that Aqua instead ended up in a coma and is currently in a nearby hospital. If the story was re-edited, I believe *Arcueid from Tsukihime, or Emir Parkreiner from Killer7* should've taken out Hikaru instead of Aqua himself finishing the deed. I'm just saying.

Over all these chapters, I feel Akane is the one who will burden everything. As she cares so much especially Aqua, deeply. Meanwhile, Aqua said to take care Ruby. That means Akane probably needs to take care both her heartbroken feeling and be there for Ruby after Aqua’s death.
Aqua's plan is selfish and hasty. It's like prefering to become a kamikaze pilot than becoming an army general. Aqua could've made better plans that won't get himself killed if he planned things with akane and other people. Aqua could've lived and go protect ruby further. Instead he just went to murder-suicide this one person. This doesn't make any bit of sense when you consider Aqua basically has over 40 years of experience in life.
It's surely selfish but it does make sense in a certain way. As Akane underlines many times (especially ep 13 of S2), he always wants to shoulder everything by his own. To me the manga always made me feel he will everytime take the seemingly ideal decision that comes through his mind very selfishly. At the end it does more harm to people, and we could indeed hope he changed his selfish and impulsive behavior...
It doesn't make sense until you consider that his physical brain is not 40 years old, and the whole revenge thing started in his early developmental years.
We already know that no matter what he remembers from his previous life, his brain is still the same age as his body.

This chapter have fair criticisms, but this isn't one of them. Like dude, your arguments can be debunked by just reading the story
there are three option that i've thinked about.
1. The author will make Ruby commit suicide. If we think that the only reason to live was Aqua/Gorou she will def commit suicide.
2. Ruby gets "mature" and accepts Aqua's death, thinking that she should not mess up what Aqua did for her. But, if this will happen, then it is unrealistic. She was going to kill Hikaru, but then, when she knew about Gorou and that he was Aqua then she decided to make that her's reason to live. Also, Akane has to tell her that he did a Murder-Suicide, but, Akane will not do that, i mean, we know her, she will not.
3. Aqua will reborn as someone's child, and rushing the end. It's unrealistic, but considering that he's eyes didnt fade out it could maybe happen. I know that there is another option that is rising through the fans, the one that says that the body that was found was Hikaru and not Aqua. I honestly dont think that this will happen. Like, bro, how can you not see that its an adult body instead of a teenager. However, they said that there wasnt all of that damage to the Aqua's body, and no one said about the hole in the stomach, so maybe that will be true but nah, for me it isnt an option.

Chapter's finally, my reaction to Aqua end still the same (from last video), here's my version for the epilogue :
- Aqua funeral with devastated Ruby deciding to move on
- Few years of time skip, media announcing Ruby idol graduation
- Final concert held in tokyo dome, all cast present
- Emotional moment during concert Ruby pause during one performance and witness ghost of Aqua and Ai smiling at her.
- She dedicate her final song to her beloved brother and mom.
- ending scene same like the back view of Ai facing the crowd except with Ruby and credit end
I see two possible endings
One Ruby dies of old age or somthing similar and the last page is her and aqua holding hands togather the end
Second one is a few years have pass since aqua dies
Ruby is still an idol she is doing a fan meeting after a concert a young boy (aqua reincarnated) came to meet her and he is holding the key chain
The end
Third one is Ruby meets the same fate as Ai (stab treatment) and then she meets Aqua/Gorou in the afterlife and they both reincarnate into the next life as separate people with an indistinguishable fate to meet again.

Aqua is still a teenager who's situation was so messed up he didnt want to get those he cares about involved making sure he does it all by himself with a plan he thought was his only way of protecting his sister, putting an end to the 15-year grudge he had and finally becoming at peace with himself realizing it was all Aqua himself and not Gorou.
I'm devastated and heartbroken, I can feel the pain they felt. So many of his love ones are heartbroken, a future stolen, and unable to say goodbye or I love you. But at least he'll be reunited with Ai. But this is tragic he suffered the most. He deserves a happy ending, hope for a miracle happened 🙏 ✨️ 🥺😔😢

I say this as a writer myself, Aqua just dropping dead here doesn’t feel proper and gives me AoT vibes of the author just wanting to put down their pen.
I just realize something in the season two opening, we saw aqua and Ruby, jumping off the building aqua has already died so that means that opening was foreshadowing that Ruby will also die the first ending foreshadowed aqua’s feet so the opening of season two may have foreshadowed aqua and ruby’s fate too

Ruby's fate probably depends on whether she gets to know the truth about Aqua's death or not . Akane certainly wont tell her the truth to not expose Aqua's lie , so it all comes down to crow girl . If she returns Ruby's keychain and show her Aqua's last moments , then she might understand and choose to live to respect Aqua's wishes . She will obviously be devastated and might even quit being an idol as her dream of surpassing Ai came true and with Kana retiring , this might be the end for B komachi . She would live but would never be able to move on and be happy . This wouldn't be a great end to her character as she would continue to suffer and become a liar to cope with the pain.
If she doesn't get to know the truth , she will feel guilty about not killing hikaru, blame herself and end up pulling a Misa Amane by jumping to her death ( ' Burning ' and 'Mephisto's' hospital scene supports this theory).
She literally has no reason to live anymore as she fulfilled Ai's wishes and her brother who was also her 'sensei' is no more . She is now an orphan whose pain can never be understood by anyone . Everyone whom she cared for died( Ai, Aqua,Gorou) or abandoned her(marina) . This is probably the ending we will be getting . I honestly dont mind seeing this ending as Aqua and Ruby were always meant to be together. Both of them have fulfilled their purpose of reincarnation with Ruby becoming the best idol and Aqua bringing justice to his mom and making Ruby's, Mem's ,Kana's and Akane's career successful.
Ai and the twins will finally be reunited shining together brightly in the night sky. They are just too damn pure for this world .

Kana - never even got a kiss in and couldn't express her feelings, Akane- couldnt keep her promise of saving Aqua, Miyako - would be devastated over the loss of her son and would most likely keep Ruby away from the entertainment industry to save her from the same fate as Ai and Aqua( if Ruby chooses to live) . If Ruby died Miyako would just quit strawberry production( she is wealthy enough ) and be heartbroken . Ichigo - failed everyone ( Ai, Aqua, Ruby , was an absent husband to Miyako etc) , Taiki - never got to know his younger siblings, Mem- lost the friend who made her an idol , never got a chance to thank him .

This is the saddest Halloween ever. Aqua literally died for real and I'm still in denial. Akane's reaction was fantastic. I know Kana's feelings for Aqua are mutual but some part of me feels like Akane still loves Aqua. I mean, “I'd go to hell as long as I am with you.” seems like a rather romantic thing to say.
Also, I wish more people would talk about Miyako's grief upon not being able to save her son. She may end up with major gulit and think that she spent too much time on making Ruby successfull rather than keeping an eye on Aqua.

I think I disagree, I don't think Aqua was happy to die in the end, at one point he actually wanted to live which tells me he regretted having this cold, lonely and miserable death. About Akane's 3 options, I think he end up choosing a similar death to the pit of tarantulas, judging what extreme cold water does to the body. I think that Ruby's reaction can either be sad and devastating (what I'm sure many are expecting) or she could go into shock and not be able to process it. Not sure which route they will go, but I agree that she and we deserve a full chapter. At this point, I'm not sure how the last chapter will go but I'm just hoping that the ending of this story is not a tragic one, it will be such a hollow ending.
I think the main thing that keeps me from believing Aqua is 100% dead is Kana, through out the whole show they kept building her out like she was endgame, she even mentioned something about her being mad if he died, I just cannot believe she never had a W, after being teased and depressed about him being with another girl the entire show, hell even Ruby had her turn kissing him (twice). Kana’s ending seems particularly cruel, almost too cruel to be true, if revenge was truly what it was all about, then every kana interaction in retrospective seems like a waste of time…
It's not fukking bittersweet, I tell you. It's THE BAD ending. He did not only consider Ruby's feelings of her death, but EVERYONE ELSE AROUND HIM. I now understand how dark Aka wanted his main story to get.

Just like in Mephisito, you'll most likely see either in 165 or in 166 in the end an older Ruby thinking about Aqua from the hospital roof. I mean the rest of the song animation shows foreshadowed what is happening right now. As I state over and over, Aka going through killing off your own main character takes a lot of guts and turning this series into a tragedy. I already commented that Aka tried to put in a murder plot in Love is War, but the editors convinced him not to do it. If you want to see a HAPPY ending then read Love is War. @@ZephyrRetro I always refer to chapter 142 when Aka and Mengo self inserted themselves saying you can't be afraid. You have to pull the trigger on these tough decisions and take responsibility.
im gonna predict that this too is a vision of a potential life and not reality, i dont think this is cope since im not actually that invested in this story yet, but i dont think him dying ultimately lines up with a lot of aquas character or the stories plotlines
