    That looks like quite a powerful, sophisticated system. Great going!

    You have such a big place in there, thats just perfect! The fence is needed so that we can make sure our pets are not going outside and serves as an extra protection too! Solar is important and very convenient, saves up so many bills! Thank you for sharing your works here, so brilliant!❤

      Hi Trish, yes I totally agree, the solar fence was one of the first things we had to do when we moved here. Our beaglier likes to wander😬given the chance. He hasn’t managed to get out since putting the fence on.
      Thanks for watching😀.

    What a great system. I have a very good friend who is off grid and I am learning a bit from him.

    What a brilliant video and such great info! I love that your son is involved, it’s so nice to see. He’ll learn so much!! My son is 17 tomorrow and not the keenest to be involved in videos but is a great help when I’m editing and giving ideas for filming 😊
    We’re so keen to get solar!! We have a solar hot water service but to have everything on solar is a dream! Amazing work!!

    Different angles for different season for the solar panels. Thanks for the tips, planning on off grid to with solar panels system.

      Yes the different angles works really well for us. Let’s us know when you get to go Off-Grid. We’d love to see the system you install.

    G'day guys.
    That was great! Definitely the way to go when faced with the cost of joining the grid and staying on it. Really well done!
    We are not off grid here, but were very fortunate that the Victorian Government had an good rebate scheme for solar after we built, so we took advantage of that and got a big system installed. With 9 of us here and young adult kids and teens, I'm surprised all the computers and big TVs don't drain the nearby town of their supply. 😂
    The solar panels have definitely helped us reduce our bills significantly.
    Love your set up and looking forward to checking out your property and channel more.
    All the best,
    Daz.

    Your video is so well made and informative. We have so much money invested in utilities here, it’s sad really.
    Take care,

      I would imagine it would be hard to be just solar with a property as big as yours.
      Thanks for watching.
      Cheers Deb.

    We live in Windermere, Florida zone 9b USA 🇺🇸
    We live in a development where lot size is 50 feet by 125 feet (1/6 acre) We have 33 solar panels that covers our needs.
    We are still on the grid and have power day and night. We don't have a battery.
    We love our solar 👍

    Have you guys thought about a Home BioGas for your cooking gas?

    • @simplyoffgrid-australia
      @simplyoffgrid-australia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No we hadn't. It would certainly be a lot cheaper than buying bottled gas every couple of Months. We will look into that further. Thanks for the tip :)

      @@simplyoffgrid-australia it can be hooked up to a toilet so it gets fed enough, and it can provide you with 2.5 hours of clean cooking gas every day! 😊

      I cant wait to set my Home Biogas set up, I should get it out now and go collecting cow poop

    • @OurSmallFootprint
      @OurSmallFootprint ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We bought a Home BioGas unit (way back when the first version was a kickstarter) but found we just couldn't efficiently get it started without our own large poop making animals and the -8 nights in winter, keeping it warm enough to keep churning was going to be an issue on our limited power etc, and the amount of gas we'd get from it was not enough for the input for us! But I use my stoves a lot :D

    • @huntandgatherfarmstead
      @huntandgatherfarmstead ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OurSmallFootprint that's really good feedback! We have only just started ours, and we have a family of 7. Our winter nights don't get as cold as yours, but I think it will still struggle over the winter to maintain the heat. However, we cook a lot over open fire or with our Metters over winter.
      I think running it off the toilet would feed it sufficiently, if you don't have livestock that could supply for it? And also, putting a greenhouse over it would help keep the heat to keep it functioning over the cold season.
