About Us:
We're Alex & Sarah, a young couple on the North Coast of New South Wales, Australia, who decided to move off grid and leave the city life behind in search of more peace and simplicity. Follow our journey as we share what we learn along the way while building our Fully Off Grid Home & restoring our Overgrown Organic Tea Tree Plantation.

Thanks for sharing! Very informative!
Very good tips there, it's always best to go check out what your buying👍
Great information there, keep the vids coming.
Love seeing you both making videos more often :)
Thanks Amanda 🤠
It's good to be getting back into it for sure, been a bit of a random year but things are slowly starting to make sense again 🙂
Awesomeness me video and tips, with a great start.. bloody March flies 😂
Those things suck 😅
Good vid
Mine got container rain in them so I'm in the proccess of repainting and organizing a whirlybird vent to the roof
Oh man there are so many scams out there which has put me off getting one! This is a great video guys! packed full of great info!
Thanks Zoom and Bettie, hope you guys are well 🙂
And yeah it's a bit of a weird space out there.. must be enough people falling for the 'too good to be true' ads for there to be so many scams 😐
@@offgridcitycouple5695 it's just a numbers game. Even if 1/10,000 people fall for it and shell out $$$ then it's worth it. Scammers suck. I enjoy those channels where they take down scammers lol
@@theadventuresofzoomandbettie I think if we drove to that random address the scammer provided some farmer would've been there like, what the hell are all these people doing here lookin at my containers?!
@@offgridcitycouple5695 LOL.... it's almost worth it for the story....
"Bloody March Flies"!! There's your first introduction too living off grid in Australia!! LOL!! On a serioius note though...very informative information!! I have been looking at shipping containers/living off grid for a long time!!
Thanks Uppanadam 😅 March flies were terrible last year haha.
Glad we could shed some light on the matter. Also noticed at the end of the last financial year they had good deals on, happened right after we bought ours but would've been a good way to pay a bit less
1/2 baby oil
1/2 dettol disinfectant
splash oil u like t tree/ peppermint / rosemary / eucalyptus
mozzyes wont bite you too - shake b4 use
It's pronounced 'pateena'. And a tilt tray will only deliver a 20ft container. If you want a 40 ft you'll need a sideloader and solid surface for the truck to drive on.
And it's definitely not a good idea to try and shift one with your car winch.. bad idea 😬
Just subbed nice to see
Thanks Donal ✌️
@@offgridcitycouple5695 I am in Brisbane and looking to do the same, but to get good land is very expensive
@@ciaranfranklin7590 it's exciting you're looking for a big lifestyle change 🙂
Not cheap for sure out there but we saved a lot of money by getting something that looked abandoned and required flood/fire safety infrastructure.
Despite all that it's really rewarding to be planning how it all turns out and in the end it will probably still cost less than half of an apartment near the city
2nd hand sounds good but more trouble then It's worth, new would be best? I'm dreaming about doing this here In Aus. Don't have $$$ just dreaming for now
All a balance of priorities really. If you have a lot of time & not much money, maybe restoring an older one would be good. You could save like $2.5K with a DIY approach 🙂
I don't even had land atm, I'm In Penrith NSW Sydney, just looking at buying houses and thought of doing this might be cheaper lols. maybe If I win the lotto or something. @@offgridcitycouple5695
Shipping containers are great for secure storage but I’d just like to point out it’s actually dangerous to store fuel in them.
Oh yeah do we need to put a vent in the top?
Can't keep em outside either cause then if there's a fire that's even more dangerous 😐
I deleted the comment. I'm working my way through and forgot this was a year ago. 😁
Haha all good, time flies!
We're sorting through about 700 videos right now from the last 4 months of the mound/dam build, irrigation system, driveway repairs... Some cool stuff to come 🙂
Why did you geet the container placed off the land? a re you staying in one place at a farm for the foreseeable future?
Still at that farm a few min down the road from ours. Our place is still a work in orogress BUT we've got some cool projects coming up in the next few weeks to make it ready for OGCC TO return home 🙂
