I decided to immediately buy an upgrade board for this laptop, because I saw a board at a good price that was written for such a laptop, but with a 12900 processor. So I postponed the option of upgrading the laptop and returned the laptop back to the seller. Now I ordered, bought the rest of the parts, and am assembling the laptop in parts. The store sells such a laptop with 64 RAM, and the manufacturer’s website indicates the maximum RAM size is 32. Can anyone tell me if this could be the case?

I had an alienware laptop, with the same motherboard as the 5520. a 4th generation nvme ssd was installed there. Only there it was connected in the BIOS as Intel Optane. For such an installation, before installing the Windows system, you need to download a driver for this configuration. but if in the BIOS you select the mode not Intel Optan, but UEFI or AHCI, then a special driver is not required.
it's the rj45 and p2 bus, mostly a pci, thus alike a m2 compatible connector, if not compatible, but you'd have to give up either it or the 2 usb ports. Unfortunatelly, it looks like they left it out on purpose, since it even have threads the size of a ssd, just lack the connector.

Any brand DDR5, WITHOUT XMP. Initially I had bought some Kingston RAMs, but they supported XMP - so they could not be seen from the board. I bought some Crucial RAMs and they work like a charm.
i seen a review on amazon where the guy confirmed installing 64gb ram. i bought 32gb stick and installed it with one of the original 8gb and running 40gb for now, until i get the 2nd 32gb stick
@@mhDuke thinking doing the same thing. might pick up just 1 x 32gb for now and see how it runs. I find that 16GB is like the BARE minimum these days. all the new programs and stuff are such resource hogs. I stripped my Dell 5521 SE and installed windows fresh. Even after basic Alienware CC and Dell Support Assistant, and a few other basic windows services, almost 50% of my 16GB are in use during normal operation.

Gaming doesn't last long. The power draws are alot for a mobile battery. You also might need to replace it if it's a few years old. Really easy with this model.

I regret buying this shit 120hz va panel no extra ssd slots no rgb keyboard no type c charging 56wh battery that lasts 3-4 hrs on power efficiency at 60hz at first it used to heat a lot so had to reset quite few times the alienware cmd centre is a joke it shows wrong data of cpu frequency on idle it will be showing the cpu is running at 4.12 ghz how is that possible and when i check the hw moniter or task manager it will be at 1.80ghz Plus the bulky size this weight like 1.8kg the laptop only i had to buy this cause my father couldnt trust any other company ofc typical old thinking dell is very good . @@menanagy7617 on my laptops Dell G 16 7620, also known as G 15 5520 according to BIOS, Intel I9-1290 rtx 3070 ti, the motherboard is identical to G 15 5520, and Alienware M 15 R 7, also known as M 17 R 5, they work on these two laptops memory sticks 64 GB, 4800 MHz. although the memory sticks are 5200 MHz. no problems at all. everything works fine.
This inverted motherboard makes it very difficult to change thermal paste as it is more work to open it
Its not any more difficult, just alot more screws and messing about, to complete the task.
