- What's the best course to pick for pre-med in the Philippines?
There are so many options for pre-med - Biology, Nursing, Medical Technology, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, Psychiatry, etcetera - but how do you know which one is best FOR YOU?
It's good to be practical in deciding your college / pre-med and I discussed that in PART 1 ( • How To Choose Your Pre... ).
But in this video, I will tell you WHY and HOW you should be more personal in your approach. This is just my advice! :)

i suggest you take either bs/ab psychology if di ka pa sure na magme-med. kase you can take naman psychometrician exam and work na agad if you passed. And also there are a lot of oppurtunities para sa isang psychology degree holder since malaki-laki ang sakop ng psychology itself.
P.S. Hindi po madali ang psych. Walang madali sa psych. STOP STEREOTYPING 🙃

I have this one classmate in med school and her pre-med course is BS Nutrition. Master tactician of Human Biochemistry. Kabisado niya lahat! It made me realize na sana nag Nutrition din ako as my pre-med since we only had the subject for 2 hours or days of lecture. Hindi ko nilalahat but doctors barely glance the Nutrition subject in med school. Ganda sana ng combination. ☺️
I'm a licensed medical technologist already and every time i go to duty, i can't help but look at the doctors and tell myself "i want to be one of'em" pero im still scared to pursue medicine though hahaha

hello, doc aura! I am an incoming grade 11 STEM student and I've been wanting to be a doctor since I was a kid. I started being really curious about the process when I was in 8th grade so I started asking both of my parents about med school and everything else since they both took medtech as their pre-med and everything that I heard from them made me more interested in medicine. I thought they were all I need, and that their advices are enough but then I ran into your channel while I was watching ate baninay's video . and I didn't regret that i went through your channel. after watching all of your videos, I got more inspired and motivated. watching you and hearing your thoughts and opinions on things that are involved with med school made me want to pursue being a doctor even more. your channel is very helpful to me and I am looking forward to learning more from you. you are an inspiration doc aura! when I become a successful doctor in the near future, know that you have become a big part of my journey. love you!!

I wish your channel was around when I was going into college! I've just graduated BS Medical Technology and to be honest I went into it without knowing what I was getting into. I've grown to love it, though, and now I'm preparing for the upcoming licensure exam. For those still thinking about what to major in during college, especially as a pre-med, Med Tech is a great route.

I choose MedTech because IF EVER by chance I didn't pursue medicine proper, I can still do the things I love like growing bacteria and taking bloods 😁

Aura Azarcon uhm pano ba hehehe. Wala po kasi talaga akong specific na maibibigay pero pag naglalab kasi kami mostly we're dealing with body fluids so medyo kadiri at some point pero as time pass-by wala na talaga nakakatibay ng sikmura. Tapos kapag lab ang laging assignment ni prof ay mag dala ng dugo, poop or urine etc. hahahaha nakakatuwa lang kasi though ine-encourage kami na kumuha sa ibang tao (not within the class) kami-kami parin yung nagkukuhaan or minsan po sa sarili pa namin. Nakakatuwa lang na parang dinadiagnose namin yung mga sarili namin though most of the time naman po normal kami kaya ine encourage kami ng prof na kumuha sa ibang tao para if ever madiagnose daw namin kung mataas ba cholesterol etc. I love the fact na how MedTechs and doctors collab with each other to diagnose the disease of the patient. Basta ang saya po hahahahaha.

I really don't know what I want to pursue pero when it comes to Medicine stuff, most of the times it catches my attention. And I really love watching Grey's Anatomy and other series na related sa med. naa-amaze kasi akolalo na kapag sa mga surgeries parang gusto ko rin maging surgeon ganonhaha. well im in senior high school na and I think i'll take med pero ewan din. I don't really study well like yung mag-aaral talaga ng mabuti, well I'm not like that and isa sa mga reasons na yan kung bakit feel ko di ako makakapagsurvive ng med school.pero I love biology I just think I'm not good enough.
So confusing. Cant choose what to take for pre-med. Still undecided. Urghhhh😣!! But this video made me realize that whatever you take, you may find it hard but as long as you put love and determination in there you will realize how worth it and really amazing it is. So ayun I've been making research. Nalilito na po ako kung Nursing, Biology, Psy, or Med tech ang kukunin ko as pre med. Kaso unsure pako kung saang field ako magiging doctor. Wala pa akong idea. Nagsesearch ako and I think Neurosurgeon ang gusto kong kunin kaso parang gusto ko magnursing. Di ko na po talaga alam!

Alanis Zaf I'm currently in my 3rd year and yes mahirap talaga sya pero kakayanin kung gusto mo talaga mag PT. when It comes to money, yes may kamahalan ang PT course and yung mga things that na kakailanganin like books and equipment but some of those things you can borrow if wala talaga. 😊
Alanis Zaf as of now kailangan namin ng EMS around 1600 sya, hindi pa ko bumibili pero required sya dahil magagamit din sa internship. To be honest gusto kong magtrabaho sa clinic or hospital pagkatapos then isasabay ko yung masters. 😊

So here's a thing I'm currently at a hospital rn idk if we are even allowed to enter a restricted area like this (as a whole family) I swear I keep on glancing at the doctor who is treating my aunt (she got into an accident and might undergo surgery afterwards *because I think she has broken 2 bones and lots of minor bruises but her legs is worst I couldn't even look at it* I'm exagerating or maybe not I just tell stories like this but honestly the doctor look pissed or idk maybe his just like that but never mind that I'm seriously taking all of my opportunity to lurk around and see how things is doing around here and believe me I kinda get excited I am imagining myself being a doctor rn idk why I'm even writing this but I am seriously and honestly convence that I wanted to be a DOCTOR its different when you just go and visit a family member or anyone who is being admitted in a hospital I swear everyone who is in doubt of going into med school need to atleast experience what I'm experiencing ..And there are like 6 to 7 doctors in the area then maybe 10 to 15 nurses? and I'm like looking at each one of them I think one of the doctor thinks I'm weird or what bc I keep on looking at him then do some 360° turn every single minute (I think we are in a emergency room?) but srsly I like how thinks are moving so fast in this area and everyone going around and seeing patience GUYSSSS IM NOT OKAY 😣😂😭

I do like to pursue medicine but I'm worried like what if hindi ko kaya? What if hindi ako makapasa? What if walang patutunguhan to? I'm really scared... Now I'm an upcoming grade 11 student this school year but I'm still in doubt if I will choose STEM but I made up my mind later on cause deep inside me I want to.. I'm just so scared... Hi, I was just wondering, how does one get into a residency position in the Philippines? In the US, during the match process an algorithm will match you based preferences and on how highly the hospital / residency thinks of you. Do you have about the same process in there? Maybe you could talk about it and mention some specialties you are considering if you haven't already done. Keep inspiring. Thanks!
I did not watch the video but if I were to be asked i'd say med tech is an excellent choice for pre-med. Simula 1st year lahat ng kaklase ko na med tech nag eexcel. Kung generally slow person ka, matutulungan ka ng course how to study smart in med school. Just my opinion.
I'm a grade 12 student and I have been wanting psychology as my pre-med ever since i was 13 years old because I'm really interested in human mind, but I heard that the salary is low and it's hard to look for a job after (if ever I won't proceed) so my parents doesn't like me to take it and now I don't know what should I take because other than psychology, other courses doesn't interest me.

Thank You Doc Aura, I've been struggling this past few weeks becuase of what would I do after graduation. Opo, 4th Year Medical Technology Student po ako galing University of the Immaculate Conception, Davao City. I'm still on the stage of thinking hat to do after graduation. Mag tatake ba ako ang MedTech boards or go straight na agadagad sa Med school? Thank you po for this helpful advise Doc Aura. I don't know why but I think I should go to take muna the MedTech Boards bago Med. I think I should create a life changing scenario in life bago mag med and that's getting my RMT Licesence.
I'm 3rd year in my current degree program (after transferring due to death in the family; that had me reset college education back to first year!). But recently, a lot, I find myself interested with diseases and how to deal with them though early on, a decade ago, when I first have to think seriously about tertiary education, I immediately said no to medicine and anything that has to do with it (like BS Nursing which was the dad program during that time) because of my eerie feeling seeing blood. But I'm wondering now why I should be hindered by a kind of 'fear' and why would I find interest in these things. Anyway, I like the course that I am in currently but if I should pursue medicine, Lord-willing, is Agribusiness Management a course that will serve good as a premed? Haha NMAT requires ANY course anyway. And those 3 goals that you mentioned, to which I agree, can be achieved still in this course. :3

I'm a new subscriber and I'm an aspiring med student but I can't choose which course should I pick. I'm thinking of taking psychology or Forensic Science because these are courses that caught my interest. Also I'm still 14
I'm an incoming pre-med student. And i'm still confuse between Bs Biology and Bs Physical Therapy. I want to take Bs Biology because i think meron talaga siyang edge sa NMAT and i also like the subjects as well as the skills you cam develop from it not just essential for the program but as a person. On the other hand, BSPT just really interest me in such ways, however, the amount of reviews is really holding me back. I'm just curious , how did PT students review/studied for NMAT at the same time for NPTE? I need help. I've watched and research related and essential vids and i'm still confuse.

wow katuwa naman gusto mo pala maging RND (Registered Nutritionist Dietitian), hehe bakit naman ayaw ng mom mo? baka akala nya magiging cook ka hehehe ganyan kasi talaga sa una akala nila eh cook ang magiging field ng RND, pero it's a BIG NO! yes you will learn the principles of cooking pero sobrang basic lang di mo pa rin matatalo ang mga chef hehe iba ang curriculum nila.... Nutrition & Dietetics is a science, to be exact health science na may halong food science, kaya nga nagaaral nga din kami ng anatomy & physio, microbio, chemistry, medical nutrition (ito yung specific na subj kung saan matutunan mo ang ibat ibang diet, pero kailangan magaling ka din sa anaphy at biochem, kasi maypahapyaw dyan +++ the fact na kelangan mong magcompute at gumawa ng cycle menu) tapos maliban sa science dahil nga interdisciplinary eh pagaaralan nyo din ang gumawa ng nut. program, at literal na para kayong politiko hehehe :) ... tapos dahil nga nutrition is also a food related program may mga food sciences subjects din kayo like fundamentals of food tech basic foods and alam mo yung may chemistry at bio s'ya as in, pero mag luluto kayo pero mostly experimental cookery s'ya! tapos may mga basic HRM and mind you para din kayong businessman dahil literal na magpropose kayo ng restaurant as in seryoso, kaya nga ako personally nagenjoy sa program dahil ang lawak n'ya, hehehe :) Now mag med ka ba? ok lang din naman s'ya as pre med course kasi may ptx interaction kayo and may assessment + ako yung medcharting, kailangan matuto ka magbasa ng chart ng patient kasi kelangan mo talagang ireview yun dahil of course baka may mga signs & symptoms o kaya med na nut. related, kaya i think ok naman.
for PT, maganda din s'ya health related din kasi and as a pre-med course maganda din s'ya... and for sure may ptx interaction din. sorry wala akong masabi sa PT huhu di ko nman din kasi ganun ka alam ang program nila.
So ang conclusion, follow your heart, ano ba talaga ang interest mo? kung food & health eh of course yung BSND, kung exercise & fitness eh di yung PT. basta ang assurance ko sa iyo eh lahat sila HEALTH RELATED PROGRAMS
