Good day Dr. Aura! I am one of your silent viewers and I've been watching your vlogs since last year when I decided to research about my dream profession. I really want to thank you for making these vlogs that give an overview about the medical field, and also for inspiring many people to become doctors! Just like most of them, I was more motivated to pursue this career because of your words and descriptions! As of now, I'm experiencing a dilemma due to the misalignment of my SHS course to my dream course. My parents push me to take the shorter road to earn money and choose a college course related to my SHS strand, but I really can't see myself in that course and I'd really love to pursue the medical career. Because I know that it'll take long for me to earn money and support my family if I'd pursue my dream, I've considered choosing practicality then passion. My plan is to take BS Chemistry as pre-med then work for a short time before entering med school. I chose Chemistry because among all of the pre-med courses, I am very interested in Chemistry and the salary of a licensed chemist is pretty good too. However, I haven't weighed the advantages of this course in med school. I also haven't heard of testimonies from med students who took Chemistry before. I know you don't like spoonfeeding us about these kinds of information but I'm hoping that you may know someone that can help and I also aim to get suggestions from the community. Moreover, I also know that you're a busy person, but I'd really appreciate it if you can give me feedback. Again, thank you very much Dr. Aura for the motivational words and goodluck on your journey! Keep fighting! The community is always here to support you! 💛
Sharing my thoughts on my course since I’m only on my 2nd year of pre-med: Hi! I’m currently taking up BS Premed Physics and am at my 2nd year already. Whenever people ask me about my course they always seem shocked or surprised that I’m taking up physics as my premed course. I always say that my course isn’t PURELY PHYSICS BASED, it is mixed with all the basic subjects that are necessary for med school such as chemistry, physics, biology, math (?), and a little bit of social science. It is, however, very much different from your traditional courses such as BS Bio, Medtech, Nursing, Pharmacy etc. since we don’t have subjects such as but not limited to Immunology, Pharmacy, Parasitology, Entomology and the like. We do have subjects like Cell Bio, Physio, Anatomy, Microbio, Embryology and the like and also our specialty courses (which I am very much excited about) Medical Imaging (X-rays), Radiation Therapy, Health Physics, Radiation Biology, Radiation Physics etc. One may say that our course is geared more into the Radiology/Nuclear Medicine side of medicine, which for me is true, but my course gives us a different perspective and a wide variety of skills that may or may not be offered by other courses. It may seem an unconventional course to take before taking up med school but it gives you a more in depth knowledge of how the body works and how you can relate the environment to the human body. Some may say ay physics “di ko kaya yan, mahirap, may math etc.”I can atest to that since I am not good in math and physics and yet here I am taking a class about Modern Physics and passed my previous physics classes. This course is not for those who are good in physics or math but those are good in knowing how to study and how to apply your knowledge and also for those who are hardworkers. I may be at my 2nd year but so far I can say it is HARD but it is FULFILLING to say the least. It has changed the way how I think and analyze problems and situations that require critical and fast thinking. If you wanna know more, you may dm me (check my videos on my channel for my social media), but I really hope this helps Ate Aura! :))

Any course will do but bachelor of science in medical technology/ lab sciences, nursing, biology and other related courses has an edge or advantage in terms of basic scientific or medical knowledge. Background in major subjects that are more related to science and medicine is very helpful for example anatomy, histology, microbiology, parasitology, and etc. However, I’ve known other people who became a successful and good doctor even if their pre-med courses are not bachelor in sciences (engineering, chemistry, foodtech and etc). It will always be yourself and your dream, your eagerness to learn. Most importantly, medicine is a calling. Everyone can pass the NMAT, enroll at a medical school...but only few are being called to do the humble job. Do it because you want to help and be an instrument of healing.
I recommend considering Rehab. Courses for pre-med (PT,OT, Speech) solid din foundation esp. sa Ana and Physio. Also medical and surgical conditions, plus patient handling talaga w/c will def help you become a good doctor AND magandang back up siya since very in demand both here and abroad 🙂. Taking up Occupational Therapy and about to take the NMAT tomorrow 🙏🙏🙏😭
Kung ako lang tatanungin, BS BIOLOGY talaga ang best pre med IF YOU WANT TO STUDY IN PLM FOR MEDICINE kasi may required na units ang kailangan mong ma meet and lahat ng required units ay nakapaloob na sa buong premed course na BS BIO. Kasi if you want to study medicine in plm, and you don't have enough number of units in a subject, kailangan mong kuhanin yung mga units na kulang mo or else hindi ka matatanggap. So hassle pag kukuha ng units and magbabayad kapa, but I'm not discouraging you to take your preferred premed.
agree with this! take note PLM Med aspirants na strict sila with the required units. classmates ko nag summer class pa before med school para makapasok sa PLM.
@@anemari5809 i think so, kasi ang alam ko talaga bio ang pinaka fit na pre med when it comes in units which is necessary only if you want to study at plm med. And parang konti lang naman kasi may nabasa akong blog, which is psychology sya and 3 units lang ang kulang nya na physics. Don't worry pwede ka paring matanggap kahit may kulang kang units as long as pumayag ka sa waiver ata yun na magcocomply ka or to follow nalang yung ibang units.
hello! i’m a 1st year bs bio student. i just want to give you some ideas regarding my pre-med course (based from my 1st sem experience haha) it’s really more on the biodiversity and general principles of science. so most of the time we are dealing with plants and animals, collecting specimens and dissecting in the lab. not unlike medtech and nursing (which most of my friends took) na 1st sem palang andami na nilang natackle regarding medical/clinical experience like naranasan na nila kumuha ng dugo sa patient and nagsaulo na sila ng anatomical parts ng systems. so ayun, short idea lang yan. weigh mo nalang kung saan ka mas interested. goodluck!
I am a graduating medtech student. So far, i can say it’s a good pre-med course (Not being biased tho). In medtech, we focus more on laboratory tests and works with specimens. We do not diagnose a disease. Well maybe yes, somehow. We know the diagnosis, but we aren’t allowed to rely it to patients. We receive test requests (Urinalysis, fecalysis, complete blood count, etc.) from doctors and give them tests results. I believe most of doctor’s diagnosis are based on lab results, so it’s really a good pre-med course. A disadvantage i can share is that, medtechs aren’t engaged much with patients. The only time we handle patients is when we draw blood samples and other specimens. Hope this could help you! 🥰
Audrey Destine ur still in first yr so basically general ideas muna talaga dapat mo itake anyway enjoy nmn bsbio esp genetics and micro (which can be medically-relevant)
Sa BS Medical Laboratory Science the best pre med yata... Professional subject Microbio¶sitology Cytology Histocytology Histopath Ibang school may pharmacology Serology and immunology Molecular bio Phlebotomy Bacteriology Clinical chemistry Blood bank Yah, Pero mahirap ang BS MLS
Hi doc hihi! Dentistry covers all the subjects you mentioned but that’s another 6 years 🙈 I know lots of people who proceeded to Med after they got their Dentistry license.

BS Radiologic Technology here. Sobrang hirap po. Wala kang kamuwang-muwang sa Biochem, may edge ka sa Anatomy pero angat ka sa Bones (based on experience), nganga sa Physiology. Pero I survived.

Hi Doc Aura I'm currently taking up Civil Engineering (graduating) but I want to be a Doctor. After I graduated my course do I need to take premed course?
I’m a BS Psychology graduate and often we are degraded kasi daw kami ang weakest PreMed course. Sabi nila Psych grads usually flunk med school kasi daw light sciences lang daw tinetake namin. As a Psych grad, it really breaks my heart and nakakadown ng self esteem. Sana mag stop na ang ganoong mindset.
Don't let that discourage you!

@@alexisanselm3840 maganda daw ang pharmacy because it has lots of advantages first since their special is more on medicines you have more knowledge when it comes to medicine and also ako dn kc iniisip ko magpharma as a pre med and iniisip ko kapag kung sakaling biglang nagkafinancial problem sa med school (i know may scholarship nmn, pero what if kung biglang nagkaproblema dun) marami akong babagsakan na trabaho like marami ngaun ang naghahanap ng pharmacist (mababa nga lng ang sweldo) and kung sakaling makapagipon ka pa edi pwede ka pang magpatayo ng pharmacy so I'm thinking of pharmacy as my pre med😅 skl
are you a psych student? aaah can you share your experience, pls? does it have subjects naman ba na makakatulong for med school? i'm planning to study psychology as my pre-med because i think i will really enjoy it + i'm aiming to specialize in psychiatry
1st year palang nag eenjoy na ko hahaha ma bu-build talaga yung empathy mo and the way you approach people na magagamit din siguro sa future patients mo tsaka if given the opportunity na maganda yung college baka mag dissect kayo ng human brain ganon. Good luck in choosing ur pre-med :))
@@dearcomrade2358 take BS PSYCHOLOGY instead of AB PSYCHOLOGY..may mga additional science subject kasi sa BS like Anatomy and Physiology, Physiological Chemistry,Organic Chemistry,NatScie sa ibang school meron sila Zoology. Kaya lang sa psych, psychotherapy ang intervention so walang pharmacology na subject..ang Psychiatrist kasi meron prescription.. waaaaaaaaah every time im watching your vlog ate, i am being motivated to push doctor degreeee wahhhhhhhh
1st year bs respiratory therapy here!! planning to specialize in pulmo ❤️
Do it because you want to help and be an instrument of healing.
im excited for the discussion of different pre med courses!!
Taking up Occupational Therapy and about to take the NMAT tomorrow 🙏🙏🙏😭
good luck!!!
@@AuraAzarcon Huhu thank you Doc! Will help you in your survey po! 😁
grade 12 STEM student here! i'm planning to take BS Psychology for my pre-med course and i'm planning to specialize in psychiatry soon aaaaah ;___;
Hi Ate Aura!! Love all your vids 💙💙💙
I'm a BS Respiratory Therapy Graduate.
And I think it's a good pre-med course btw 💙
answer the survey PLEASE!!
Mark Swiftie Yes meron, what's yours? I'll add you na lang 😊
thank you for this doktAURA!
I am so excited for this series yayyyyy!!! I'd love to contribute to your survey however i'm still a baby 1st year HAHAHAHA
I miss you Ate Auraaaa! 😍😍
Hi dok PT studenr here! And future doctor🥰🥰
PT! best in anatomy! answer the survey if you can :D
One of the hardest pre-med course and licensure exam!
Paano po pag Medtech kinuha? Madami bang kulang na kailangan kuhain??
@@anemari5809 i think so, kasi ang alam ko talaga bio ang pinaka fit na pre med when it comes in units which is necessary only if you want to study at plm med. And parang konti lang naman kasi may nabasa akong blog, which is psychology sya and 3 units lang ang kulang nya na physics. Don't worry pwede ka paring matanggap kahit may kulang kang units as long as pumayag ka sa waiver ata yun na magcocomply ka or to follow nalang yung ibang units.
@@nievacarlandrei9577 Sana nga po onti lang. Thank you
GOSH I REALLY NEED THIS THANK YOUUU DOC HUHUHUHUHU
Currently on my 1st year as a Medical Laboratory Science student. Fighting!!! 💓
i'm curious with this course po and this is one of my options in college. Any suggestions po what should i do in taking this course?? Thank youu
Torn between BS Nursing/ BS Bio and BS Medtech 😭💔
hello! i’m a 1st year bs bio student. i just want to give you some ideas regarding my pre-med course (based from my 1st sem experience haha) it’s really more on the biodiversity and general principles of science. so most of the time we are dealing with plants and animals, collecting specimens and dissecting in the lab. not unlike medtech and nursing (which most of my friends took) na 1st sem palang andami na nilang natackle regarding medical/clinical experience like naranasan na nila kumuha ng dugo sa patient and nagsaulo na sila ng anatomical parts ng systems. so ayun, short idea lang yan. weigh mo nalang kung saan ka mas interested. goodluck!
Thank you maam 😭🙏🏻 i will really reflect upon it po talaga...
Blushing Petals thank you for the insights, this means a lot ❤️🙌🏻
Audrey Destine ur still in first yr so basically general ideas muna talaga dapat mo itake anyway enjoy nmn bsbio esp genetics and micro (which can be medically-relevant)
Sa BS Medical Laboratory Science the best pre med yata... Professional subject
Microbio¶sitology
Cytology
Histocytology
Histopath
Ibang school may pharmacology
Serology and immunology
Molecular bio
Phlebotomy
Bacteriology
Clinical chemistry
Blood bank
Yah, Pero mahirap ang BS MLS
LUV U DOK AURA!!!!!!!!!!♥️
love you thanks for being here so early :P
Ate Aura any thoughts about Intarmed of UP?
Doc Aura, is it okay to "PRE STUDY" before medschool?
Like reading in advance ? I took a year break after I graduated.
Hi doc hihi! Dentistry covers all the subjects you mentioned but that’s another 6 years 🙈 I know lots of people who proceeded to Med after they got their Dentistry license.
I am by no means confused of what pre med course i should take (kasi graduate na ako) but i'm still watching this kasi your fave ko talaga english accent mo doc. Hehe. Nmat ko na tomorrow!! Isang goodluck lang jan doc, motivated na me hehe.
anong course mo? haha and omg may accent na ba ako yuckz hahaaaa
@@AuraAzarcon huhu omg you noticed me again. 😭 bs psych po premed ko. And yes, may accent po kayoooo. ❤
NMAT na bukas 🙏✏
HOw about ask someone who took dentistry and then studies medicine?
Thank you so much for this Dok Aura! Im really torn between bs bio and bs nursing, sobrang stressful lately ng senior year ng g12..hirap pumili pero kailangan para sa pangarap
cant go wrong either way! pray for discernment :)
BS Radiologic Technology here. Sobrang hirap po. Wala kang kamuwang-muwang sa Biochem, may edge ka sa Anatomy pero angat ka sa Bones (based on experience), nganga sa Physiology. Pero I survived.
Hello doc. I hope you give advice to people whose premed courses are not medicine-related. Hehe. I am a Communication graduate. And I realized I want to become a doctor. It would be good to have some encouragement to people like me. :D Anyway, I am planning to earn math and science units (especially medicine-related ones) first before taking the NMAT and eventually applying into med school.
Hi doc!! 2nd year nursing student currently affiliating sa mga hospitals and community... minsan toxic sasakit likod mo katatayo pati loob mo dahil may ibang doctors na nagpapagalit hehe pero still very determined to pursue med. School 😊😊😊 ikaw at ikaw talaga ang inspiration ko 😁😁 I was thinking nga mag audition sa pbb hahahaha para kumpleto na may doktor at may nurse 😂😂 baka magpa medical mission na si big brother hahahaha
Looking forward for a vid about NMAT🤧😊
I luv you dokieee 💗
Thank you, Ate. 😭😍

Hi, I like your laptop stand that raises your laptop. I bought one but it’s not high enough and my neck still hurts even after using the stand. Could you please provide a link where I could buy it?
from a filipino store called Papelmelroti way back in 2012
Please do a hospital paranormal experience since halloween po. An aspiring doctor here po!
Ano po bang magandang premed if gusto ko mag Internal Med? namimili pa kasi ako sa Medtech and PT, gusto ko sana PT kasi na eenjoy ko yung Anatomy. so ano ba talaga best for Internal Med
I really wanted to be a doctor and i'm still in high school and idk what pre-med should i take
physical therapy!
this series is for you yay
Ashley Lim Pharmacy ❤️
If you want to pursue Psychiatry..also consider BS PSYCHOLOGY MAJOR IN CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY..
But still advantage pa rin you will have a thorough understanding about mental disorder.
This is somewhat for me huhuhu I am entering college this 2020
this is 100% for u :)
Ate Auuu! Hellooooooo 💕
i'm a grade 11 stem student and i'm still stuck whether to pick BSN or BSMLS :((((
thanks ateeee
i wanna do the survey ate aura yet im still in 2nd yr huhuhuhuuuh
Bs Biology here 💕 1st yr student hihi
Hindi ko talaga alam kung anong pre-med course ang kukuhanin ko pero my dad insists me to take nursing.
😍❤yeyyy!!
is BS Nursing considered as pre med?
yes pwede!
Yes. It is
Halaa... Gusto ko din ma-feature💖.. HAHAHAHSHSHSHS
Ano pong magandang pre med itake for veterenary and derma?
Pano po pag derma? What is the best premed for that po?
hello po doc. hehe! i am 3rd year student..
Hi doc A! RN, MAN, Future MD here. I’m very interested to contribute for team Nurses ✨ but I can’t seem to access the survey form (only the links work) is there any other way to perhaps reach you? I have everything you need (course curric and photos) - and a good cam too (med vlogger, inspired by you) hehe 🥰
I want♥️
I'm a graduate of BSEd Biology (because wala akong balak mag med talaga). Although I know someone with the same course as me that got accepted in medschool pero syempre may variables parin na meron sakanya kaya sya nakapasok na maybe wala saken haha
May kumuha be dito ng BSPT? Hahahaha ECQ ngayon but in the coming academic year it will be my first year in college and I'll be taking bspt as a premed course. Thoughts anyone?
Hi Doc! Ask ko lng I'm a grade 12 senior high school student (humss strand) I'm still undecided sa course na kukunin ko in college, I want to be a MD rin. Like ako humms meaning Humanities and Social science, AB Political science, something likethat na courses. Ang goal ko po kumuha ng premed. Doc sana nagets mo hehe I'm still undecided
May second take po na ang nmat? Or one take lang?
