    I've had several Hi Point handguns over the years. They have proved themselves to be reliable and accurate. Currently, I have 2-9mm's and a 45. The 45, I bought used from a friend for $100. Its in pretty good shape, but the magazine release button was broken. One call to HP customer service- I had brand new parts, to repair it. And they actually sent 2. Plus, a new firing pin and firing pin springs, and a new guide rod and spring. I got the parts in just a few days- and all for free. I have dealt with almost all the gun companies over the years, and I have to say, Hi Point is just one of the best in the business ! These guns are very underated by many.

      HP customer service is legendary. I recall a video on TH-cam of a guy torturing an HP to death…dragging it down the road with his car, etc. he called HP to see if they would live up to their warranty claim of lifetime warranty. He admitted to the lady over the phone that he intentionally tried to torture test the HP. She said no problem and it was fixed like new! All other firearm manufacturers should take note. HP customer service and warranty is the gold standard for the firearm industry

    I own 20 different handguns from Glock to S&W to Kimber to Canik to Taurus and more in revolvers and semi autos. I bought a Hi Point .45 just to see how bad or good it is. It works flawlessly! I love this thing! It also confuses the heck out of me about the comments of people who say the Hi Point is ugly. Huh? Girls are ugly or pretty, cars are ugly or pretty...whoever bases a gun as ugly or pretty should probably be re-evaluating their life. My Hi Point works well, and it is absolutely worth it! What folks around here call a refrigerator gun. It's the kind of thing you leave on top of the fridge in case of emergency. It isn't your primary defense weapon. It doesn't have to be carry worthy, it doesn't have to look good, it just has to work.

    I appreciate you reviewing many less expensive firearms on your channel. Not everyone can afford thousands for a cool race gun or a big name firearm. High-Point is American made and has a good warranty. I've shot a couple in 9mm and found them reliable and accurate at the range. Cleaning them or field stripping is a bit nightmarish, but for most folks these are a sensible alternative for home defense. Thanks again.

    • @davix8356
      @davix8356 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's worth noting that Hi-Point says you just need to run a snake through the bore every few hundred rounds, and clean every few thousand rounds. Field stripping to clean isn't that difficult, but you wouldn't want to actually do it in the field, as you need to drive a roll pin out to do it. So it requires a punch, and a place to work where you won't lose a couple of little parts. Probably most owners (including me) clean them way more often than is necessary.

    A few years ago I went shooting with a few buddies on their ranch in TX, they handed me a HP 45ACP as a joke while they all shot their tricked out 1911's. I had zero complaints. As a big guy with huge hands it fit me very well. The heavy weight absorbs most of the recoil. After a day of using it I actually started to prefer it.

    • @mixup98
      @mixup98  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree with you VB....I am also a big guy and my HP .45 also feels really good in my hand. The weight, along with the easy to see sights, the accuracy and the reliability all made for a very fun day at the range with a cheap pistol that worked. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment on our video.

  • @nikolai60
    @nikolai60 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    They're big, heavy, ugly, and single stack. They're also reliable (with proper mags), overbuilt and hard to damage, and all that weight combined with their chunky grip means they absorb a lot of recoil relative to their competition.

      In the shooting community, Hi-Point is usually a punch line. A few years ago someone on TH-cam did an interview with the owner, it may have been forgotten weapons. Anyway, the principles that Hi-Points are built around are admirable and outstanding. The short version is the owner wanted EVERYONE to be able to exercise their 2A rights and protect themselves and their loved ones, even they couldn't afford a sexy sig or gucci glock. His goal was to make the most affordable firearms on the market that was 100% reliable with the cheapest poorest quality ammo available, while maintaining a high standard for accuracy. So even if you make $1,000 a month, it's in a price range where you could reasonably save up for it and it won't let you down. I don't know about y'all but in this day and age, it seems those principles are fairly important, and I'd definitely say the owner hit the nail on the head concerning his goals.

      @@VonGoth that's awesome, Taurus has been cranking out some good stuff recently, especially their G2/ G3 series and tx22, fairly certain those lines have beat out some of the gucci models for some awards in the community in the past few years, and subsequently changed their reputation in the community. Thing was absolutely hideous looking…but I didn’t buy it to put it on a pedestal and gawk at it all day. I got it for fun at the range and home protection. And it excelled at it! It was very accurate and extremely reliable. I ran everything I could through it…brass, +, cheap dirty Russian steel, etc. you name it and it was probably through it. The hi point ran it all without any complaints! At the end of the day…an assailant doesn’t care if the round came out of a $140 or a $14000 firearm…if it works and saved your life, that’s priceless

    Hi-Point is amazing to me because you get exactly what you pay for: essentially a heavy nerf gun that fires real bullets. I honestly would not mind buying at least one. Part of it would be because I like the way the company does business, the other is because with the way things are going, it's better to have an extra weapon stashed away somewhere just in case you can't reach your ultra-delux limited edition FN with the extended magazine, laser-light combo, suppressor and bipod.

    I recently bought one and the shipping plus the FFL handling fee cost more then the weapon itself! I paid a whopping $40 in a auction for it with minor use on it, while the shipping was $30 and the FFL handling was $35. I really like the nature of the weapon, and the company that stands behind their product. Honestly, people need to stop looking at their guns as fashion accessories and see them as tools. Would you rather your pretty "John Wick" super striker that cost $1,500 to sit in a evidence box, or your $100 Hi-point? Both would get the job done, but one won't have you in tears when the police slap that evidence tag on it. Remember folks, Hi-point has a life time no questions asked warranty. Even if you buy one used, you still get the life time warranty.

    Good shooting and excellent video guys..thanks.
    I think I paid $120 for my JHP45 back in 2007.
    I was so impressed I bought a newly released 995ts 9mm Carbine 18 months later and that impressed me so much I put my name on a waiting list for what seemed like forever awaiting the release of the 4595ts 45 acp Carbine that finally happened in 2011.
    I still have that 4595 and boy howdy does it still impress especially with Redball 20rd sticks...even after several 1000 rds during it's life.
    Everyone at the range has a laugh and a pokey joke for you and your Hi-Point's until the comparison paper comes back with your clover leaf groups and their decent groups from their $1000+ Kimber or Dan Wesson.
    The 4595ts is my favourite Carbine and there is nothing in the safe more fun to shoot, more accurate, or more capable at it's working distances.
    As for the JHP45 handgun, I actually like the shooting ergonomics and comfort of the JHP45 better than my Glock21...which I hate.
    Useful IS as useful DOES.

    My dad gave me his old 45 hi point pistol after he retired from a night security job, I've heard and seen all the bad reviews of hi point pistols but I don't see anything wrong for the price of these guns, it's big and bulky, not very comfortable in hand but I wouldn't want to be shot with one of them, I'm fairly certain it will do what it was made to do.

I think there’s something to sticking with larger calibers on Hi-Points due to the way they’re made. I didn’t have good luck with the C9 pistol and got rid of it.

    I own way more expensive pistols. Springfield 1911A1, M&P .40, M9 and a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt. I grab my hi point jhp .45 more than any other pistol I own. It's my go to sidearm when elk hunting in the high timber of Wyoming. It's more accurate than anything I own due to it's blow back action. I've got countless rounds through it and I have never had a single malfunction. Can't say that about my 1911A1 or my M&P. $160 out the door when I bought it and a lifetime warranty. I own a c-9 and 45 both work perfectly every time I pull the trigger with any type of ammo , both eat Russian steel , brass and aluminum with out any problem . I actually bought the c-9 used and it needed some repair parts for the mag release , one phone call to the folks in Ohio 3 days later and I had all the new parts I asked for and a few extras . The tech said it didn't matter if I was the 5th owner that Hi Point offers a no hassle no question warranty ! I carried the c-9 for my edc for about 2 years . heavy / YES , big / YES , but well worth the money especially if a Hi Point is all you can afford at the time . One thing I have found is that most folks that bash Hi Point have never owned one or even shot one but rather just hate from what others have told them ! like any firearm a Hi Point must be kept clean and lubed in order to function properly and about a 200 round break in period . enjoyed the vid !

      @@mixup98 That's very similar to my own story as well. Never met my father never regretted a single day of my life its been blessed from my first breath and no that doesnt mean silver spoons for those who may read this outside of the two of us. In fact my mom and grandmother were strong working class women starting with my grandmother coming from Spain to Elis Island in 1914 at the age of 3. Being amazingly unaccompanied other than her twin who died during the trip. She went to an orphanage where she was adopted by an Italian family. She later became a single mother a big no no back in those days. My never quit, never say die core belief all stem from my grandma & mom. I never cared after to even meet the man whos DNA helped create me especially after learning he denied my existence. I am 100% my Grandmother/Mother. My kids are my reason, my reason for every achievement as well as the failures from all the trying along the way. With every failed attempt we learn what works and what does not, instead of this unbecoming antiAmerican blame bs they use today. God created all, God sets us all out on a path and our tool is free will. No one is to blame for a damn thing. Its our minds our free will that told us to turn left over the cliff instead of Turing right to the parking lot. "I didnt have a father that why I Lie, Cheat & Steal!" is the excuse of the lost and the weak. I raised my children as I was. Its easy to see that you did the same and that I felt should be recognized. Dads are supposed to be hero's to their children. God bless you for being just that. Not to throw religion in as I know it may "offend" some, however freedom to speak my mind is our God given right just as it is to oppose what it is I'm saying. I didnt mean to rant on and on but your reply was, lets just say not a surprise to me whatsoever, I find more and more like us lived in very similar households in one way or the other. I have no regrets in my life, even of that which I should however without I would not be right where I am at this very moment even having this conversation in which I must say I am very grateful to have with you. Yet another who has given me hope that all is not yet lost. Our children will pass along this very thing and so on and so forth this simple basic quality will continue long after this life. Sad is the day the children of this country lose sight of all who gave their lives for what they so eagerly take for granted. Sad is the day that has long since past. Fear for all those in a foreign land who hate America meanwhile they couldn't shake a stick at the sheer distain our own youth has for the single greatest place on earth to be born to, America. Running around destroying their own neighbors property with no more care or concern for all they have done and continue to do in the name of whatever crisis they started to learn in kindergarten. Raised an army of our own to stand against father, mother sister and brother. Blind are the sheep who follow the fool to the edge of the land above the pit of fire. Pregnancy is some parasite in their eyes. My argument is quite simple, those with conscience will always follow what lives inside of them. Those without never had it to begin with. It's the blow-back action too. Two of my most accurate guns are blow-back with fixed barrels. One is my .380 Jimenez T-380 and the other is my Hi-point Model C in 9mm. It's the predecessor to the Model C9. ^_^

    Been thinking about getting one of these. I've got the C9 it's been reliable and shoots good. I think all the bad stories come from people that's never shot one. Good video.

    Mixup you make some of the best shooting videos, I'd rather watch your channel over cable and Netflix.
