1. The Ching ring is awesome 2. I was surprised by how suttle the cymbal bacon was, I never got one because I thought it would be overpowering 3. Where is the big fat snare drum? That thing is (admittedly way overpriced) but amazing and I think it is $20(?) 4. The Vic Firth marching stick bag (i think it is called) is super awesome, it straps right onto your floor tom #staytrue my dudes
I was definitely surprised by the cymbal bacon as well! Super awesome. I wanted to include BFSD on this list, but it didn’t come in the mail in time unfortunately. But those are sick for sure!
PS one can recreate the cymbal bacon for around $1.25-$1.50 at any hardware store by going in and purchasing a length of light bulb pull chain. You basically make a loop of it and hang it over your cymbal post/wingnut/speedfelts. you can use varying lengths as well as multiple chains to get anything from a barely noticeable sound to a super ridiculous sound, not to mention you could make one for every symbol you own(if you are so inclined) for the price it would take to purchase one cymbal bacon.
I started using those quick releases a few months ago and they are life savers. If you have 3 or 4 cymbals, it makes gigging so much easier, and the other bands and venue love it because you can get broken down in no time and get the kit off the stage with time to spare. It ends up helping your credibility as a serious musician.
Glad to see the Black Dot heads making a comeback! That's all I ever used back in the 70's, lol. The real question I have is: why do you have one of those nasty, half melted, residue depositing moon gels on your rack tom when you're pushing the cool green ones? FWIW, today is my birthday and I just crossed over to the 65+ bracket!
Yeah I tried them out on tour and they haven't left yet! Haha fair question! It's been on there since tour and I haven't even thought to take it off. I'll probably switch over once I change my heads.
Hey Gabe, Just real quick, I’m gonna open up about your channel. You have helped me be such a more confident drummer since I’ve come across your videos. You are what youtube needs and I’m sure you have changed other peoples lives throughout the drum community. Keep on being the same and I wish you a wonderful drumming year as well. BTW! #staytrue
I had a huge road trip over Christmas break and used all that time to listen to every single one of your podcasts! I loved them! Happy New Year to you! Those SlapKlatz look awesome!
Best products I’ve used is the Ching ring, promark raddler, Evans g2, Remo coated ambassador, promark foward 5a , fire grain sticks, Evans calf tone heads, promark broomsticks, Steve gadd wire brushes, Vic Firth practice tips, Vic Firth marching stick bag, and last but not least, Vic Firth Ralph Hardimon sticks!!!
It’s not cheap but I love the zildjian spiral stacker because it adds a dry sound to a lot of cymbals while also being bright and rich. Definitely adds sizzle to a cymbal as well
I really like the sound of that mini closed hi hat you have next to your snare. What cymbals are you using on those? On topic with the video, I love cymbal toppers. Makes breakdown and setup that much easier at gigs.
Great video! I would have to say my favorite new product that I discovered this year was the cympad moderators, those things saved my ass on many small venue gigs this year.
I've been a synth player for over 30 years, and been getting into drums the past 5. I have a basic 5 piece kit and I'm learning how expensive drums can be :-). When you buy a high end synth like a Korg or Yamaha flagship model, you can spend $3k-$4k, but once you've bought it, unless it breaks down, the cost is over. A $5k drum kit can always have more money thrown at it with different hardware and cymbals, different pedals and so on. Not to mention, cymbals and even more so drum heads, can break and need replacing. I haven't had to replace too many broken keys, well, not from playing them at least so it's nice to see some accessories that won't break the bank of a beginner. The Drum Tortilla sounds really interesting. I've seen videos about putting towels over drums to get the "Beatles" sound but they slip and slide without some way of securing them. I'm gonna get me some of those tortillas. I really like the tone they add to the snare.
I really like the knee mount for my pad because i don't have any support... you did me discover that new product ! thanks for the video. see you soon !
One of the green Slap Klatz dots left a big green spot on my schools white snare head. It needs to be changed anyway, so not a huge deal, but if it matters to you, there you go.
Great question! Long story short, their sound guy knew me because we play at the same church. When they needed a new drummer, he recommended me and I auditioned! It was quite a whirlwind that’s for sure.
For real though. If you don't go to church, start going to a church just to play drums, it's good experience free networking and you will probably never get to play on a better sound system. Plus the people there think your amazing so it's a huge confidence boost
@@loganpierce3163 dude your entire comment is spot on. I've played some nice gigs, but church's always have the best sound system. Everyone loves the musicians and you can even make some decent money.
Slowly upgrading my kit which I've bought used at the end of 2016. Recently changed my snare batter to Remo PS3. Bought the wrong one with the white dot. Decided to try it out and it turned out pretty interesting at low tuning. Thx for the intro re the p77s will check it out!
Yeah the "Professional" one is also very cool, since it also has a striking ring on the top....but as this was a $20 and under video, can't go wrong with the Headliner version. It'd be cool to see you do a review video on those - I have plans on making a review under a new channel I am putting together. Keep up the great work with all your videos and with I Prevail!
I watched a couple of your videos but I never knew that you are iPrevail's drummer, I love you guys! :D I'm just not really a type of guy who searches what every bandmember looks like, I'm more the type that enjoys the music ^^
I have a few of those Tama quick set cymbal mates. They definitely save you some time from spinning wing nuts! I'm planning on checking out the Remo P 77 14" head the next time I have to change one of mine.
Here goes my top 5 list: 1. Evans Genera G2 coated heads They just made my life soo much easier. I've got quite cheap drums, and I've always been struggling with the tuning, but these heads just helped a lot. They make everything sound great and they're extremely easy to tune. The durability is just unreal too. I'm used to Remo heads on the snare drum, and I always loved them, but the coating just doesn't stick that well on those. and I've been bashing on my G2-s for quite a long amount of time, and the coating is still just perfect. 2. Cotton pads Not really drum accessories, but again, they made my life so much easier. they're just the best things in my opinion to control the overtones on your toms, and you don't have to put a lot of stuff on your batter heads in order to get a controlled sound. I'd recommend it to anyone especially on the floor tom. Also they can really help you out with the protection of your bassdrum heads if you don't want to invest some money in patches. 3. Contact paper Again, not really a drum accessory, but contact paper can make any drumset look great if you do it right. I've got a burl finish on my drumkit with this method and it's just rad. 4. Meinl 6" practice pads I've never really used practice pads for some reason, but I can't really get on my drumset that often, and I started bashing on my bed with my sticks to do a little practicing. Recently I've been working a lot on my technique, so I thought it would be a great investment to buy one of these, and it made practicing a lot more fun. And I also find great, that they're so small, because they kinda force you to play in a little area, which I think is a good thing. 5. LA Special 5A nylon tip sticks #staytrue guyz
Cracked up at Cymbal Bacon XD personally I’ve used Mardi Gras beads to add that little sizzle to my cymbals (only problem is when, not if, but WHEN you hit them they go flying). Love your videos!
Gimme those dampeners, Gabe! Great recommendations here, and, for once, reasonably priced, unlike most drum gear. Thanks for helping us save some money!
My top ten favorite drumming products are (in no order): Drumming headphones (I’m fairly new to drumming so I only recently heard about them and I think I’m starting to recover my hearing with them lol) Evans e rings Big phat snare drum Slapklatz Evans hydraulic level 360 Tom head Sticktwirl Vater percussion stick holder Portable manuscript book for writing grooves wherever I go Drumdial and Marty gra beads (I use them like cymbal bacon, it’s much cheaper) #staytrue This video has been really helpful as have your other videos!
Thanks. Excellent Info. Any thought on using the Knee Mount to hold actual gear while playing? Say a small tambourine or block? I guess the screw would have to be elongated.
That transition ride tho...👌 Also thanks for everything you’ve done not just in this year, but in all your time on this platform, I’ve learned a lot from you, so thank you very much 😁🙏🙏
Gabe, I really dig the hoops you use on your toms. I actually haven't seen it before. I'm assuming you did this because you do a lot of rim/clicky work? Where could I find wood hoops for 12" and 16" toms (and/or snare)??
The drum set actually came with the wood hoops. You can find them at a lot of music stores and or/online. But they don't work for all drum sets, you'll have to make sure they work with your tuning rods.
1. The Ching ring is awesome
2. I was surprised by how suttle the cymbal bacon was, I never got one because I thought it would be overpowering

Hi Tommy! You won the giveaway! Send me an email with your details at gabe@drumbeatsonline.com
Drum Beats Online did u get the email my dude
Drum Beats Online I dare you to sizzle the cymbal with the cymbal bacon on it

LOL I thought the tambourine went flying off @ 7:58
Josh Same lol
It flew off into an alternate dimension.

I totally agree Sam!

I love to watch you demonstrate each product because when you play you can really tell you are fully enjoying yourself! God Bless!
Thanks Kelly! It’s hard not to, drums are too fun!
Rdavidr
Except not as cool.
Or the badass beard
But its not just a cabasa ring
Only difference is he doesn’t have the beard and he doesn’t drill holes in everything lol
My favourite drum product is deffinetly the pearl mounting piece, you can attach anything to it, and it is really portable.

Wait till you hear about the drum egg drum bacon drum grits and drum orange juice
Hello!! Following you from Venezuela! Keep drumming bro, you are really good! God bless you!
That’s so amazing!! I appreciate the kind words!
Lots of drummers forget to or never put rests in there playing. Rests can make a huge difference! Great playing
It’s not cheap but I love the zildjian spiral stacker because it adds a dry sound to a lot of cymbals while also being bright and rich. Definitely adds sizzle to a cymbal as well
Those things look fun for sure!

I just bought an Evans HD dry because of you and it really has grown on me better than what I used to have so thanks :)
Those are killer heads! So glad you like it!
Great video! I would have to say my favorite new product that I discovered this year was the cympad moderators, those things saved my ass on many small venue gigs this year.
Yeah those are great!
I liked the Ching ring especially on the crash. It gave the cymbal a nice shimmer sound that I really liked
I feel the same way!
Vic firths extreme sticks legit make you a little better, the best sticks I’ve had for sure.
Haha dang! Yeah I dig them for sure!
I tried the Vic Firth practice tips because of your review and I absolutely love them
That’s awesome Rachel!
love the way you talk about all those drumming things, gabe! happy 2018!
Thanks Nick! I hope it’s a great year for you!
I haven't been able to play my drums much lately, but all these products sound really awesome! Gonna have to pick some up for my kit
That’s the worst, but it will feel good to get behind them again I’m sure! I’ve got all the links in the description!

Yeah, it's definitely not a cheap hobby overall! Thats awesome Dennis I hope they work out for you!
I really like the knee mount for my pad because i don't have any support... you did me discover that new product ! thanks for the video. see you soon !
Yeah it's pretty awesome! So glad I could introduce you to them!
Congrats on this past year man. Keep killing it
Thanks friend!

nothing better than seeing a Drum Beats Online video in my sub box
🙏🙏 that means the world!
One thing I like off rip about the tortilla is that you can still rim click where a towel covers everything
I think I need some of this stuff. Cool vid 👍
All the links are in the description! Thank you!
Such a great video, I hadn't heard of any of these before! All the best for 2018!
That’s awesome! I’m glad I could introduce you to some great stuff!

Very cool! You are welcome, I've got all the links in the description so check them out there!
Enjoyed the products - my fav new (to me) accessory under $20 is the Meinl Headliner Hi-Hat Tambourine.
I haven't checked that out yet! I'll have to do that soon!
Yeah the "Professional" one is also very cool, since it also has a striking ring on the top....but as this was a $20 and under video, can't go wrong with the Headliner version. Keep up the great work with all your videos and with I Prevail!
My favorite product of this year are The meinl pure alloy line dude!!
that cymbals souds really good
Oh man, I feel that!!
The Remo Quicklock Hi-Hat Clutch has done me wonders in 2017 haha no more falling hats!! Great vid man!
I’ve heard great things about that! Your package is in the mail by the way!!
Drum Beats Online ahhh sweet thanks a lot man!!!!!
I have the Gibraltar quick release clutch. Same thing as the remo one just different brand but it's really nice.
I know right? Won't go to a gig or rehearsal without it!
Jonathan Ceballos thanks, I was wondering if a brand other than Gibraltar made this
I want the slap clacks!
hey, can u share how to DIY a glass baffles for drums? u know, for the lower volume in some particular situations.
7:57 i thought the ching ring went flying when he hit the crash cymbal
Haha that would be amazing
Love the P77 so much. Favorite snare head!
I feel that!
Always great to finish the night with your videos!
Yes!!👌🏽
Dude I’m definitely looking into these products! So simple, but so needed!
Agreed!

I love this. I currently use moon gels or tape for dampening my heads when I need to. I am going to use Slap Klatz real soon. Thanks for videos!!
That’s awesome!! It’s my pleasure.
So excited to try these products especially the backbeat tambourine! Great video!!!!
I love that one! Thanks Isabella! I’ve got all the links in the description if you wanted to check it out!

Those little auxhats sound sick

I bought a pair of fiv firth x55a's, i personally use los cabos sticks but they're not to bad
Cracked up at Cymbal Bacon XD personally I’ve used Mardi Gras beads to add that little sizzle to my cymbals (only problem is when, not if, but WHEN you hit them they go flying). Love your videos!

Same!
Gimme those dampeners, Gabe! Great recommendations here, and, for once, reasonably priced, unlike most drum gear. Thanks for helping us save some money!
Absolutely Ray, glad you liked the video!
Hello Gabe the only things I've bought was jazz drum stix can't remember by who tho but it's start with a G
Donald Simpson Jr. You should figure out what brand it is and then try to find the stick on the website
Idk why but the ching ring sounds like something I'd want to jam to some led zeppelin with, very helpful video!
Heck yeah!
Awesome vid man. Can you make more like this because I’m loving all of these cool products.
Yeah I’d love to! I had a lot of fun making it!
Loved the video and your enthusiasm towards drums. I have always been curious how the ching ring sounds on crashes. Now I need to get one.

I haven’t watched your videos in a while and DAMN your vids have improved!! Keep up the Good work !!!
Haha well thanks! And welcome back!
What notes do you tune your snare drum to? It sounds really cool
Thanks. Excellent Info. Any thought on using the Knee Mount to hold actual gear while playing? Say a small tambourine or block? I guess the screw would have to be elongated.
Oh that's a cool idea! Unfortunately I don't think the knee mount would work for that.
How com you chose the wood hoops on your Toms instead of the normal metal hoops?
I bought the kit used, so that just how it came! But I love them!
This is honestly really good content good job man
So glad you liked it!
Pretty interesting, might grab the sticks and the rubber tips.
Links are in the description!

Thanks! Right now I have the remo controlled dot clear heads on.
Hey bro I like your tutorial very much, it is very much useful for me and many other too
I’m so glad!
What hats are those??? I’m obsessed.
Promark Progrips are great and solid for metal drumming
I’ll have to check those out!
Gabe,
I really dig the hoops you use on your toms.
One of my favorite videos!
That’s so awesome! Glad you dig it!
Nice video! I think the Big Fat Snare Drum is a great one too.
Totally!
Thanks for the video it was really helpful and now I can spend my pocket money on something
Great video! I am considering buying most of these products now!
Haha that’s awesome! I have all the links in the description.
Gabe how are you? I want to include a mini hi hat like the one you have. Can you please show me what stand are you using? Thank you so much.
I'm doing well thanks! It's the meinl x hat arm!
