D.O.R.F. Real-Time Strategic Conflict is an RTS game for PC, currently in development, taking inspiration from classic RTS games of the 90’s, while also expanding on the genre with new and innovative mechanics. The game will feature land, air and sea combat, and will have three unique factions to play as.

Been too long since I saw a good Command and Conquer-like or just any Real-Time Strategy that went all-in on big units, heavy vehicles, and super-weapons. Can't wait to see more of this.
This game is pretty much KKND. So if you didn't play that c&n like yet, I really recommend doing it.

Look into Beyond All Reason. It's free and is basically a modernized Total Annihilation
Command and Conquer or RA3 would be awesome to this day if they weren't abandoned a year after release.
EA does not give a crap about their projects. I wish I could play RA3 today.
Between DORF, BAR and SG I think we might actually live in a great time for RTS once again. 😀

This game looks insanely promising. One thing I dearly hope doesn't happen is they pull off an Act of Aggression and throw out all the logistics and interesting economy mechanics in favor of 'Esports' and 'Competitive micro' and effectively neuter the game.
Don't worry, we definitely *will not* be going the E-sports route.

The devs abandoned Act Of Aggression because they wanted to focus on esport stuff?! What?! I loved that game right up until they abandoned it and i never knew what happened

Finally, an RTS with big base building and actual super weapons and not a huge focus on e-sports or stupid levels of micro managing/small armies.
I'm already liking this over Stormgate by a country mile, and I say this as someone that adored SC for decades.
as much as i agree. This game needs an e-sport/competitive scene, or it just won't last. At least on the multiplayer side of it.
@@Fireblades212 Starcraft II devs had the data, and as big as SC II's e-sports scene was, it wasn't nearly as big as those playing it for PVE for years on end.
The e-sports for SC II is basically dead at this point, yet the PVE inevitably lives on via it's campaigns, it's co-op missions and arcade content.
AoE IV tried to focus on PVP first, look at where it's at compared to AoE II HD is.
Red Alert 3's e-sports died within 2-3yrs tops as well.
e-sports will just not bring back RTS the way some ppl think it will. it's had it's day, it's not going to explode the genre like Battle Royale did.
I'd rather have a really good banger of an RTS with good AI, good campaign and/or coop, than have resources poured into a time limited PVP scene, a scene I cannot compete in nor find fun at all, and one that simply won't last as long as the former.

@@dirge7459 what i meant was they need a multiplayer aspect of the game. The o ly way they can do that, that isn't like sc2 arcade, is by making the PvP portion of multiplayer actually balanced.

@@Fireblades212 RTS do much better when the primary focus of the game is on single player content first, followed by mod-ability and user generated content THEN on pvp. All the truly successful RTS have had that as the primary focus. The fixation on competitive balance and esport design is the reason the RTS genre has failed to produce any truly captivating games in the last decade.
Please, do not forget about voice lines and do not make it cheap, you all know about Kirov and stuff that does goosebumps. And some hard rock ost, can't wait for the game!
We actually have a lot planned regarding voice acting, however that's something that will be worked on very late in development.
I love seeing all of the DNA that goes into these passion projects. The Red Alert 2 style graphics and music, the Starcraft style portraits, all of those tanks that look like they were ripped out of a forgotten issue of Imperial Armour and what appears to be in base logistics in a game with an acronym for a name. This game looks like the 90's mashup RTS I dreamed of when I was about 13 and I hope it's every bit as insane as I dreamed it would be.
After some months an update would be cool. I am really hyped.
We do have a lot of new stuff to show off, but unfortunately the game is in a weird state at the moment due to a massive change to the rendering engine that adds dynamic lighting and other visual effects. This system only half-works right now; there is dynamic lighting, but no shadows, and light sources are buggy and aren't positioned correctly, so the game looks very strange. However once these issues are resolved, we do want to put another public trailer out.

Gotta say, I love the designs of the units have. They really give off a 'rule of cool' vibe which reminds me of those old C&C titles. Looking forward to see more of this game.

But those who wait for greatness are rewarded in kind.
This probably has to be my most anticipated game now. Everything about this game just screams fun.
Those moving portraits bring me back to my Starcraft 1 days. Can't wait for this to become my next RTS obsession!
I remember your early posts showing this game years back, good to see you've managed to get a spot in the PC gaming show.
It's a minor thing and probably unwanted, but I do love the fact that this trailer shows the lag right after the nuke shell hits. Because it is FUCKING SATISFYING seeing the game having a stroke and going all "what the fuck just happened oh shit render render render render render render".
I want my big guns doing extensive damage, and a little bit of interface screw adds up to it.
It's an unintentional performance issue, but then I think Tiberian Sun and RA2 had similar issues with their superweapons.
Seeing those unit portraits and infantry crawling around like in classic C&C gave me chills. This game will spearhead the new era of RTS glory. While all these other genres have gotten monopolized into submission by multibillion dollar scam outfits, RTS has been slowly rattling its bones and dusting itself off. Warno and Call to Arms have been bringing up the rear, cooking up some quality early access product. Meanwhile, Manor Lords, Fragile Existence, Rattenreich, Terminator Dark Fate, and other indie ventures are just around the corner. Even triple A powerhouses like Homeworld and Age of Empires are throwing their dogs in the fight. If you let your Steam queue run a little, you’ll find even more promising clandestine projects currently ripening.
But this… DORF is different. DORF is what RTS players _really_ want. It’s going to endure well beyond its first couple years of release. It’s on its way to legendary status. I know it when I see it.
The multiple turrets on some of the tanks really add a lot of character.
Man! I don’t know what got into or motivated some people in the live chat to start dissing this project calling it stuff like “mobile game” but I’ve been following this project for months now and I’m glad to see it come farther and farther into development!
I feel like dorf got the most positive reception. chat was so harsh on everything but dorf still got quite a few positive remarks
Chat felt like it was a 4chan op by xbox players(Because there were several people talking about how good xbox is) to just make it looks like all pc players are trashing everything on pc so they can point and say how shitty pc is now. Also all the clamoring for triple A, when access to indies has always been just as big of a selling point on pc gaming as having access to the higher tech for the triple A titles.
I think what happened was:
DORF sort of got caught in a cross-fire of negative feedback from the chat absolutely not having any of the hosts skits, they moment they started dragging the skits, any game that came after was going to be absolutely piled on by the chat because they perceive the show as FUBAR. Also didn’t help that some people were just there to throw tomatoes for the sake of throwing it!

I would love to see a video on the logistics, I know there was one of scrappers but when I saw trains and oil pipes I was hoping for a video a little more in-depth on logistics like maybe a 2-3 minute video would be awesome.
There will be a more in-depth video eventually, though there are still a few things missing regarding the system itself currently.
I want this so bad.

I was mainly watching the PC gaming show for Stormgate, but this looks sick as well. I love the look of pre rendered visuals, and they got the sprites to still animate so smoothly. I'll definitely watch this one.

This trailer literally saved the trainwreck that was the PC gaming show this year, at least for me. I was expecting them to show the remake of Age of Mythology or more news about Tempest Rising or Sanctuary, but nope... At least I got DORF, and it was glorious 👍
It was truly horrible and the best games DORF, Fortune's Run and Age of Sigmar were all the shortest lol. The trash MMO's and other trash was the longest damn thing ever, there were a couple more cool ones but I'd say 3 games I loved and if I'm being very generous 6 games I'm interested in getting
@@Miki-hk6vy Yeah, a total trainwreck. Stormgate was the biggest letdown of the day for me, the gameplay reveal trailer was the most boring and uninspiring shit I've seen in years. It looks so cartoony, literally mobile game tier, and what's with that extremely slow moba-like pace? I actually like SC2 so I was hoping for a style aligned with it
@@Rendaus oh don't get me started on that disappointment, I'm just shocked they even had the confidence to show that mobile game with no style or passion graphics and hype them up after one of the best visual RTS games right before it. Also found it hilarious how they were so confident in explaining what a scout troop and transport vehicle do, like they just invented a new genre and not implemented the most basic fundamental troops any RTS has
Stormgate def looks like just a starcraft Clone. U dont blame graphics for now cuz every pre alpha game looks Barebone and like a mobile game.
Iam more excited for age of sigmar rts which will def play like dow2/coh
@@TheOperationHastings I mean yeah you can't blame it but you already saw the art style they are going for, an incredibly bland one. The only way we'll see a big improvement is if they went out of their way and completely redid the art direction, if they don't it'll just be bland looking even after release when they've cleaned up graphics for release
Went back to look at the trailers you made for the different types of units and pathfinding has me eager for updates! This game looks and feels like other classical RTS, but its designs are distinctly its own. You've done an amazing job so far and hope to see more soon!

I like to see infantry having more of a use than just being cannon fodder.
Infantry can be used to capture base buildings and can garrison civilian structures.
in c&c i used it for early game exploration and skirmish, for garrisoning structures and for cheap mobile anti-air defense
Infantry has always been good just counterable. I've won games of C&C just by spamming flak troopers and conscripts before

Godddd I was waiting for so lomg for another GOOD RTS and then i saw the trailer for this today.. I never even knew this existed until now, and as a life long RTS fan, sign me up! I can’t WAIT to play this!
Best looking RTS in a while. I was really interested in Stormgate also and will play it, but the art style is soft and hard on the eyes. Looking forward to this and I've whislisted it on steam.

I'm a huge fan of RTS games and this one seems to have everything I want: nice 90's looking graphics, fast-paced action, and a cool sci-fi setting.
I'm so hyped for the full release of D.O.R.F. Real-Time Strategic Conflict! The gameplay looks smooth and responsive, and the sound / music is awesome! I just added on my Steam Wishlist.

I'v watched this for entire day and then again in the morning.
This game looks incredible! The art style and genral aesthetic really scratches a specific itch of mine. Very reminiscent of very old school RTS games like KKnD, which i absolutely love. I am really looking forward to it! Please just make sure it has as good as game feel as it does art style. A lot of modern RTS games (Iron Harvest) are clunky and difficult to play due to poor pathfinding and unit sluggishness.
Cannot wait for this!! Looks like RA2 which i miss so much. I miss just normal base building and single troop selection ability instead of all troops being created as squads or something like that.
