    It's good to stay hydrated.
    Great overview of some of the problems you've been having with this thing. It's nice to see more options for handheld gaming PC's, but I still couldn't imagine getting anything other than the steam deck. $400 US for the 64gb model is still a crazy deal. I absolutely love mine. SteamOS, the trackpads, and good customer support would make me pick the deck over other options even if I had the money to spend.
    About two and a half weeks ago I dropped my deck and broke my right bumper. After talking to Valve support, they managed to put in a repair request and fix it FOR FREE. I even told them I dropped it. I've never experienced customer support like that before.

    • @ofensatul
      @ofensatul ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Scott T well that is one option but given how the best version comes with Anti-glare etched glass screen and 1TB ssd is a must nowdays , getting the cheapest version lets you in the dust and really not worth the investment at all :)

    • @ConsortiumOfTheBrain
      @ConsortiumOfTheBrain ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@ofensatul I disagree, I got the base model and bought a 1TB micro SD card and couldn’t be happier. You can also get an anti glare Matte screen protector and get the same results with far less money, you simply can’t beat 400 bucks entry price :)

    • @scotttatertot69
      @scotttatertot69 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ofensatul I see that sentiment everywhere (even from Linus Tech Tips) and I don't understand it. I got the 64gb version and I couldn't be happier. If you want more storage getting a larger SD card or upgrading the SSD yourself (which I did, it's super easy) is totally an option. As for the etched glass screen, I have seen both and I honestly prefer the regular non-etched screen. It looks a bit sharper and less washed out, of course at the expense of more reflectivity (which has not been a concern for me).

    I have ordered the ayaneo and want to understand this problem of thermal throttling. So does it happen due to smart tdp being on, or is it due to the device not able to launch heavy games for hours without the tdp dropping?

  • @Dumpster-J-
    @Dumpster-J- ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I've had mine for over a month and it has been fantastic. I wonder if the throttling at 28w on battery is because the battery can't handle the drain after a certain level. I had that happen to me one time and it was at 28w on battery which I rarely do. My goal for battery is 15w-20w and it seems to run almost all the way dead before it starts to slow down. Like down to 10% or so. Otherwise mines been pretty much perfect. I love my AYANEO 2. I had the Pro 2021 and the NEXT as well and they were both great.

      @TechJamo  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ooof! That's a tricky one! Ummmm. If they were the same price, I think I'd choose the Ayaneo 2 just because of the extra power and the ability to easily play games on other platforms apart from steam.
      But that buttery smooth Custom steam OS makes everything feel way more premium than the Ayaneo 2. Plus that valve customer service.

  • @christiancarreon2078
    @christiancarreon2078 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Sir I have the ayaneo geek. I've experienced the error you are referring to, the problem lies with the windows 11 update downgrading your amd drivers. To solve it you must simply reinstall amd drivers thru the adrenalin amd software and disable windows update. Also the chip that ayaneo 2 and geek uses is amd ryzen 7 6800u not 6800m. I own both ayaneo and steamdeck so I have no bias regarding ayaneo

    I own this device for over a month now. I use it every day on my commute. I travel to and from 1 hour each way and I play on it. On 22W it gives me a solid 1 hour and 15 minute battery. I have finished 3 steam games on my commute and I love it. I have Steam Deck too and I use both for my Steam Library. Some games are on my Steam Deck and some are on my Aya Neo 2 and I can game on Gamepass as well. I highly encourage people who can afford to get this device. Its quite nifty. I have an Aya Neo Pro (4800U 16GB RAM 1TB version) and am now considering getting the aya neo 2 (6800U 32GB RAM 2TB version), wanted to ask if your device has any heating issues, it has already been confirmed Aya Neo 2s will come, with AMD 7800U instead of AMD 6800U, should I wait for the 2s version ? How about you, do you get the 2s version ? By the way, I have a GPD Win Max 2 (6800 U 32GB 2TB version) maybe the device is even better or similar like the Aya neo 2 ? 🤔

      Yass heating issues only happen to me where I'm playing without charging and I set the tdp to >26w.
      If you want to play at more than 26w, it is advised that you charge the Ayaneo2 battery to 100% and play whilst plugged in so that the battery doesn't get warm.

      @@halow4000 the hardware maybe better, but it's at least double the price of the base Deck. Plus, you don't really get the kind of customer support at the level that Valve gives, so if something happens to your premium device down the road, good luck getting it fixed. I've heard horror stories where people have sent their device in only to not get it back. Some people couldn't even reach customer support and ended up with $1300 paperweights. That's one of the main reasons why I went with the Deck - customer and community support as well as price. Not only that, but Valve made their hardware user friendly so that the internal components are relatively easy to change out (such as the battery). Not even the Switch does that. And that's pretty impressive for a handheld.
