    There were 110,669 people at that game. The stadium's official capacity is "only" 106,572 but the student section (about 1/4 of the stadium) doesn't have assigned seating so the extra are just more students stuffed in there. Still, more than twice the size if Eden Park.
    If you do go to the US to see a college football game, the White Out may be an overload. Before the game the parking lot has over 200,000 people who are eating, drinking, and generally having a party for hours. Don't worry about having your own food or drink because most people will just invite you to partake of theirs.

    It's also a good example of how big College Football is. Penn State is one of the larger more prominent teams.
    This level of crowd noise is normal for schools of that size & prominence in important games. It also looks like the first play from scrimmage by Michigan resulted in a false start. A 5 yard penalty against the offense for premature movement. Crowds also usually are louder when the visiting team's offense is on the field & quieter when the home team's offense is on the field. It makes pre-snap communication harder for the visitors.

    I ushered at Beaver Stadium and saw many Whiteouts. The atmosphere is AMAZING!! The noise is extremely loud. You literally have to yell to talk to the person right next to you. The biggest Whiteout had over 111,000 fans.
    Kirk Herbstreit, a football commentator, said The Penn State Whiteout is the greatest atmosphere in all of college football.
    Beaver Stadium is the second largest stadium in The United States and the fourth largest in the world.
    On a home game day, State College, PA, becomes the third most populated area in the state of Pennsylvania. Only Philadelphia and Pittsburgh have more people.

    The White Out games are a special occasion for sure. They get planned depending on the season progression. Whatever game in the schedule looks to be the most impactful for their season usually gets the nod as the White Out or a Stripe out. When the Quebec Nordiques were in the NHL before moving to Denver and becoming the Colorado Avalanche, Le Colisee would have whiteout nights where all the fans would be in white. This would be done especially when they played the Montreal Canadiens, their archrivals from the same province.

    Penn state has the best college atmosphere you can experience. In the stands are 100,000 fans screaming. You can feel vibration through your body and you will get goose numbs all over your body. The white out game is only once a year against the big and best Opponent that come to penn state. If you watch a college football game this one the white out will change your life forever. Lol highly recommend going.

    One thing most everyone else in the world does not fully comprehend is that this is COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY SPORTS this is not a PRO TEAM this is not the NFL. There are SO MANY universities and Colleges across the USA BIG & SMALL with sports teams ( FOOTBALL BASKETBALL BASEBALL SOCCER SWIMMING GYMNASTICS WRESTLING LECROSS FIELD HOCKEY and so much more ) Out of all the Universities in the USA there are MANY big ones like this that have 10-20-50-60 THOUSAND Students that attend university at their respective schools and stadiums like this can hold 80-100 THOUSAND people and there are many of these across the USA.
    With Everything AMERICA HAS Keep this in Mind -- AMERICA HOLDS **LESS** than 1/23 of the worlds population.

    It’s like that for the White Out game. Once a year Penn State has an entire stadium white out. It’s a blast, and yes it’s extremely loud. It’s an all day affair, tailgates with lots and lots of food.
    It’s very much a bucket list game.

  • @davidbird2486
    @davidbird2486 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you come to the US definitely do it in the fall and go to as many college football games as you can. Go to the tail gate parties before the games most people are happy to share their food and drinks with you especially if they know you are from out of the country because they are very proud of their team. Then go into the game and enjoy the excitement that permeates the stadium.

    Here is a webpage that lists the top 20 largest college football stadiums. I am a Nebraska Huskers fan and we are listed as No. 12. We are working on getting back to the team we were in the 90s and b4. and I think we have the right coach for that now.
    But Nebraska owns the Record for most home game sellouts at 375 right now. This record goes all the way back to 3 Nov. 1962 with a home game against Missouri. Nebraska is one of the more storied college football programs in America.

    • @sheneedsme
      @sheneedsme 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I remember when Nebraska was great every year. It’s seems like Wisconsin has replaced them as the team with the big beefy lineman and running backs. Offenses are so explosive and fast paced now I think Nebraska will have a hard time becoming a powerhouse again. Too bad because they have a nice fan base.

    As an Ohio State fan I have a dislike for state Penn. That said, likely the best home field advantage in sport. The stories I have heard from ohio state players and coaches about how loud it gets there. The loudest recorded db there is 122db. For a reference, sound that causes physical pain starts at 125db. I find it hard to believe they haven't surpassed 125... I've heard stories about guys thinking a fan was behind them which was blowing against them moving their clothing. Only to find out there was no fan, it was just the noise of the crowd doing it. Stories about guys helmets vibrating while wearing them.
    Big props to their fans for creating that atmosphere, white outs are impressive 👍
