@@drewzilla45 thanks man, it was a very long hike but we enjoyed ourselves after the fact. We didn’t go up to the true summit, We were content with reaching the Crater.
June 20 th, 1977..... My partner Steve was waiting @ 12,000 ft ( altitude sick) : we had traversed left @ Muir & climbed a steep chute, avoiding the long trek right and around on the std route. I was leading Jim ( fr/Seattle) whose partner had come down snow blind on the way up to Muir. We took a break @ the S rim & he looked @ me & said : " This is good enough for me"! Finally talked him into going the mile across BC I needed SOMEONE on the other end of the rope! Had traveled fr/East Coast 2 do this! Made it back to Steve: felt better @ 11,000 so , loaded up our gear @ Muir and RAN back down to the parking lot! We were eating BIG steaks @10 pm , finished driving to Wenatchee and CRASHED at his parents! Btw totally true...have pics taken w/ my Olympus OM2
