Although it's kind of sad to see that it doesn't gain power, I'm even more happy to see that it doesn't lose power either from the tune
Yeah, that was my concern. Just got a new cam w tune and just want a lil more sound w my extra power but was worried about it effectively w current tune.
@jamessalas9220 depends on how much backpressure you had to begin with. I gain 80hp due to backpressure from my nitrous running... at low rpm when open I lose power- so it opens at a certain rpm and I still keep my low end torque.

Love the sound from the electric cut outs. They are very cool.
Cut outs really only change power in cars that dont have a cat and resonator.
We have seen it on the dyno a bit. Vehicles that have cats and resonators the power either falls off or makes no change.
In street cars where customers have a resonator and muffler to keep the noise down some with the cut out before the resonator they make a decent amount of difference in power with them closed/open.
I worked at two big performance shops back in the Mustang heydays (1990's) and shop life cracks me up. The customers' are all pumped that they're car is going to be a 'monster' on the street, because they're dumping thousands and getting all these top-of-line heads, cam, etc., and we're like, 'Yeah, I gotta put all this crap on this car. How long until lunch?'

That blue ZL1 looks like a monster. Can't wait to hear it on the dyno. That red C6 Z06 was so clean and that dyno number was pretty healthy.
Yea 475 is quite high for stock.. Car would be at 550whp with just a few bolt ons
There’s a 3mph difference on the last run and the higher speed has a higher HP/TQ number. If anything I’d think it’s negligible gains, but just for sound

What if cutouts are installed upstream of the catalytic convertor? Are the Cats 🐈 the choke points of the exhaust system? Large bore eg. 3 inch pipes are almost the same as not having a muffler.
Yeah it all depends on how restrictive the exhaust is, i remember on my 95 lt1 f body it was a pretty good difference. No dyno numbers but track times closed ran 14.2 and open ran 13.9 and was placed before going over the axel. And car had a flowmaster not a stock muffler
The Flowmaster was your issue. They are junk
@@RaceProvenMotorsports i went from 314 whp to 328 whp on my stock 2002 ls1 camaro auto with 120k miles. I think it’s in my TH-cam. Just by opening up the cutout just beside the flow master muffler(only “mod”).
Was it completely stick exhaust with cut outs or already had an exhaust with cut outs? The difference looks like the exhaust flowed as good as it was going too.
Pretty much the back pressure was before the cutouts

When you put the "Y" shape cutout on and open the valve, won’t some exhaust still flow through the original exhaust to the muffler? Or does the cutout somehow get all the exhaust to go through it’s valve end?
Basically it will go through both but also the open one is the path of less resistance so it will flow much easier

don't you think cuts out would benefit more with a turbo car? Im about to go twin turbo and deciding id I should get the cut outs? Im thinking yes...… But I think going to a larger header and running a full 3" exhaust would benefit better than the cutouts. I think opening up the headers will benefit more.
Like other people have said, it really depends on how restrictive the current exhaust is on your vehicle. If you have a complete aftermarket exhaust that flows well, the cutouts won't make a difference. However, if you have a severely undersized exhaust from the factory, then you could potentially see a gain with the cutouts open. The thing is though, cutouts are more for sound, not really performance. Just my 2 cents 👍
My 99 TransAm has an off road Y pipe with no convertors going into into an electronic cut and a stock muffler. With the cut out open at idle you can still feel exhaust coming out of the stock muffler however, with this set up you can definitely tell there is more power when the cut out is open. If you had a high flow muffler and/or them DUMB😳SS convertors on your car they are not going to work as well..My car is also tuned and the engine only has 34,000 miles...brand new LS1 from GM I bought back in the day....The dealer wanted $6000 back then for a new LS long block but on line from Pace Performance I got one for $2800 bucks..

I love the C7 but the ZL1 is pretty damn sweet. The only thing i hate about the ZL1 is you can't get full leather like the 2SS camaro. I hate alcantera.

A/F was 18:1 with cutouts open, 15:1 when closed. Pretty sure you'd pick up power just correcting for that, no?
jason levitt u can’t be serious. 1 you’re not reading the graph correctly (that’s max AFR) when the car lets off. 2. Think about your comment for a second. You think opening a cut out is going to change the tune? A more logical thing would be the fact that the wideband (in the exhaust tip) isn’t getting all of the exhaust .... BECAUSE ITS GOING THROUGH THE CUTOUT.

jason levitt sparky lol okay dipshit please refer to point. #1 you still are not reading the graph correctly air fuel never hit 15-16 during a pull. Learn to read graph values then get back to me.
Jason, Jeremy is Right. Tune won't change based on cutouts opening because of the wideband reading location. And On the Graph you are looking at the Max value - the squigly line at the end when the person lets off of the gas. You have to look at the line across the graph.

They put an engine on an engine Dyno run it with open headers . 789hp
Added exhaust 723hp
Added cut-outs (closed) 721hp
Cut-outs (open) 781hp
But their cut outs were right after headers.
Y'all showed a picture of cut out right by the mufflers. I don't know if that was the setup or not.
