Lot of factors involved. Usually a career change means starting over at a low level. Which is fine and expected. But for those who have responsibilities like family and kids, may not be in a position to take the pay cut. You as an entrepreneur cant compare yourself to that. You said you take up whatever investment opportunities you see as worthwhile. But likely you have a base to fall back on should a specific invesement not pan out. You cant compare your risk, to that of a man with one job, one income, starting over at perhaps half the pay, but still having the family obligations that his current career covered. Of course there are situations where someone is in a career they dont like that also happens to no longer pay the bills anymore, due to those skills being less in demand. Then that man needs to figure out his next step and pivot to something else. There's no right answer. its all case by case of whats involved
