      Hi 3dEx!, I am a 3d student, I wanted to ask you if you could make a video where you explain how to make a good bake. when i try to bake with assets united like yours i always have projection problems don't you make the exploded version of the model? in any case I would like to have your video where you explain how to bake your assets well :)

      I bake by mesh name( low poly has _low and high poly _high at end of the name). Baking like this is like exploding the mesh, but Painter does it for you.

    Great video! Fyi you can batch add a suffix in Maya without a plugin by selecting the objects, Modify > Search and Replace names, Search For: "$" Replace With "_high". $ is the regular expression character for "end of the text".

    Helloo, loved the model! This may be a stupid question but, when I try to create a plate like that, exporting from Maya with Sub D mode on, in Zbrush, nearing the center of the circular shape, the geo is always very funky but yours doesn't seem to have that problem. I have tried smoothing and dynamesh but I can't ever fully make it smooth like yours appears to be. So my question would be, how do you tackle circular objects like plates when it comes to smoothing and dynameshing?

    • @3dextrude
      @3dextrude  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      One way would be to add more edge loops in the middle and have them very close to the center so you don't get the 'star like' artifact there. You can also smooth the area in Zbrush as well which what I did in this video.

    Hi , 3dex.

    • @3dextrude
      @3dextrude  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the person as some people are faster than others, but for something like this I would advice less than 5 hours of work if possible.

  • @piplowp

    hello! i just have a question for the meat uvs since im a bit confused. so for the final grouping of the uvs to be used in substance painter, the only one included in the group is from the meat slice that was set aside? and all the baking and texturing would transfer to the other meat slices?

    • @3dextrude
      @3dextrude  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Correct, this is because the other meshes are sharing the same uvs so the same texture position.

    • @3dextrude

      Hi, that is correct; those other layers are materials which already come with Painter so that's not part of the tutorial. The materials are under the smart materials tab.

  • @fredddy_1466

    Hi! i have a stupid question, the low poly that you use for the final renderer is the starting mesh that you have later smoothed and imported in zBrush?

    • @3dextrude
      @3dextrude  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's the initial mesh done in Maya. The zbrush mesh was used to bake as high poly details.

    I like the overall picture. The only thing I'd change is the lighter part between the reddish meat. For me it usually indicates fat, so in that sense you have a very fat meat. I think it would look better if the lighter section would be thinner. Even if it's not fat but the stuff between muscle clusters, I think it's a bit thick. This was mine that I made a year ago just to show what I mean: i.imgur.com/0XqlMf6.png
    Don't mind the shape of the big chunk, it almost feels like a tail section. You could have make the meat section a bit bigger, although I understand that stylized view makes sections larger, but my fat hungry self says there's too little meat on that bone :D
