I was told they added this additional price for "market adjustment" and that it's a honda, so well we said we can always find a different dealer or go to a different make of car and then as we were getting ready to leave suddenly the extra cost went away.

$34k is absolutely absurd. I remember when civics were 20k cars easily or even less. And that was like what 3-4 years ago not even that long ago. $34k was top of the line accord money not long ago
Own a 2017 Honda Civic Touring, 1.5L Turbo 170HP. Bought it New, December 2016. Runs great. Driven 222,000 Miles. Change oil at dealership every 10,000 miles. I will start changing the oil every 5,000 miles.

One thing my 85 Honda accord (yes 1985) manual shift had that I owned in 2014 was the car showing on instrument panel that not only showed which doors were open but it also showed which brake/headlight and turn signal bulbs were blown out! I LOVED that FEATURE and haven’t seen it in any other newer models That 85 accord power windows and antenna and Cable clutch blue with blue/grey inside had not a spec of rust and lived here in CT. That fuel injected carbureted 2.0 engine lasted past 430K miles when I sold it cuz the timing belt snapped and I assumed it was a interference engine and was damaged. (Based that on past car Hyundai Elantra that happened) to find out couple months later all I would’ve had to do was put another belt $22 and readjust timing and it would’ve been fine! Kick myself in the A$$ stilll about it..😢
So hey Scotty, did Honda fix the valves that used to need adjustment relatively early in the live of the engine? I haven't been following you for a while because I never searched for you on my new phone! I'm back and highly entertained again!

Honda/acura have gone downhill. I've been an acura user since 1999 and seen their down fall. I need a new car badly but they have turned me all the way off. Right now I have a 2011 acura MDX with 290,000 miles on it. Still in good condition but it burns oil and seems like the tans is slipping.
@@yvetteschoon8405 While It's true well maintained Hondas can make it to very high mileage, 300k is something most vehicles will never achieve. Welcome to the sub 1% club. Some clutch packs and valve seals are the least you could do for such a reliable vehicle.
'07 303,000 mi civic hybrid and '08 305,000 mi civic hybrid when we sold them. Neither was leaking nor burning oil. But, oil got changed every time the dash said to. What more can be said, they were Hondas.
Scotty, I watch all of your videos. I’ve learned a lot from you and agree with much of what you say. But….. please stop dissing sun roofs. I don’t understand your distaste for them. I mean come on. What’s better than a beautiful summer day, favorite song on the radio, all of the windows down, AND the sun roof open. It’s borderline the same as having a convertible. I don’t understand what there isn’t to like about them. I’m starting to think someone named Scotty wishes that he had one!
Some prices actually have come down on cars. I guess maybe depending on the state. Couple years ago prices were even higher, I’ve seen 2022 honda civics sport with 18k miles for $28k. Now truck prices that’s something different it’s ridiculous anywhere in the country I believe 100k miles and they’ll still be 30 grand
Got my civic for 20k before the pandemic. I was looking at the prius but its like 30-40k. Id rather buy a motorcycle with these car prices. People paying 1k a month is crazy.
I traded in my 21 civic for a Honda odyssey (for my wife), and I kept her 22 pilot. Anyways the civic msr was 22 when I leased it and they gave me 23 for it. It just amazes me dealers are selling civic with a mark up of 10 thousand dollars.
I got my 2022 Rex for $1500 less than MSRP, and they threw in tire/rim insurance, 5 year maintenance package, and aftermarket tint job, I lucked out big time.
Manufacturers can't directly control dealer pricing, as you know. But my dealer--West Herr Honda near Buffalo--NEVER does markups on any car, at any of their many dealerships/brands. Guess who gets more return business from customers who aren't ticked off by a ripoff. It's good business! My sales rep says one way Honda deals with ripoff dealers is in allocations. If a dealer is doing lots of markups, they get fewer cars than they otherwise would have in this already supply-stricken time. As for your (and others) views on "stick up screens," they are at eye level and less distracting than having to look down at a lower touch screen. I can make the changes on the screen in my past Accord and my current new CRV Sport Touring hybrid without lowering my eyes.
Pretty cheap!? 🤣 I have an excellent driving record and am 56, but I live in NY, it costs me almost $1,700 a year for full coverage and I have every discount available! I believe liability alone is like $1k!
I hate those extra screens. If I want a gps or an infotainment center or even a back up camera. I can get that functionality with a phone or tablet that will be cheaper, more up to date, and easier to update/upgrade.
I hope the daughter appreciates the car at least. Maybe the dad has the money to throw around but that’s a lot to pay for a car, especially if it’s just going to be for a teenager.
Scotty, in Australia Honda has fixed pricing. What it's advertised for by Honda Australia is it. Only one model Civic now (available in four colours only) at ~$47K. No manual (okay there is the Type R for $72K drive away, which is the only manual transmission Honda on the Australian market). They believe that people will pay Accord prices because these Civics all come out of Japan. Great car, but.
WoW, I just got for my son a 2023 Accord Hybrid Sport and I paid 34k. I have a TLX Type S and the technology on the Accord makes my Type S look like an old car.
I have a 20 year old Honda HRX mower. Mine started doing this too and I put a new carburetor on it and it is as good as new. Use non ethanol fuel and see if it helps.
I gotta say I respect Roger Penske, he never did dealer mark ups at his Honda dealership or his Chevrolet dealer ship during the entire pandemic and even now.
Damn, my 2020 Civic SI sedan was only 26k brand new with 5 miles in Sept 2020. No way I'd pay that much for a lesser model. Did the guy have crap credit on top of the up-charge?

Honda/acura have gone downhill. I've been an acura user since 1999 and seen their down fall. I need a new car badly but they have turned me all the way off. Right now I have a 2011 acura MDX with 290,000 miles on it. Still in good condition but it burns oil and seems like the tans is slipping.
@@yvetteschoon8405 While It's true well maintained Hondas can make it to very high mileage, 300k is something most vehicles will never achieve. Welcome to the sub 1% club. Some clutch packs and valve seals are the least you could do for such a reliable vehicle.
18:02 She is really happy to be with Scotty 😂
They bolt the beauty covers down like Fort Knox 😂😂. So true… I love you Scotty
Ya don't play an Eagles song on that stereo, they'll gitcha!
got mine when they first dropped mine is the auto with with cvt hate that trans but the cars a piece of art just stock and some tints
I follow your advice, i'm waiting for almost 2 years and i'm pilling a lot of cash !
It looks like somebody sprayed a clearcoat over the primer
Unfortunately we don't get the 2.0 litre manual in the new model Civic in the UK. Only a hybrid with auto is available here. 🤨
Same here, what year was yours?
I traded in my 21 civic for a Honda odyssey (for my wife), and I kept her 22 pilot. Anyways the civic msr was 22 when I leased it and they gave me 23 for it. It just amazes me dealers are selling civic with a mark up of 10 thousand dollars.
34k takes all the econo out of econobox. I'm happy with the manual 10k nissan econobox. but even they are 15k now. 💲
I got my 2022 Rex for $1500 less than MSRP, and they threw in tire/rim insurance, 5 year maintenance package, and aftermarket tint job, I lucked out big time.
My 2008 Accord burns some oil, but I've only ever had to replace the V-tech solenoid. She has 194k miles on her worry free.
if dealer says "11k over MSRP" Ill get up and leave.
I remember when hill assist was side stepping the clutch and looking through the tire smoke.
I have an excellent driving record and am 56, but I live in NY, it costs me almost $1,700 a year for full coverage and I have every discount available! I believe liability alone is like $1k!
I feel your pain. Massachusetts insurance payments are higher than the car payment.
Huh? I'm 26 and I'm paying $1400 for full
Morning sir I am from Barbados have you ever had any problems trouble shooting the Grand Vitara instrument cluster working and stopping.
It's a sport! It's a 1.5L turbo the only civic that has a 2.0L turbo is the type R and for what he paid, a type R MSRP for a sport lmfao
17:54 what's gru doing in the back seat?
I hate those extra screens. If I want a gps or an infotainment center or even a back up camera. I can get that functionality with a phone or tablet that will be cheaper, more up to date, and easier to update/upgrade.
I got my 2023 crv touring with 3k off msrp. The problem is people paying the high prices.
When do you think the prices of cars will drop? I'm currently saving up for a car and I agree the prices are ridiculous
In the car brand everything is RIP except Japanese car little better than other brand
You're adding 5k?
Me: 🏃
Most all the new Hondas are Turbos and/or CVT, I will not buy another, instead looking to Camry, still available with a 2.4 I-4, and real Trans.
Awesome video!
2023 Civic type R is going for $90k used now here in canada...
Evening Scotty!
Evening!
Renting a Corolla with the above dash screen and hate it, feel the need to fold it down and slide it inside the dash.

Hi Scotty , will you do a show on The Honda HRV , please.
Love to know your thoughts.
Thanks !
I wish some company would just rebuild some classics and re-release them. Like some 90's acura's and honda's
WoW, I just got for my son a 2023 Accord Hybrid Sport and I paid 34k. I have a TLX Type S and the technology on the Accord makes my Type S look like an old car.
I mowed the lawn with a Honda today and it started running really uneven after a while. I wonder why.
I have a 20 year old Honda HRX mower. Mine started doing this too and I put a new carburetor on it and it is as good as new. Use non ethanol fuel and see if it helps.
Ethanol, like the man said.
glad i was able to get my 20' 25k mi sport for 24k a few weeks ago
Primer coat looks ok but when does it go in for the Colour paint finish ?
Im looking to get this same car in October.
Hatchback, 2.0, stick shift.
I wont be paying that much.
My Mom Got A 2023 Hodna Pilot Touring Model Before A Certain Video Of Yours
I gotta say I respect Roger Penske, he never did dealer mark ups at his Honda dealership or his Chevrolet dealer ship during the entire pandemic and even now.
Hard to get a good ride in Road Island...
Not the dealers fault……just say no and walk away. It’s very simple
yeah and eventually you'll find a dealer that wants to actually sell a car and thus sell it to you for the asking price instead of ripping you off
@@raven4k998 there are also plenty of used cars for half the price
He shouldn’t have paid anything over sticker price. Dealer prep charges are ridiculous too.
What do you think of 1995 Chevy prism
2:57 why did the captions censor ‘standard tranny’?
My FAVORITE CHANNEL👍👍👍
Still driving my 2012 Toyota camry. Haven't had a single problem with this car.
Scotty, have you heard any steering issues in the 10th/11th gens??
New Honda accord rims are the hottest thing on the market right now
I bought a brand new civic 2 door 2002 ex for $17,000 it had every option.
Everyone knows the plastic engine covers are for noise reduction.
Scotty i put anti sees' on my plugs it will not hurt will it?
Damn, my 2020 Civic SI sedan was only 26k brand new with 5 miles in Sept 2020. No way I'd pay that much for a lesser model. Did the guy have crap credit on top of the up-charge?
