I have always loved the little musical sting during the konami logo at the start of MGS. I never knew until tonight that it was part of a larger theme for policenauts.
"As usual, this is a one man infiltration mission." "Weapons and equipment OSP?" "Yes. This is a top secret black op. Don't expect any official support."
Nostalgia is a strange sensation... especially when you stumble across something long forgotten and it reawakens the memories in your mind and you realize you have missed it all this time without even knowing it....
There is a english fan translation. All you need is either the japanese game or a rom. Then download and patch it and there you go. One of the best intro themes in gaming history.

@@maxpayne4315 Just get a Sega emulator and a psx emulator. There's a fan translation of Policenauts that's on emulator sites and sega cd had an English version of Snatcher
Both Snatcher & Policenauts need to be released in the western countries, well despite Sega CD release but still Snatcher deserves a second change as well!
Today I heard a song that vaguely reminded me of this opening, but I could remember where it was from. I was distraught, because I knew I would have it my mind for a long time, until I got rid of the thought. That or finding out the song. I took a wild shot and tried to Google songs that go "Do do do dodo do" of course to no avail. But not all was lost, because I seemed to recall it was a theme. The next wild shot was looking for themes like X-files. Again no help here. Later in the evening, something stirred, was it something Metal Gear? I know the Solids themes, so it couldn't be those, but maybe the first ones or maybe that previous Kojima game, which I by the way have never played, but that just goes to show how much of a banger this theme is. Succes, I found the song and I can rest now. Didn't think it possible, but the deep depths of my mind didn't let me down today.
I woke up to this song and the dream I had was crazy. I was at an obscure house party that was blasting this over the speakers and I was just head bobbing like I was in night at the Roxbury talking to a whole bunch of strangers
I first played Metal Gear Solid 23 years ago. I have always loved the little melody that played over the Konami logo in that game. It wasn't until JUST NOW, hearing the Policenauts soundtrack for the very first time, that I found out where that melody was from. And now I've listened to the entire soundtrack. And Policenauts has one of the best game soundtracks I've ever heard.
Yeah. The blue haired guy strongly resembles Snake and/or Liquid. The style is similar to the cyberpunk-y design the first two mgs games have, mostly the first one. It seems that after 3 mgs created its own style.
Thanks to the awesome team and chads for translating this game from top to bottom. For players to experience what amounts to basically Lethal Weapon...IN SPACE!!! 🤣😁
I first heard this in Metal Gear Solid, and the funny thing is that one assumes that the first note falls on the first beat. Now I will never be able to listen to it the same way, the accentuation changed forever in my mind.
does anybody know what happened to a video that used a kickass remix of this song? had a speech clip near the end saying something about "you'll never know what it's like to love somebody unless you open up yourself" or something like that. would really appreciate it if someone can find the video!

+Karragh Looking for that was what brought me here.
lol me tu me tu
Wish they had that intro in the beginning of playing mgsv etc. Turning on mgsv and hearing that would have brought on the nostalgia.
Yes I Know its very sad...
Karragh don't worry took me almost 20 years to find this out lol 😂

Basic writer shit from him. I'm actually stricken that I didn't find this gem of a game earlier.
I always felt like Japan never got the memo that the 80's were over until the 00s
Such a lovely comment XD and yes, that's why I love me some 80s and 90s japanese soundtracks.
Yeah. Though, to be fair, 90 Anime in the west were mostly bad since publishers didn't know what the fuck they're buying.
That's why their stuff is awesome!
To be fair, it has been downhill for Japan ever since the 80s so why would they want to leave that decade?
You say that like it's a bad thing
back when KONAMI Knew what they were doing.
OHHHH SHIT SON
Oh you're right

Oi MGSV is good and uhh MGS IV suckedso ya good point but still
+ROI really?!
look at the new monstrosity KONAMI are pumping out.
Back when Konami was Ultra Games.
I loved that Kojima and Konami decided to recycle this tune for MGS.
he also "recycled" the Meryl character from this game :)
***** And he also recycled other things from this game.
+filipeflower MG.Mark II from Snatcher/Policenauts
to MGS4

One of the best intro themes in gaming history.
I hope this is used again in the intro to DEATH STRANDING
Unlikely, considering Konami technically owns that theme, now that Kojima has been fired.
+PaulfraDK Yeah I realized that right after I typed it :(
Just add a few duhs and it's homefree :D
That would bring a tear to my eye...
Kakashi Hatake sadly this is owned by Konami as well, meaning they're never gonna let Kojima have this one. 😔

Kojima really needs to do remake of both Snatcher and Policenauts, they're both awesome
Oof, don't see that happening anytime soon unfortunately...
They both belongs to Konami

The guy on the left is looks like Mel Gibson as he appeared in Lethal Weapon. :)
Thematically this game takes cues from Lethal Weapon. His earlier game, Snatcher, took cues from Blade Runner. It's all fantastic stuff. :)

Solid Snake is resembling more to Snake Plissken than Mel Gibson.
BeattilaX The appearance of Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid (1998) is based off of Chirstopher Walken.
Ander01SE That's Kyle Reese from Terminator. That the Metal Gear (1987) game cover.
Ed Berns Yep :p
