Ah! So THIS is where the Konami logo jingle from the Playstation version of the original Metal Gear Solid came from! Super cool! Now I can appreciate it as a throwback to this game as well.
I love the fact that this intro showcases a 2040 that COULD actually become true. Where other people were envisioning that half a century ahead we would have flying cars and stuff like that, here we get the good old four wheelers and buildings that are the same as back in the day. And people are still using the same guns and smoking the same cigarettes we are used to in contemporary times. We might just have some people in space here and there by 2040, so this is really accurate and mad props to the people who made this game at the time.

No, you're not stupid. You wouldn't have known since this game was never released outside of Japan, and most people are discovering it because they are fans of Metal Gear, and are learning about Hideo Kojima's other games.
Who here thinks Kojima needs to start making cartoons (yes, I mean both western and eastern animation) about his ideas? Hell with all the cut scenes in MGS4 and the story that spans over 8 games, it might as well have made the Metal Gear Franchise into an animated series. Games like: Snatcher, Policenauts and Zone of the Enders would make excellent shows especially if they were done by Watanabe's team.

@ElricSowrd Yes. In the 80's anime (TV series and movie) and I believe PS1 game he played the role of Nanto Suicho Ken master Rei. Since then he has been replaced for obvious reasons. He also played roles in all of (the original japanese versions of) Kojima's games at the time, including Randam in Snatcher, Tony Redwood in this, and Gray Fox in MGS.
I wish they would re-release this game in English with Snatcher and keep it the same as it is and not attempt to remake it other than cleaning up the visuals for HD.

@Bushiey No it never, policenauts was released on the PC in 1994 then it came to the playstation in 1995 and the sega saturn in 1996 metal gear solid came out in 1998 son!

this game looks alot better than metal gear solid, its a shame hideo kojima spent so much time on metal hear sequals, when he could have made more deeper storys like this..
