- The Rolex Submariner Ref. 1680 is a stunning classic. First introduced in 1966, the Ref. 1680 includes the date, unlike previous Submariners (ie. Ref. 5512 and 5513). The Infamous Red Submariner is also a Ref. 1680 which had the word "Submariner" in red lettering, manufactured from 1969-1975. This watch is an example of what is referred to as the "White Dial." It is the first Ref. 1680 with the word "submariner" in white lettering.

It's true. And they practically all start off, by saying, "let's get into it" quite annoying.
I think Roger Moore wore one on the set of the man with the golden gun. If you watch the end scenes were he is retrieving the 'Solex agitatior' from Scaramanga's large laser gun you can quite clearly see the double plexi dome and date bubble. Yet most people think he wore only the no-date 5513 from the close up time check outside the 'bottoms up ' club

@@craftandtailored yep true but I just meant for this film in particular. He did wear Digi in L.L.D, S.W.L.M etc but not M.W.T.G.G it was Rolex sub all the way in that. Classy vintage watch review , love it 👍👊

Tnx for the humor, as for the watch goes ..this model does not patina too my liking.. the yellowish markers put me off .. yellow reminds me if someone that is ill.. not a good way too look at things but it hits me that way
