    Decals, often overlooked in detailing and especially forgotten about when Macro Detailing Districts or sub regions of a City. But as Slay shows Decals need not necessarily be complex if decal-ing the City a district or even a scene like an industrial lot or an interchange. Nice work as always Slay!

    Thanks for this comprehensive tutorial! For some reason, I can't adjust the height op decals. Move it does work for roads, networks, props, and everything else. Just not for decals. Any idea what I might be doing wrong or which mod(s) I should enable/disable?

    • @Slay3K
      @Slay3K  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Vertex! There is an option you need to select, I can't remember if it's in Move It or another mod where you have to "allow submerge" of props and whatnot. That should fix this. I'll have to double check on which mod has that option, but you can go into your saved game and select it from the in game menu.

    I'm having trouble fading them into the ground. Page up and and page down aren't working for me. Move It mod seems to only select these decals when I select "surfaces". Won't let me select these deals as "decals" in Move It. Any suggestions???

    When I try to place decals I just get a red brush circle and no ability to place decals. I select the decal in Find It! 2 just like shown here - but the result is not the same. I don't get the decal on my cursor and can't place any. It's not an anarchy setting - I can't even see the preview to get far enough for it to be an anarchy issue.
    I'm sure I'm missing something basic, but can't figure it out. Any clues?

    How do I raise and lower decals? I have MoveIt!. I have Prop Snapping. When I select the decal with Moveit, PageUp and PageDown do nothing. When I put a decal on top of grass or a road, it disappears. I can select it with MoveIt area selection. I now have a bazillion decals and would like to start using them. Secondly, is there a way to easily align decals/props. Yo reference it several times in the videos, without explaining your methods.

    • @Slay3K
      @Slay3K  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should be able to align decals with Move It, much like any prop. Check out my Move it video for a better break down of how to align props/assets.
      You'll need to check your settings, I can't remember if it's under move it or prop snapping.. There should be a setting that 'allows to submerge' once you select that you should have better vertical control of the decal.
      I hope this helps.

    Great tutorial but one question, when i place a manicured grass decal on ground it adds brownish texture on the edges and below the decal.. how do i fix that?

    • @Slay3K
      @Slay3K  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You may need the Hide It mod. I think that's it at least, where you can remove "Ruin" -- that's what is being placed.

  • @MrSnacko
    @MrSnacko 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    After I lower my decals, why do they pop back up after a while? I have these prop mods installed: Prop Line Tool; Prop & tree Anarchy; Prop Snapping. And of course Move It!, and other mods. Is there some setting I need to change? I do have 'Allow prop to submerge' checked in Prop Snapping. I can adjust props heights (non-terrain conforming). Thanks.

    • @Slay3K
      @Slay3K  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will say that some items are just not able to submerge. Not sure why this is actually, but I know the issue you are talking about.

    • @MrSnacko
      @MrSnacko 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Slay3K .. I think my problem was that I, or some other asset (network) modified the terrain. And several decals pop up when you do that.

    Man holding CTRL changes my life... but I have an issue with changing visibility of the decal by pressing PageDown. It wont work on my game. Does anybody know how to fix this?

    • @Slay3K
      @Slay3K  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need to look under settings. I can’t remember if it’s Move It or under prop anarchy, but there’s a setting to submerge items that needs to be checked.

    • @Slay3K
      @Slay3K  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for the late response, I use a bunch of themes tied together. You can check out my theme mixer video for more information on that.
      Not sure what the asset is named and I don't currently have it in my folder. I think it's a part of a Russian architecture set.

  • @wildeditor

    This is great! I'm having a problem with my decals height resetting after I sink them into the ground. They either reset when I load a save or just randomly while I'm playing. Have you ever had that or any idea what might cause it?

    • @Slay3K
      @Slay3K  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! -- You may need to check a setting in the options for a Move it or another mod. I can't remember if it's Move It or Prop anarchy. It's allowing props to "submerge" you need to make sure that is enabled.

    I'm sort of confused, I place a road, choose a decal, move it over to the road, and it says "something is already right here" and the street goes red, so I go to "move it" and move it over to the road, and it doesn't show up. I'm confused

    • @Slay3K
      @Slay3K  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll need road anarchy. In those settings you can set collision to off. That may be your issue.

    This is missing some important info, like where to find decals, where to find them once in the game, and whether you need any mods.

    • @Slay3K
      @Slay3K  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there! Most of my videos are made with the understanding that mods will be required as I only do modded gameplay and the videos reflect that, I even bring it up in some of videos I create. I usually go with he understanding that folks watching these have already started utilizing mods and assets.
      For my gameplay, all mods and assets come from the steam workshop. In game they can be found via a mod called Finder. You'll also need Move It, Prop Snapping, and potentially Prop and Tree anarchy to replicate what I'm doing in this video.

    How do I create transparent decals?

    • @Slay3K
      @Slay3K  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You may need to select an option in the mod Prop Snapping so that you can submerge props and assets. Then, as you hit page down with move it and the decal selected, it should show it's transparency.

      Slay3K thank you. I am thinking of creating my own plaza and park and I would love to have people walk or stand in every tile

    • @Slay3K
      @Slay3K  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnraymarpiscos8845 To be clear, they will walk over a decal, the thing is that they have to have a sort of purpose for doing so. There has to be a sidewalk or a path for them to walk over it.
      You could also consider person generator type building which would spawn people in a specific radius around the spawn point.

    • @johnraymarpiscos8845
      @johnraymarpiscos8845 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Slay3K oh thanks for the tips. I would use both

    • @Slay3K
      @Slay3K  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem, sorry for the confusion. Like I said, if you have a path and put decals over it, people will walk through. Decals won’t interfere with where cims navigate. But to fill a plaza, you made need an asset that can generate cims to spawn.
