I remember when I first saw the WotherSpoons, I had no idea they were a collab and searched ages for the shoe. When I first found them I was devastated they resell for so much because I love/d them for how they look.
Still my fave pair of sneakers. Paid 1k, no regrets.
How's the sizing? 97s typically fit super tight on me but AM1s feels a tad long.

These are 🔥 and like many others, they are grails for me but not at the current market price. I think the most I’d spend on a pair is $500 and even that is a stretch.

The Nike Air Max 1/97 is a masterpiece. It's a collectors piece and Sean should have worked on more Nike silhouettes. As for his work for Adidas, it's not his best and they are going for retail, within 40 days will end up on sale. So in my opinion I was expecting more, but just got average.
One of, if not my favorite AM. Very happy to have this one in the collection.
I think hybrids are often overlooked. New Balance 1500.9 for example, which is a great looking shoe imo.

The 1/97 is a grail. I have the same pair as you . There seems to be some inconsistencies with the swoosh placement though. I've seen pairs where the swoosh looks higher up and some a bit lower down like yours. It could be a size difference thing.....

All the jordan hybrids were just made for the sake of making a hybrid, this one i feel like their was actual thoughts and creativity put into it, plus it look great together. That being said i would never pay $1000 for ANY shoes, even though they are fire 🔥
They are cool but I’m over them. When they first came out I paid resell like $400. I wore them a few times and sold them recently on goat used for 1k. I wasn’t really wearing them anymore
these were the sneakers that got me into sneakers, and i'm so upset I didn't get them when they first dropped, but I was like 13 :')
Love the Nike collab, but really the ZX 8000 collab is so underrated. I understand people not loving it, and i know the materials aren't top-tier and the comfort isnt amazing either BUT i love the boldness and all the different materials. It's a wild pair for sure, but it's worthy of more attention than its gotten.
as for all his other adidas collabs, they are fine but underwhelming.
For me still the best Air Max EVER! Because the AM97 is my second fav AM model and the AM1 is my 4th fav AM + I love the upper of the AM97 but the midsole was not my fav and with the AM1 I really like the midsole but the upper is too boring for me so the hybrid is the perfect Matchup for me personal

I think they look great, I wouldn't call them overhyped in the way Off white/Travis, I'd compare them to a really good design like NB 992 Joefresh goods.
The corduroy and collab aspects change the game as far as a hybrid
I remember some TH-cam running around nyc to find them.
These were fire and clean and unique, the few pairs after this he did he just over played the corduroy

Sean’s best shoe by far for me. I’m sure he loves his creative freedom at adidas but all of those have been big L’s so far
The Asics were nice and the superstars were okay. However that new model is terrible if it wasn't a collab with him, it would be on sale.

Silhouette popularity makes the difference. Adidas doesn't have as many silhouettes that rival Nike popularity in each space. The SW 1/97 is special on many levels, the contest, a technical collab, the hybrid, his design, the materials, the story all culminated in one of the best hype shoes ever. Definitely his best work, w/ the Asics a close underrated 2nd.

Took an L years ago on these. Grabbed air max crepe in the dark color this year for less than 100. I am fine. My airmax one has corduroy and chenille... And suede. Close enough. With a different crepe sole. I still want SW airmax but for 1,000... And these airmax crepe in my size are 500 on stockx. I did well. Not skepta airmax BW well. But close.

Never seen those two other hybrids, but they were definitely ugly af imo. The 97/1 looks so dope. I didn't know they existed. I've always liked the upper of the AM97s, but prefer the silhouette of AM1s.

I have the white superstar, the zx 8000 and the superturf. I love them because you have a lot of options in terms of what you wear. I also really like because they're really out there, they don't look like any other shoe. I've kinda stopped wearing simole/plain shoes and only go for crazy looking stuff
I think that's also why I prefer Adidas compared to Nike. Adidas can have some crazy shoes like the Kerwin frost stuff and Jeremy Scott and stuff like that. Nike does it as well but not nearly as often. Only nike/Jordan shoe that I've been dying to get was the j balvin 1

I honestly think they are on the right hype level. It's his best Collaboration and probably been the best air max shoe in the last 10 years. I've got two pairs. I close to ds pair and a beater pair that I love to wear.
