You can tell that you really have a love of the actually sneakers on every video. It’s obvious you don’t just research and regurgitate information. I have several pairs of AM97s. I agree that they don't have much cushioning feel, but they have good impact absorption. They especially have a nice heel-to-toe transition on pavement. I think heavier people will feel it more.
they are also absolutely wonderful for dancing - particularly shuffling.
I'm glad these were easier to get than they were in '17 lol. Definitely agree that these are not an all day wear, but I'm a Air Max Guy so I was gonna buy them regardless. I hope this means that the OG 98s will release next year since nike is doing the 5 year anniversary release schedule.
So happy these were an easy cop. I fell in love with this shoe the first time I saw'em in 97. Actually copped them in Yokohama. I literally ran those shoes into the ground and plan to do the same with these 2022's.
The front is narrow and because of the stiff uppers, going half or even one size up is recommended for wide feet
Still wearing my pair from the last time. Grabbed these to have a fresh pair and they were delivered yesterday. The only difference is the paint job on the midsole this time is much better. You can even see a bit of a sparkle in the paint better this time.
That stitch on the outside of the upper above the red nike stitch was the deal breaker for me, will be sticking to my 2017 pair

Mine arrive today! Completes my Fantastic 4 (Air Max 1 OG, Air Max 90 Radiant Red, Air Max 95 OG Neon). Missed the 2017 release.
Its wild to me that people think 97s are uncomfortable.. I’m def not running in them like what they were originally meant for but they feel totally fine as a casual shoe. Also shocked that it’s mentioned TTS. I always have to size up due to the narrow and stiff upper.
If you’re used to shoes such as adidas ultra boosts, these will feel like bricks but imo are still bearable
Yeah I don't get it either they definitely feel pretty damn good to me 🤷
It's the way your heel slips out and pulls your socks down for me, it's not uncomfortable in a sense of softness just the way it feels when you walk, to run in these you need to tie them up so tight that you have to unite the laces to take them on and off lol I had to go up half size just because the right shoe felt tight on-top of my toes but even that size was slipping
I was super upset that the 16' release was so hyped. I'm happy I was finally able to get these.🤗
Classic Air Max🔥🔥🔥, I rocked these at launch in 97 and I'm so glad hype-beasts have them sitting, as I've been able to cop two pairs.
At work I switch between wearing the air max 90 and the amrc air max 97's. I work 12 hour shifts and by the end of the day those 97's feel like wood on bricks. The 90's on the other hand...polar opposites...comfy as hell.
Most definitely idk what it is about the technology they had in 1990 but I find the air max 90’s are so damn comfortable

Ikr by the time I was able to afford these there were much more comfortable options out there that also looked dope 😂.
They are mostly for styling now. No one really uses this for running anymore. They clean but definitely ain't in the comfort department. Unlike the 90s.
The Og air maxes where super comfortable but the trade off was that the air units would deflate and the foam would degrade after time.
So like vans but clunkier?
compared to the ‘17 release I thought the overall build and shape was definitely an improvement. i’ve seen that pic of the OGs floating around but that’s the only pic of the OG i’ve seen with a collar that looks that high (all of the pics of original i’ve seen all look a little bit different). it could be a factory to factory thing or those could be a sample pair? when i look at that specific pic, the screen near the midsole looks wonky compared to other pics of OG floating around. i wish shoezeum was still doing reviews to compare. anyway great review. happy everyone could get their pair.

I love this colorway and I love the 97. I just wish Nike would upgrade the midsole.
I begrudgingly ordered a pair, I still have 2 pairs from 2017, so it feels a bit excessive to have 3, but I wanted to be able to compare these and have a newer set for when the old ones start to go bad.
I love my air max 97 Nintendo edition. Perfect sneaker you can’t go wrong with on trips
To me, this is the best looking pair of shoes I have ever seen and thankfully owned. However, very fragile and can rip quite easily
I still have mine from '17 and definitely not as comfortable as the 95's, but I'm buying them just for nostalgic purposes.

Whuuuhuuuuuuu I also have the 97 max from 2017 silver Bullet. Wear them often. BUT I do not Like that the stitches above the swoosh are in the OUTSIDE. The 2017 batch is stiched in the INSIDE.

I’m so glad I was able to cop for retail. I wish I could have tried on a pair from 1997 cuz these are comfy too me so I bet the old pairs were even better.
I love this shoes, my uncle had them back in 97 and I was very happy when I got the re release in 2017 (?) But my feet hurt like hell after an hour or so wearing them so unfortunately these are not for me. But I love them nonetheless!
The also known Millenniums used to be a must cop back in the day. Silver and gold bullets sold out asap so i ve got the total white pair!
The bicycle is the inspiration behind the aluminum-like color of the sneaker. The designer himself had mentioned he had an affinity for the mountain bikes of the '90s which had the same finish. Bullet trains were not a thought whatsoever in the design process though many people believe that to be the case.
They believe it to be the case because Nike put an article out detailing the inspiration behind the design listing bullet trains as the inspiration.
That’s Nike being Nike. Plenty of articles, recent and old, state that the inspiration behind the color of the sneaker is Tressers love/fascination for mountain bikes. Silver bullet trains is just “spicier” and “sexier” than saying they were inspired by some mountain bikes. Either way, fantastic sneaker, definitely happy to own, love the box details too.

I found out about the lack of comfort of the AM97 when then Infrareds dropped alongside the AM90/AMIII Infrared. Copped both, guess which one I wear and which one I admire from afar? I love these but I want to enjoy wearing my shoes, not just looking at them in the closet.
Just picked up a pair of these bad boys. I am glad they are not all hyped up and I was able to just walk into a store and grab a pair. Great Video. Love your work.
I had those in 1997, bought them at Nike Town in Atlanta. They were $200. They were HELLA COMFY in 1997. Most retros....suck. 😔
What did the OG box look like back in 97?
I have insanely narrow feet, so the 97s are actually super comfy for me.
GO HALF A SIZE UP
I ordered my regular size (45) on release date from SNKRS app and tried them on today (don’t ask why 😅) and realized that I needed half a size up for 100% comfort. Unfortunately Nike app hasn’t any 45.5 left in stock so I will have to deal with that little snug feeling at the front of the shoe
Now that you've mentioned a different material was used for that midsole, I would consider the 1s, 90s, 95s, and Plus to be better than the 97s for comfort. You won't feel that air unit on the 97s today unless you weigh a little more than 150 lbs as I can only feel a bit of the forefoot area of it. I would really love it if it was phylon than polyurethane instead. Make classic shoes comfortable again!
I bought the Air Max 97, not in this colorway but the black/white colorway in my true size 10, a few years back and 20 mins later I returned them(Nike Factory store). They absolutely murdered my feet. But I did like how they looked like. Fast forward to last Sunday and I tried on a 10.5 and it felt a lot better. I don't mind the lack of actual cushioning. On top of them being on sale for $107, I also had a 30% coupon so I got them for $83 out the door, which made me love them even more.
Yo! Great review. I just recently got into the 97’s bcuz as you said not the most comfortable + had to grow on me. I figured I’d give this a try as it’s an OG model + passed in prev years. But a solid shoe and looks great on foot. Keep it up! Your channel is clutch!

I left those on the shelf, with hopes of copping the lost and founds, I went with hype over heart, and hype disappointed me!

when brand new i agree 97s are uncomfortable but once you break them in they are comfortable.

Actually, the air max 97 pair I had in the 90’s was the most comfortable pair of shoes I ever wore. So weird maybe your feet are deformed or something.

I still have my 2016-17 pair. They were already reselling at the $300 range and found my size at a Shoe Palace for retail. Not sure if I'll wear it because every company has something more comfortable to offer. Might just keep it for the collection.

Can’t wait to cop my first pair! Sucks to hear they aren’t comfortable man, the 97s are the best looking air max imo.
It’s a different kind of comfort. I find that these shoes are very comfortable for all day wear, just because they are harder. Sneakers with very soft cushion may feel very comfortable but only for a little bit, then they feel terrible for the rest of the day. I wear Air Max 97s to the gym and I think they are great for that too. Much better than my Ultraboost 21s which I kept rolling my ankles in.
@@peterdagata1610 is there another pair of shoes that you could compare the polyurethane to? Maybe it requires an extensive break in period.
@@mikeycrackson I agree. I love the 95s and find them to be extremely comfortable, more than the 97s.
@@cmtz13 They feel a bit like some of the older Jordans. The 5s feel pretty similar except the 5s don't have full length air, so the Air Max 97s feel more comfortable because you don't feel where the Air units end in the forefoot. The upper on the 5s is more comfortable than the upper on the Air Max 97s though, as there is more space with softer materials. I recommend the Air Max 95s, honestly, because they feel (and look) the best to me out of the older Air Max line.
One of the few fashion over function air maxes out there. So beautiful, my favorite model. Not sure if I pick up a new pair even if I have the 2017 retro

The most uncomfortable shoe I've ever worn, only rivaled by the Yeezy 700 v3. But damn they're tanks. Wore my daily for many years until the bubble finally gave.

9th grade memories wanted a pair so bad back n the day I'm on my 3rd pair .
i wish they hadnt broken the material of the lowest "ring" of the upper with that extra seam on the outer side. Previous releases looked much cleaner with that ring only broken on the medial side.

Looking down at them is dope, looking at them from the side is dope…. The comfort stays the same throughout the day, they do t become less comfortable, they stay uncomfortable. Which, ya know… I hate when my shoes lie to me.

I m 74kg and feel airmax 97 comfortable. It is stylish and well made
they should have put the psi sign under...that touch would have been classic....and yh they are too bricky in the back...probably its for longevity and durability

I had these exact shoes back in 97 and they were very uncomfortable. I wore them just a few times and actually threw them in the garbage.
The 96s where way more comfortable. I got the Gold ones when they released the last time but the are soooo uncomfortable and I have only worn them twice I think.

Like some folks here, I’ve also received some poor quality pairs. I literally bought 3 pairs to try to get a legit one. I’ve noticed shoes from Foot Locker are poor quality compared to ones direct from Nike.
I’m curious if anybody has noticed that the shoelace lengths are different…The left one is longer 🤦🏻♂️ I had a pair of white and navy blue AM97’s a couple years back and it was the same case. Where’s the QC at Nike??

0:40 I’ve ordered these but I’m not sure why they’ve put a seam in the middle of outer side of the shoe. My all black 97s only have a seam on the inside
I found the qc in airmax 97s is absolutely shocking of late even by Nike standards, I have the 2017 version of these and agree not comfortable. Also I’m sure the mesh where the swoosh is metal on mine?
