  • I never thought I'd see a remake of the LEGO Star Wars 7931 Jedi T-6 Shuttle but with the Ahsoka show LEGO Star Wars has created the 75362 Ahsoka Tano's T-6 Jedi Shuttle and while it's smaller, it's got a better design, easier to use play functions, and a shockingly good Minifigure line-up.

    What I hate about Lego is so many ships that have interiors are downsized to single pilot interiors 😢

      @@IntergalacticDustBunnywhy would the collector still support things like that to happen? Collectors are the worst. It's making all our set smallers. Thanks to collectors dumbness by feeding them so they can keep doing shitty products.

    • @gelatinguy
      @gelatinguy 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@espguitarz1 I don't think this is the case. As mentioned above, the main reason is the shelf display tends to be most important for builders, and without making the ship to minifig scale (neither T-6 is minifig scale), they chose to shrink the cockpit/interior so the exterior looks nice. With a ship of that scale, you can't have both a minifig scale interior and proportional exterior. You have to choose. The only solution to this, of course, is to have a full model, which is why the more famous ships (like Luke's X-Wing) have a smaller playset ship and the full minifig scale ship.
      It may not be what you want, but that's the reality of the scale they are marketing toward. Or do you want all the sets to either be larger interiors with bad proportions, or do you want them to be 3x as expensive to be full minifig scale?

    • @Rievax17
      @Rievax17 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@gelatinguyyeah exactly. With this ship I don’t think you could even get to minifig scale without going full UCS, and even then Lego isn’t strong enough as a material to both incorporate the interior and look good on the outside at that sizd

    • @gelatinguy
      @gelatinguy 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Rievax17 One thing I'd like to see Lego do more often is to "Polly Pocket" a ship, which is what I call it when the interior doesn't match the exterior, but it's a fun playset inside. So make the outside look like a nice ship, then crack open the ship like a clam shell and have the interior be the cockpit or whatever is most interesting.

  • @stannypk5k9
    @stannypk5k9 ปีที่แล้ว +33

    I think the downsized cockpit is a deal breaker for me. Major issue, and it really gives the ship a "small-scale" vibe. The immersion is broken, so to speak. Even though overall the new ship's design is nicer and the storage is good, the 1-minifigure space for the cockpit is just plain bad/inaccurate. This lack of space in the ships is a terrible trend recently - from Boba Fett's ship to this. What happened to creativity, like the one used for design of Razor Crest or Transport Scythe? I'd rather this ship to be $30-$40 more expensive but nail the interior space. It would be perfect then.

      100% see where your are coming from here, but I will say with the scale they went the small cockpit does look good and a bigger cockpit wouldn’t look right. That being said I agree they should have made a bigger set entirely so more figures could fit in a larger scaled cockpit.

    Ahsoka show version of the T-6 features an extra engine and that rear turret. The Clone Wars and Rebels models didn’t have that.
    I like the new one’s body shaping more, the old one is super simple and round looking. I like the angles of the new one.
    A bigger cockpit would need a bigger set, the next appropriate cockpit would be one like the Falcon uses. And I think they’d have to scale up the wings and body for it to not look too funny.

  • @drabkebab
    @drabkebab 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Lego has obviously gotten more technologically advanced and so is able to make their sets more movie accurate in terms of design, but apart from that I'd say the 2011 set trumps the 2023 set in every way. The 2011 set had more play features, it was bigger, it looked cooler (even if less accurate) and while the minifigures were obviously less detailed back then, the variety of minifigures is significantly better than the 2023 set. I'd also personally set the big engines of the older set look way better than the newer ones, and I've always preferred the flick-fire missiles to the stud shooters. In fact this is the first time I've heard anyone say they disliked flick-fire missiles or liked stud shooters lol. The smooth spinning of the new set can be a plus but it can also be a nuisance as it turns by itself when there is a slight bit of uneven weight distribution, I don't know about the old set's turning.
    This is coming from someone who owns the 2023 set but not the 2011 set.

    I 100% prefer flick missiles over studs. Personally I like the look of flick fire missiles and they’re nice to play with, you can’t lose them because they don’t shoot far and they can be used for other builds. Stud shooters look ugly and they’re a pain to play with because they get lost easily, can’t do much with green studs.

    • @SelvesteSand
      @SelvesteSand ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree. I don't like the flick-fire function either, but it's better than stud shooters. They're less easily activated on accident and don't get lost as easily. When I play, not that I do it often anymore, but even when I was a child, if I'm firing a missile, I want to have the missile in my hand so I can guide its path and savor every second of its slow-motion flight, then control its impact. Swooshability doesn't only apply to ships. I remember some Hoth battle set from probably 15-20 years ago where you could press somewhere and send a minifigure flying as if being blown away by an explosion, and I wondered if anyone would actually find that fun compared to just picking up the minifigure and acting out his being-blown-away manually, even wondered if the adults designing it had forgotten how to play. Even back then, I remember picking up on -- and being bothered by -- a move towards automatisation.
      Jango's Slave I had missiles sitting on studs so that you would take them off manually and "swoosh" with them. That was great. Now it's all stud shooters everywhere.

    I honestly might end up modifying the new Shuttle because I personally just cannot stand the look of the new downsized cockpit. I think it’s the cockpit piece they used that just looks choppy/janky. The cockpit on the 2011 T6 is just built way smoother and rounded than the new one that looks more awkward and square with weird ledges.
    I just really wish that the designers played with the new ones cockpit more. The rest of the 2023 shuttle does look to be an improvement over the 2011 version especially when it comes to the middle fuselage construction.

    Another note, the old one is more accurate as the cockpit is not meant to be sticking out

    People keep saying that the new T-6 is massively downscaled next to the old one, but just looking at the top-down comparison, they really aren't that different in size. The new one is only a tiny bit smaller than the old one in its overall size. The only thing that's really truly smaller than the old one is the cockpit, but granted, the old cockpit was oversized on the old model compared to the proportions of the actual ship.

    Might have to open my 1st T-6 shuttle from but i will be getting the new set as I love the figs. Is the new cockpit print meant to be white but looks grey due to a poor print? Herer in New Zealand we paid $130 for the 1st set and $140 for the new 2nd set.

    Dang didn’t realize just how small the new one is until I see it next to the old one

    I wanna know the actual dimension. The OVERALL size actually looks the same, just looks like the made the cockpit smaller.

    Are you able to edit the set so that you could slot the old cockpit into it?

    I just like the white and red together, such a good look on anything. The gray just looks bad to me even if it's more intricate detail wise

    Ask Mandr: Do you think it’s possible that we get a Radiant VII next year because of the anniversary + the red colour sceme that we currently have. And we have seen the same thing with the coruscant gunship!

    If the T-6 shuttle of 23 would worth it more for that price of $80 bugs it would have those play figures of the escape pod upgraded better, should have been more big the ship and last the details of both sides of the ship could look way more creative color design, yes yes yes yes yes!!! The T-6 2023 blows our 🤯!

    I really miss a flight mode display option. Like on the box art, T-6 looks much more interesting in this position, and waste less space on shelf. Excactly the same case with the B-Wing model.

      The UCS B-wing does have a stand for flight mode display. And the T-6 can be displayed in a non-horisontal wing position as if in flight, although it needs its landing gear out for balancing. But of course vertical position is difficult to achieve... The T-19, however, truly can only be displayed in landing position. :/

    The design of the booklets has changed to save on ink. Personally I think that is fine.

    I'm terrible at designing myself, but I wonder how good of one could be made out of two new sets?
