I just made my mum's 60th birthday cake using your tutorial, it was my first time and it came out perfect! She was overjoyed, thank you so much! Love from Australia
Wow. I've seen so many tutorials of people doing this and painstakingly going over and over their cake to get a straight edge and this is the first time Ive seen this technique. So much simpler and so much easier. Thank you for that!!!
Thank you! As a home baker (and Mommy of 3) with a growing customer base, I have been struggling to achieve shard edges. Thank you! Best tutorial I've seen!
Please give me some advice how to start at home baking business? I started but only selling 5 a month for now from friends. Anything would help? Thank you!
I love this comment!!! I know it's old but still, it's so sweet to see experts using tips and tricks from others and acknowledge that. Some people are too proud! It's such a shame because theyre missing out! Learning new things doesn't mean you aren't great at what you do! It goes to show that no matter how great you are there is always room to grow 💗
Great tutorial. I"'ve been making cakes for years but your method is so much easier, quicker and so much more foolproof. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for sharing.
I have seen many of them (other cake decorators & cooks) use the bumpy sort of liner for shelves, bins, and drawers, that is like a fat mesh. They cut a square of it that sits under their cake board, and it stops the sliding issue better than tape of any kind. Plus, just wash it and reuse it tons of times, so a little 10 ft²/.9m² roll of it could last most people quite awhile!
I am so happy and grateful for this tutorial. I struggle with getting flat tops. My last 2 cake orders I used the upside down method and they came out perfect. Thank you so much. Love and light from Jamaica 🇯🇲
Wow, I’ve been making cakes for a while now and have always struggled with this. This method seem so useful, will definitely give it a try next time. Thank you so much
Well that just blew my mind! You are a genius!! Flipping the cake twice, who knew?!? Thank you!! I had been resigned to my cakes are crooked but oh well, they taste good. That was a clear and detailed great tutorial!!
I see so many decorators put their crumb-coat cakes in the refrigerator. I was instructed to put in in the freezer - just 10-15 minutes does the trick without drying out the cake (as the moisture in the cake quick-freezes in the freezer and then "re-moisturizes" during thawing. It really works well!
I don’t prefer putting the cake in the freezer. Because as soon as you will bring it out of the freezer it will start sweating really badly. The sudden extreme temperature change messes up so many things. Hence I don’t freeze, I refrigerate. Hope this helps
@@Scrumptiouscakesbyfairy hmmm . I hadn’t thought of that. I haven’t had a sweating problem, but I wonder if that’s a factor of local climate conditions?
Thank you for such a thorough tutorial. I would like to suggest something for you. They're called cake strips. They will help your cakes to be flat across the top so you don't have to cut the dome off and then have to deal with crumbs. Just soak them in water, squeeze them out and put them around your cake pan before baking.
I have PME baking strips but as I bake at low temperatures my cakes mostly come out almost flat I don’t get many off cuts. 😊 Thank you Peace and love Faryal
This. Is. Everything. Thank you so much! I made a cake for the first time and everyone and myself were so impressed how smooth and sharp the frosting was!

Wonderful tutorial!!! I know there are acrylic disks that can be used to get sharp edges, but I am amazed at how you do it with a simple white cake board piece. You are truly good at what you do.
Judy Fleming thank you so much for the positive feedback. I know about the acrylic disc they are expensive aren’t they? Plus when you have to do same size cake cake in multiple quantity you need more than one set. I am absolutely against paying extra £s when I know the result can be achieved in cheaper ways ☺️and you know how addictive this cake making is lol my kitchen is short of space. Regards Faryal

You have a wonderful explanations and tips. Very useful and important. Waiting for more video tutorial. You’re not just sharing the recipe but instead you share on how to make it properly. Thank you
If you used cake pan strips, you wouldn't have to shave off the top of each layer to be flat. Also, piping the icing, using a large tip, in a spiral between layers and on top greatly decreases the chance that crumbs get into you icing while spreading.
If you placed a piece of waffle shelf liner under your cake, it wouldn't slide around when you are working on it. Once I have frosting contaminated with crumbs I never scrape it back into the bowl of frosting.
This was an AWESOME and extremely informative video. This is my first video of yours I have seen but I look forward to seeing many more. Thanks so much for sharing your talent.
Brit Glasper in the beginning it will take you some time to do all the steps but once you get a hang of it, it wouldn’t take that long 🙂 Thank you Peace and love Faryal

I would suggest putting a non-skid mat down on the turntable to keep the cake board from sliding around while working on it.
I had this same issue. The cake card held the cake but the card kept moving around on the turn table😞
I have used double side tape
I have seen many of them (other cake decorators & cooks) use the bumpy sort of liner for shelves, bins, and drawers, that is like a fat mesh. They cut a square of it that sits under their cake board, and it stops the sliding issue better than tape of any kind. You have a wonderful explanations and tips. Very useful and important. Waiting for more video tutorial. You’re not just sharing the recipe but instead you share on how to make it properly. Thank you
Your feedback means a lot.

If you used cake pan strips, you wouldn't have to shave off the top of each layer to be flat. Also, piping the icing, using a large tip, in a spiral between layers and on top greatly decreases the chance that crumbs get into you icing while spreading.
Amelia Reagan Wright your right! I love cake pan strips. I made my own.

If you placed a piece of waffle shelf liner under your cake, it wouldn't slide around when you are working on it. Once I have frosting contaminated with crumbs I never scrape it back into the bowl of frosting.
This was amazing! You make me wanna bake cakes again
