    I've always wondered whether people say my music is boring whenever they yawn while I play. They say "keep playing" though, so maybe they like it.

    upto secondary dominant it was good then it just fell apart. May be it is just me but i like simple harmony and not putting too much emphasis on the harmony notes, in this case the melody is forced to take a backstage by all those complex harmonies at stage 4 and 5, however a great insight; Should help to write compositions that has cromaticism in the melodic motif.

    • @alexanderbayramov2626
      @alexanderbayramov2626 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      tbh it's probably really hard to reharmonize the same melody in both simple and more advanced styles so that both would sound equally convincing, at least I haven't found any convincing enough tutorial on that topic on yt sadly :/

    Real question: How long does it take you to arrange, for example, five pieces like these? Does it require much effort, or are you at a point where your knowledge makes it just happen? Besides the Barry Harris stuff you're still learning, I mean. And do you need to rehearse these pieces much before recording, or is everything already just 'there' because of all the years of practice? Also, I'm pretty sure I counted 3011 chords, but what do I know? I'm just an intermediate guitarist.

    • @LucasBrar
      @LucasBrar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +96

      It goes pretty fast, since I’ve been doing it a long time. Many things become automatic from muscle and visual memory. So I can do it almost instantly. The last level I worked a bit on. When recording I usually do a couple of takes and choose the best ones of those. The hard and excruciating part is editing the actual video haha.

    I find it funny how you go from explaining diatonic triads directly to secondary dominants. There really is a level between just using diatonic chords and then secondary dominants. The whole idea of what happens when you simply add the 7th to the chord and how to resolve dominant seventh chords should be understood.
