I watched this man step by step to replace my water pump and he was clear on every bolt every bracket.. just a satisfying achievement to feel my heat and watch the temp guage climb no higher then 180' ...Thankyou sir !

Good morning to you Sir,
I currently have a 2003 Durastar am working on.
I am having no oil in the reservoir in front of the HPOP, truck has been started with shorts so engine runs but shuts of.
Though am not a mechanic but I work on my stuffs by myself.
Here it is;
I learnt there is a regulator prone to stick open behind the oil filter/cooler.
Already pulled it but I guess the regulator is on the crank case.
Could you please point me to how I can remove this and also explain how I can test or check it to validate if it is still good.
I got one in hand in case it’s bad, I can literally push it with screw driver and I can tell it is spring loaded.
All type of help will be welcomed

I have a similar issue with a dt466 engine cracked cover plate around compressor leaking oil. The engine runs and sounds great. The vehicle is for light use. How long will it last if I just run it this way and keep up with it on oil, indefinitely? What could happen if I just continue to run it this way? Thank you
high pressure oil pump is fine, just a cracked cover plate
@user-jf9bp6mo3i Just keep an eye on the oil level. Most likely it has a low engine oil shut off device. But you do not want to ever run low on engine oil.

I have 97 4700 and it looses fuel pressure overnight I've replaced both fuel lines,primer,and all o-rings going to lines,it starts but will not hold prime still. Could the ferry ball cause this problem I'm stumped?
You are still getting air from some where. In the past on the 95-97's. I had to replace the plastic Fuel Lines. It's very hard to tell if they need replacing.

Good question, I would call a International Truck Dealer and give them the last 8 of the vin#. The Parts Department can answer that question. Thanks
Will only certain scanners work on this motor? I’ve got a scan gauge for a 7.3 already
You will need the round 6 or 8 pin connector. And if your scanner have the Heavy Duty Software. You should be good
What year DT466 is that truck? I have a 2003 International DT466 that I believe my high pressure oil pump has gave out. I'm trying to locate a part number before I pull it out.

@Robert Mann that is a good question. If the Pump is bad. It would be very difficult to start it on starting fluid. Keep in mind that these pumps are very expensive. I would highly recommend to put a scanner on for vehicle before you purchase a High Pressure Oil Pump.
So if you have 0 oil pressure, How do you determine if it is the High pressure pump or the the other pump on the front of the crankshaft? Thank you.
My Laptop showed me that it was the High Pressure Oil Pump.

can high pressure oil pump cause oil to get into the fuel tanks? or cause the injector seals to break if the ipr is broken?
It sounds like leaking Injector O-Rings allowing Oil to push into the Fuel Rail. This will allow Engine Oil to go into your Fuel Tank.

Es correcto, después encontré la tabla de aprietes del DT 466 E y así lo indica

No sir, just remove old pump and install new pump.

I used the DLB Diamond Logic Builder.
Or sometimes I get lucky using the Genisys EVO
