  • Are you looking for the most realistic drift cars on Assetto Corsa? In this video I review a ton of popular drift packs and talk about how realistic they are compared to my experience moving from Assetto Corsa to drifting in real life. It took forever to put the footage together, but this video covers 1:1 Simulation Squad, ADC 420, Aiden's S13, BDC Street V4, Death wish Garage 3.0, Excite V2, Fumi V1.3, Gravy Garage, Kunos, Lenny's 180sx, Tando Buddies, Tsujigiri Lights, and World Drift Tour Street. I also tested most of these packs on my Simagic Alpha Mini setup, as well as my old Thrustmaster T300RS to get a well rounded opinion. That said... If you're looking to use Assetto Corsa to learn how to drift in real life, or if you just want to drift with the most realistic cars in game, this review should help point you in the right direction.
    Since people will inevitably ask for links, here is a spreadsheet I put together covering all or most of the packs in this video. It's also a great starting point for anyone new to Assetto drift:
    docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
    Topics in this video:

    I appreciate the lack of snobbery in your vids. The amount of utter bull***t that people say online about certain kinds of cars being 'worthless' to drive...the way that everyone's an expert on what an 1100hp Skyline feels like to drift...it's very irritating. Let people drift what they want, and at least have the humility to admit that almost none of us have a way to be certain about realism when it comes to competition cars, and most of us are in the same boat even with low horsepower ones.

    • @JankyDrift
      @JankyDrift  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah the folks arguing about realism in pro cars are always funny to me. Would be like me arguing about the realism of a space ship simulator. That said, the most recent VDC pack has been my favorite pro car so far. Feels like a hopped up version of a grassroots car vs WDT which I can't even drive.

    • @thesprawl2361
      @thesprawl2361 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JankyDrift Funny you should say that, the latest VDC pack is my go-to too. The C6 Corvette in that pack is the most precise, controllable competition car I've ever driven. It's my favourite car in AC, after two or three years of experimentation with the modding scene. Off the top of my head, the Shelby Mustang and the Zenki S14 too.
      It's got some terrifying cars, and it's got a few where the gearing lets them down(which is the most common problem with the feel of a car for me), and they bog in 3rd, which doesn't seem right for an 1100hp car, but that pack's the best balance between controllability and high-grip snappiness that I've found yet.
      My one recommendation for you is from the Doorbreakerz Evo 3 competition pack. The JZX100 Mk 2, with the gold Enjuku livery. The exhaust sound is bonkers. I have no idea if that's what a Chaser sounds like with a Nissan engine in it(probably not) but it sounds so insane I don't really care. If you can find that car pack it's worth it for the eargasm of that exhaust note. I've still not heard another mod in the game that sounds as good. Very highly recommended.

    • @JankyDrift

      @@Funkyflykiwi maybe not diesels but when you've got a large turbo on a smaller displacement/cylinder car there's generally some delay to spool up from when you lay the hammer down (you may already know this). Try the AiO car pack.
    You can mix and match physics/tires & power.
    They use the Gravy bodies, which isn't ideal obviously, but paired with the physics it's very fun.
    My favorite combos are DWG physics/tires plus VDC power, and excite physics/tires with VDC power.

    Fumi garage cars are very enjoyable to drive. It doesn't feel too arcadey, but there's definitely a lot of understeer in them. I love a snappy feel in my RC drift cars (real drifting fake cars), and these scratched that itch for me in sim (fake drifting real cars).. the transitions and snaps are catchable, but not easy for a beginner like me to keep doing consistently.. which is a good thing imo. I want to be challenged but be able to get it right every once in a while so I have a consistent feel I can strive for... when I checked the suspensions file, sure enough, true to real life front to rear roll bar and suspension settings.

    Some of the packs i have are in your list as well, and i have noticed that most of them they tend to understeer, like, i have to realy pull the handbreak to be able to maintain the drift or turn. I'm not sure if i'm a noob or not but i believe i can say i'm getting quite alright at drifting and no mather what i do with the wheel, turning it full left or right, the car doesn't want to turn/go that direction at all, which fcks up my drift and makes me crash because i can't adjust where the car needs to go. I have a favourite car so far, is the "Aiden's 1jz S15" with 333bhp ( so its says ) and has tons of angle and power if you have the turbo at 100% and sometimes it doesn't turn/want to go where i turn the wheel. I've played with the tires pressures recently for both front and rear as they were quite high and also with the LSD Lock Power which by default it was at 100% and took it down to 70% for start. I've noticed better handling because it has better grip after those changes but i always have the turbo 20-30% so it doesn't spin easy. I had the same issue with the 4Doors HR34 Skyline from the WDTS pack where the car wouldn't want to go where i was stearing towards to, messing up my drift. I had to also pull the handbreak a lot, sometimes clutch kick wouldn't do much, but, maybe if you could give it a try for me and let me know, at least i would know i have to improve and the car is fine. I saw in another comment you mentioned that you do a lot of regular racing. Adjusting the trajectory while in drift is a lot different than in racing, so you'll likely just have to spend some time getting used to that. Where in regular racing you might reduce throttle and steer into a turn, in drifting you might need to add more throttle and let the car countersteer to gain more angle. With a 300hp car I probably wouldn't turn the turbo down lower than 50 or 60%. Then with LSD it's generally easier to control a drift car if the diff is locked, so I'd recommend sticking with 100%.

    Good video, have you heard of the Drift Workshop cars? I believe they are essentially a more realistic version of the WDTS cars and I believe them to be some of the more realistic mods for drifting. not sure if they are still available but they are great and not like WDTS where you can enter any corner and drift it no problem.

    I started learning 2 weeks ago on WDT cars. While it goes without saying that I have no where near the amount of experience needed to adequately analyze thse car packs, the WDT cars take a relatively miniscule amount of braking effort to lock up the wheels, which signals an issue with the tire model in my uneducated and completely unqualified opinion. i find the DWG cars easier to catch in the transitions because they actually feel grippier, and as such I find myself having to manage revs more, steer with throttle, etc. Plus with the braking performance being more realistic I can actually touge these cars far better than WDT cars... By this i mean I spend less time (but still a considerable amount) understeering or launching cars off the track and out of the maps boundaries.

    • @TandemWithFlo
      @TandemWithFlo ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jontrout2010 i would disagree there, with one condition. If the car works against you, then fix it. Breaking is important especially when you lock the fronts all the time. Every irl driver prefers different type of braking. Steering also needs to be smooth lock to lock, but most cars have that ok. Break power /balance, tyre pressure, and boost, are a must to setup. Arb's also

    • @JankyDrift
      @JankyDrift  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@jontrout2010 I would say as a beginner you don't really know enough about what to expect from a drift car to understand the implications of changing parts of the tune, so that's not terrible advice to follow. The brakes locking up probably goes along with the tires being a little too slippery. One of the things you can definitely play around with in the beginning is tire pressure. Try dropping it 5psi across the board for WDTS and see if you can tell how that affects handling.

    after 700hrs under the belt, pretty agree....but as you sad at the end - A LOT of 'liking' depends what wheel are you using. Cars like Gravys are good for logi/thrust level. And are fun for sure. You sad right, that good setuped drift cars should be easy to drive, and I'm with it 101% after chasing the driveability in my IRL cars. Cars like Tsujis, Nstyles and DWGs are fun as hell, but with more experiance and faster wheel. Other way you have to baby the transision, which takes off the fun. Fumi's BMW's are literally like mine 3.0 E46 - planted and easy. Good shit overall and fun montage :)

      I'm not entirely sure how aero works in AC and I have not looked at DWG files, but it could be the cars do not have enough drag when going sideways and they have compensated that with tire values. I would imagine in real life all that air pushing against the side of the car helps to keep the rear stable at moderate speeds and it is not only about mechanical grip. Watch some 160km/h entries up close and it is crazy how much air the cars displace.
      However, the point is that you can end up with a car that feels fairly realistic when going sideways, but laps the track way quicker than it should. Basically the tires can handle higher cornering loads than they should, because they have tried to get the correct feeling mostly from the tires. Even though it should be tires + drag. Maybe. Who knows. I have no idea what I'm talking about.
      Just some thoughts.
