It was my privilege to meet the Great Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge at one of their concerts. No airs or attitudes, just down to earth gentlemen. Something terribly wrong with them not being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So thankful there is a venue to watch whenever I need a smile or pat on the back.

I was only 17 when they were together before I went to Vietnam and NEVER forgot them, the Classics IV and the Spiral Staircase. I’ll never forget any of them after 3 years in the ARMY 2 of which hospitalized for my bad wounds and taking comfort in music like this along with my transistor radio after 28myears as a cop here in NY.

Nicholas, I hope you're doing well. I always feel awkward saying the usual "thank you for you're service". It's not enough for what you went thru. I can only imagine being severely wounded in that place and spending two years hospitalized. I don't know you but you have my sincere respect. We will never let this become another forgotten war.

Vocals that wrap around the notes like satin around a beautiful woman’s body. Johnny’s voice never disappointed and the various members of his vocal ensembles were up to the task of singing with a master. Add to that great arrangements and musicians and you get some of the greatest performances in vocal history. Never mind a street in Staten Island, the street in front of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should be named “Johnny Maestro Boulevard” RIP Johnny and thank you for leaving such great music.

A nod also to the late great Tony Romeo, who wrote both sides of the magnificent double A-side single, "Welcome Me Love"/"Blessed Is the Rain". He is best known for "I Think I Love You" by the Partridge Family and "I'm Gonna Make You Mine" by Lou Christie. Johnny's voice is beautiful and perfect for those gorgeous songs. I especially love "Welcome Me Love".

When I was 18 years old in 1969 and these songs were out, I didn’t really appreciate the lyrics like I do now. Especially Blessed is the Rain. What great lyrics and harmony!!
