These effectively have an anti lag system. When your in sport and you lift off to change gear the turbo is kept spinning so your straight back on the boil. Makes these cars keep on the go excellently.
Great to see you liked it

Hence why it feels so smooth and not having to wait for boost 😆 luv it! Thanks for watching mate!

Ford really understand making a hot hatch. The modern person just lost the mechanical connection a human can have with a vehicle. With the need for tech and comfort rising, the Germans took the market. But honestly, as reliably and fun factor as well as driving engagement is more important to me, I will always choose the ST.

Means so much to hear that mate, every Sunday there’s a video lined up! Have changed my mindset about it all too, so mainly cars that excite and interest me which hopefully comes across in the videos! Have a great afternoon mate!

@@TimWilliamsHD Good to hear we’re keeping you gainfully employed! Definitely look forward to your videos. Always good to see a fellow car nut getting their hands on various sporting models whilst also modifying your own car. Feels like a dying breed with most people simply going out and buying the fastest thing available and then usually crashing it! The appreciation for everything automotive definitely comes through and good you don’t take yourself too seriously. Missing the old cheese and bread line though! 🤣🫡👍🏼

Nicely put Tim. Many grew up on Fords. Ford renowned for their hot hatches. But sat at the traffic lights or jams, the BMWs, Audis, Mercedes etc, put it at the back of the queue. Sadly. Many lads would choose the VW hot hatches over the Ford…due to German build quality.

The way you analyse the car you given off vibes of a younger Roy Reed/ Mat Watson. Keep grinding my brother and the sky is the limit for you.

FYI - the more you driver the ST the smoother the manual becomes. The gearbox is silent after a thousand km.
Generally speaking this car also gets better the more you own it, its incredibly fun. Daily its firm, but completely liveable and on the highway its bad on fuel at all.
Love this car, its a lovely place to be, plenty of gadgets and tech to keep you satisifed. The short steering rack is just phonemonal. Last hot hatch of its kind.

Cheers Tim. Really enjoyed the video. I’ve been considering getting one of these (I had one of the original ones about 15 years ago…in orange!) and have been considering either brand new or second hand. If brand new, would you definitely spec the Track Pack option or save the dosh? I live in a place with very twisty roads, so I’m sure it would enhance the driving enjoyment, but I was wondering of it’s a noticeable jump in handling? Thanks!

Good video and great review. Had mine from new a 2020 Mk4 St. Couple of things, understeer. There is some lift off understeer to be expected, but she really likes to go quick out of corners, the eLSD just grips and grips the more you push it. A lot of us, me included, have the Mountune M330 so on the box 330PS and 515NM. Makes the car. 🙂
Regards the looks I prefer my pre-facelift Mk4 over this one. She didn't look aggressive enough, but moreover I wanted to balance all the black from the waistline up (I have the pan roof), so I put Maxton, splitter skirts and diffuser on. Not to everyone's taste, but I think it it does the job.

    • @TimWilliamsHD
      @TimWilliamsHD  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Can’t definitely see the softness compared to previous gen! A little tune would be good to test! Front end grip seems okay, I assume you’d need right settings and alignment to get the best out of it also…

Welcome to the Blue Oval club 🙈
It's a great package, although being a big Ford fanboy - I preferred the i30N for hot hatch rawness & character, especially with the DCT and of course, the individual mode as the i30N ride in 'N' is dog poo
    Wicked video mate!

Hey Tim. Very good review exactly on point. I have 2020 St and now i just love it. First when i bought it i wasnt so satisfied with car becouse in my opinion it lacks a little bit of sound and rawnes like Focus Rs mk3 or i30n if you understand me. But after 2 years and with aftermarket exhaust, lowering springs (i have normal suspension not track pack) it is very reliable, fun and cheap for maintenance daily car for me. Like you said it has clunky gearbox but it is part of the soul in this car. Please if you can go and do a review with a ST with Mountune, Dreamscience or Laird performance stage 1 on it (330 hp and more). I want to hear your opinion on stage 1 maped Focus St mk4. Thank you for review

I don’t understand why they still make 2.3 liter engines in 2023? And manuals are always more fun like you said. I had to switch to automatic gears because my left leg is to disabled to use a clutch but I still miss it, even after 4 years.

Agree with most of what Tim says
I have a puma st which odd time mainly 2nd gear isn’t the best noise
Also like Tim says should be able to configure individual modes
The steering can be a bit to direct on bumpy b rds
