In America right now like he said used bikes are crazy, they loose atleast 50% of the retail price right after you buy it, I see all kinds of nice bikes for real cheap on Facebook marketplace
It’s crazy where the market is. I can’t believe I bought alloy bike for 3500 in 2021 when only three years later someone can get a better equipped carbon bike for half of that
Never buy a carbon bike second hand. Although there are a number of decent trustworthy sellers. Most carbon framed bikes I looked at have enough questionable surface damage to sink the deal, especially with no factory warranty. In my personal bike hunting, I have never seen a top-notch condition carbon frame for more than a grand off the retail price even after a few years of purchase. All that have been listed for 50% percent or more off the msrp price have had questionable issues.
I pulled at least four dents out of my Trail Wide rear rim, I even bought a Wolf Tooth tool just for doing that. It keeps on trucking. No air loss. Bike looks sweet but that front brake hose looks like it'll rub the head tube! It's criminal where the used market is at right now but it's a buyers market and someone is getting a killer deal right there!

For the rim ding, I would either use a blunt chisel to go in the bead slot for accuracy or a 2 by 4 piece of wood across the affected are and hammer against the wood block until it is straight, when I did this for my rear rim it left little to no evidence
I keep a close eye on the market in the pnw and I think you’re pretty close on price. Probably end up with 15-16. Which is a great deal. Someone will get a solid bike. With new bikes being so cheap right now it’s really driven down the used. Couple that with the slow economy and it’s tough. Personally think we’ll see some extra crazy deals new and used come November
I was just in the USA last week and I cant believe how expensive some food is compared to Canada now factoring in exchange rate since i visited last in 2019.

Depends on your brakes. The SRAM levers have that option. I purchased two SRAM ultimate kits and it came with the adapters. You can also do it with some higher level Shimano brakes. I bought a Wolftooth adapter for Shimano lever to SRAM shifter and that was pretty pricey

Yeah I would not try it Evan bending it back to where it was before running the risk of breaking part of the rim, just not worth taking, and am loving this channel more.
Evan i would have bought that bike in a heart beat. Dont list it for $1800 you shouldn't have said that because thats what people are now aiming for unless you get a bid war lol. $2200 is a fair price. I'd buy it myself but i bought the new 2024 YT jeffsy core 3. I like the new geo compared to the previous model. But still a sick bike. Id auction the YT too. Lol
@@EvansMTBSaga at the end of it, are you going to release the numbers? I'm curious to see how many tickets sold, their fee, and if it was profitable, I love me a good raffle
170s are fine for me. I raced BMX and trained on 180mm cranks for many years. So my neurologic pathway for pedaling has been developed. So sometimes with 165s, my muscles will still be pushing down the pedal when the upstroke starts and it hurts for a second 😂
@@EvansMTBSaga Oh now it makes sense! I was wondering why it just hanging there so precariously and not rolling away! And on second view I can see it clearly. I had the video on low resolution to save data!

Thanks for the support Wes! I received a bottle of Pellicare cleaning spray, but I ran out. So I added some dish soap and water in the bottle and thats what I use 😂
What Evan meant was that he got the 165 cranks because everyone now wants shorter cranks. But for Evan, 165 cranks don't suit him and likes his cranks longer.
Wow, that awesome bike for just 800? In my country it would cost at least 2k. I would buy it from you but my parent dont allow me to buy bikes from other countries 😢
Hey Evan, recently i have been interested in mountain biking and am looking to get my first hard tail. I am looking at a specialized rockhopper elite. Just wondering if that was a good pick for the price and just wanted to say thanks for inspiring me and i have come a long ways. Thanks!!!
@@EvansMTBSaga I'm not, but I totally understand your desire to sell it locally and not ship. If it doesn't sell and you become willing to ship, I'd definitely buy it.
Crazy tough to sell in this market. I’m selling my stumpy evo expert I rode a total of 20 miles lol. I paid 6k and now I’m having trouble selling even though I’m well under the current new price of 4600. I’d put in for the raffle but unsure about s4 as I’ve always ridden s5. Currently looking for something that pedals better and I’ve heard from a few locals that the 15 pedals better than even the regular stumpy. If I can’t sell my Evo then I’ll build mine up with the same frame you’re selling. If s4 isn’t too small I’ll be in the raffle lol. Do you find it easy to sell in the bentonville area? I’m in the Philly area and the market is DEAD.

I'd recommend demoing an expensive bike when you get a chance. A $10k bike will feel a lot different than an $1800 bike. As for profit margins, well thats up to the market and what consumers will spend
Volume is the biggest factor IMO. A motorcycle brand might sell millions of motorcycles every year, when you add up all their models (Honda sold 18.7 million last year). These MTB manufacturers might sell a couple thousand, depending on the brand. The smaller brands might sell a few hundred. The more you make of something, the cheaper each piece is. Especially when you own the factories for each piece. You have vertical integration, and control the whole process. An expensive MTB is utilising components from much smaller companies, with much less volume, and they’re top of the line parts, so the luxury tax is also a factor. Each single component is expensive. The volume is small. And profit needs to be made. Marketing needs to be done. Testing needs to be done. Then you need to ship them worldwide, and create a support network of some kind. It all adds up.
@@MarioGoatse actually not, bicycles sell higher volumes than motorcycles. Motorcycle brands these days are happy to sell like double figures of a bike model in an european country. Just because one brand like honda sells millions of bikes where most of them are cheap bikes in asia dont really carry the weight in our discussion.
@@Pillokun We’re talking about YT here. They sell a few thousand every year. They don’t make any of the comments except the frame. You can’t compare the entire bicycle industry to single boutique brands. Besides a cheap bicycle is $250 if you want to compare mass volume cheap products. It’s like asking why an exhaust from a boutique company for a Ducati can be $5000 when “brands in Asia make them for $200”. Or why is a Ferrari $900,000 when a Ford is $60,000.
Man considering parts you put on bike, it’s almost crime to sell it for less than 2500$, at least that is how much it would have cost where I live.
