"we are not gonna use the same comedy of the old saints rows cause it could offend people" said the developers, without even realising their own game is what offends people
Whenever a developer/publisher is attacking the fans, it’s a sign that tells me not to support the game. I don’t understand why they think they’ll sell millions of copies being disrespectful
REALLY, like, have they NOT learned from the Ghostbusters 2016 debacle? Or from "The Last Jedi"? That attacking fans of a franchise for not liking the latest installment is virtually a DEATH SENTENCE for said installment?
I am curious why developers are so bad these times. I am working on an indie project with UE5 and i will be ashamed to release game in state like SR. I rather delay release than release unfinished game.
It's just soulless Western studios like Volition, EA, Activision, etc. Say what you want about Nintendo, but their games are always great and well polished. Same goes for Capcom, Konami (when they actually made games), and Namco. Japanese studios actually give a damn about their games being good.
devs getting angry at the fans is like going to your favorite pizza place and getting served with salad. then getting slapped by the waiter when you complained that it's not what you ordered.
Yeah. You should just be happy that you got anything in the first place. They are entitled to your money and whatever they give you is optional luxury.
One would think they would know better from the days of Phil Fish, but if anything the only thing they learned from him is being an annoying little twerp that hates their fanbase with open contempt.
@@crimsondynamo615 To be fair with AAA games it's rarely the actual devs doing that. Studios have marketing teams running social media, the guy programming NPC behavior is too busy programming NPC behavior to be doing marketing. When a AAA game is bad it's almost ways the fault of executives interfering with the creative process and when game trailers are bad it's because of the marketing team.
Yup sounds about as common as it gets for basic a** game directors that just came outta garde school thinking they gotta an A on their SATs so they have nothing left to learn
The idea that someone would start a criminal empire that murders hundreds of people and still remain beholden to student loan debt is beyond silly in a game full of nonsensical silliness.
Yeah that is the most ridiculous part why are you paying your student loans if you're killing people you're willing to kill innocent people in cops what does it matter
The thing is, that idea could have been funny if they just ran with some level of absurdity and didn't make it so "in your face". Like, your character takes a single painting class to unlock new car paint jobs? That costs $50,000 right there. Or take a metalworking class to get a gun upgrade? Well that's a $100,000, doesn't matter if you only took one or two classes. Have you character make a quip about how B.S that is before going off to rob a bank to pay it off, and that is it. You get a point across while telling a joke that has the potential to be semi-funny without over staying its welcome.
As a long time Saints Row fan, this hurts. SR2 is one of my favorite games of all time and I love it even more than all GTA games combined. I wish the games would just go back to their roots.
Remember, customers saw all these problems ahead of time and warned the creators. The creators then refused to fix anything-- they just attacked the buyers. Volition knew it was bad, and it didn't even try to make a decent game. Volition just wanted your money and expected you to give it away.
It's their blatant narcissism that makes them fuck up everytime. As long as they treat their customers like amoeba, nothing will change. It's actually not that hard to make gamers happy. Just listen to them.. It will make the game better and gamers happier.
That's why they released on epic. Get as much hype as possible, get epic to give you a good sales guarantee number, and then dump a game that just barely avoids a lawsuit.
@@TurtleSauceGaming Not even good sales numbers, EPIC foots most of the bill for the exclusivity so they don't even need to try. From my understanding of it at least.
@@NEEDbacon I'm sure some do try, and some end up outselling Epic's expectations and not getting any money. Like Borderlands 3 probably did well, but ultimately, this will end the launcher
As someone who played through all the Saints Row games in late 2018 to early 2019, I was disgusted at how Volition treated their own fans and how they've destroyed their own creation. I hope they enjoy the massive failure they have now with no one else to blame.
the truly sad part about this is that GTA 6 is still years away, this could have been the game that redefined Saints Row (as a reboot should) and have it finally step out of GTAs shadow while bringing in a new generation of fans and finally giving GTA and Rockstar some competition, but instead they decided to take zero risks and made the worst Saints Row game which will probably kill the series.
@@gabrielgiron4273 Yea, I know. Given the direction these fools have been going to appeal to this new generation and PC world we live in, I'm not very hopeful. Aiming for backlash would be the correct move. Pushing the envelope far enough to be able to back lawsuits like they did in the past. And not just sell out. The cash grab its gonna be would be alright then. Considering there would be a reason to pay for their lawsuits.
I just wanted a remaster of Saints Row 2. Now the series is screwed. I remember being so damn hyped for a new Saints Row game, and then I seen the trailer...
The response those devs gave during the first trailer when fans of this franchise weren't happy with the direction of this game, that it wasn't very "Saints Row" like really rubbed me the wrong way. It's that kind of ignorance, neglect, and downright terrible business decisions to spit in the faces of fans that truly makes me happy this game flopped massively. You get what you fucking deserve!!!
I spent the better part of an hour customizing my character, as I usually do when playing a game with a character creator- The next time I was loaded into the customizer, it bugged and exaggerated every feature of his face. And after that, every time I would try to fix it, it somehow got worse. I was literally sitting there with my mouth hung open in disbelief of what I was seeing. He went from a normal looking guy to Botox victim, to Shrek, to an Oblivion orc, to a Minecraft villager. Incredible. Needless to say I refunded.
I encountered few bugs, such as my character standing up while I tried to blast helis with the apc turret, floating objects with no hit detection, this is only a few hours in, tomorrow, there will be no shortage of time, no shortage of bad reviews stopping me, and no shortage of high expectations leading to disappointing reception I know you understand
I could tell it was going to be garbage so luckily I never even bought it in the first place. I didn’t think it was going to be “Millennial TikTok Stereotype/Criminal Mastermind” bad though.
The reboot: "how are we gonna make rent?!!" Meanwhile in SR2: we were beating homeless people to take back the church. (The boss in SR2 is an absolute psycho)

@@SoJackedTack I think I'm the only person on the planet who enjoyed Saint's Row for being a gang crime gang. Not a 'haha funny random stuff' generator. I liked the first one too. I'm the only one who wanted a crime game with dark elements. But they deliver on the stupid, 'haha funny man make funny noise', goofy storyline, and no one likes that either. So I am really confused by it. I get why I don't like it, I don't get why people who wanted that don't like it.
Things I've heard almost EVERY reviewer say about this game: "Buggy and characters spawn in the wrong spots." "Not funny and woke at times." "An AI trained on Twitter wrote this game." "The characters are all unlikeable and the worst written in gaming." "The gameplay is a downgraded, worse version of Saints Row the Third." "The gameplay is boring and the enemies are bullet sponges." "I couldn't finish the game and only made it 15 hours in." "The game becomes repetitive and boring after two hours." "The city is empty and lifeless; more so than any other open world game." "This game has more bugs than _A Bug's Life_ and should be criminal to sell for full price." "There's no non-licensed music in the game, so if you cut it off for streaming, there's no music in the game at all." "Saints Row 2 was the greatest of all time and this game is an embarrassment to the franchise." "This is the worst game of the year." Everyone is right.
Game breaking bugs are one thing, but to complain about characters not being interesting I mean come on, complaining about the “woke” aspect of the game, aren’t all fps games full of bullet sponges these days? Or am wrong or is this call of duty where people like to get shot once and then rage? The biggest thing against this game is it bugs, anything else mentioned by reviewers either got them triggered, bugs can be fixed bad présentions by developers on their part, but to review bomb a game based solely on it claiming to be “woke” is another thing, some of the things you mentioned here other reviewers mentioned complete opposites, the TH-camr also in this video seems to have jumped on the “hate” train to get more views lol, I can definitely call him out on that.
I mean just listen to this TH-camr in full, almost all his critiques are based on the writing, who buys a saints row game for the story? Look at the past 4 games all have gone from gangs to absolute ridiculous aliens that’s just saints row and you can tell either 1 people went in with the exception that we get a GTA like story.
@@awesomedesign7637 Just because you started at Saints Row 3, never played the first two, and enjoy Twitter writing, doesn't mean the rest of us are going to pay $60 for it. You can financially keep Volition afloat if you enjoy it so much, but the rest of us aren't so happy.
What absolutely fascinates me the most about SR22 is that both sides of the fence, those who say SR stopped being good after Saints 2 and those that enjoyed the ride despite the weird turns it kept taking from 3 onwards, both finally agree on something. Volition managed to disappoint OG fans, the "new age" SR fans, people who may have only played 1 game, and those who have never played a SR game. Volition made it very clear they didn't give a rat's ass about the 'legacy,' or whatever you want to call it, that Saints Row had. Looking at it I can't even tell who the target demographic is. I really wanted this game to succeed despite the prelaunch backlash because I love this series, but damn, this is really how the Saints die, isn't it?
I love SR3 so much, but to me everything went downhill right after that - SR4 was supposed to be merely DLC for SR3, GOoH was supposed to be DLC for SR4. they're fun to a certain extent but strayed too far from what SR used to be. also, THQ going under, Agents of Mayhem being developed along with a new engine and selling not well, layoffs after its failure... I didn't have high expectations for SR2022 and it seems it might put a franchise on hold indefinitely. won't be surprised if it will.
You can't tell who the target demo is because there isn't one. Companies think that tHe KiDs will like garbage like this lol, they either did zero focus testing or just rolled with it because they knew the release would be awful
Yes, because this is how every beloved franchise from back then chooses to die. They all planned a mass suicide by releasing absolute dogshit after another

"Let people have fun". Yeah, let people have fun by *making a decent game* . I find it odd how there were so many great games in the age of hardware and size limitations, yet now the possibilities are endless, and developers put out totally crap games.

VR, 4K resolution, GPU's and CPU's that are getting better and better at handling bigger loads no problem, etc. The problem is, these devs keep misusing the tech being made available to them to make shitty remakes of older, better games (that were also made to look like kid's cartoons for some reason idk why modern devs do that) that had to deal with PS3 and *Xbox 360 specs*. Just because there are still limitations now doesn't make this okay.

Fun fact, in sr2, you can gamble in the casinos. Go to the casino you went to in the ronin mission and you can use the machines. Somehow a game from 2008 has more than one from 2022.
After years without a new saints row, this is what fans get, it's basically a spit, slap, and kick in the face to them, and treat their fans like filthy dogs, this studio or company gets what they deserve
Sad how even in Japan, ryu ga gotoku or the yakuza series, was able to incorporate a lot of these open world mini games, to the point that every alley you go can has a lot more and unexpected events to occur. This was done years ago, and yakuza 7 is literrally a huge open world RPG game filled with hidden questlines. They literally have leagues to surpass if they want to make a good game at this point and all you have to do is to add more.
Yakuza became wackier, but it didn't lose sight of itself. The story is still a serious crime drama, even if Kiryu gets into wacky situations in his daily routine and everything is so over-the-top. The game respects him. It just tries to make everything feel impactful even if it is mundane (answering the phone). It tries to make the player feel powerful even if you can't cross a line (like throwing a transformer on a guy, but not actually killling him). It values the player's experience. Kiryu doesn't make cringe jokes before snapping a guy's neck to pay rent in a new town. In a way, it is like Saints Row 2 having a gritty story that makes you feel badass, but lets you have fun on side missions. Neither game grinds to a halt to offer mediocre "comedy" when you would rather be doing something else-- especially if it comes at the expense of the story. Even the reboot did it well. Ichiban is a goofy guy by nature, but he takes his job seriously and won't compromise it. He might still enjoy the little things and make light of the situation, but it is out of gratitude rather than trying to make him hip and irreverent. Even his friends respect the situation even if they try to remain hopeful (Adachu appreciates the irony of his situation, but he doesn't exist solely to quip). Yakuza: Like a Dragon has passion, something SR22 lacks. Again, it wants you to feel good. It wants you to feel like Ichiban's friend, and friends help each other in many ways. Imagine if Ichiban became a criminal because Tokyo's rent was expensive, not because he strives to be honorable like the man he admires. Imagine he almost dies for Arakawa because he needs to pay off his loans and is essentially a slave rather than returning the favor for his savior and striving to do right by others even if society deems his methods unorthodox. Now the game disregards your enjoyment just because the writer wanted to try... something.
It's funny you mention Yakuza because I always thought that's the game the rebooted Saints Row should have looked to when designing the game. The Saints Row fan base is divided into two camps: the ones who like the more serious entries, SR1 and SR2 and the ones that like the more goofy entries, SR3 and SR4. Yakuza shows how you can make a game that would please both camps. It's one part serious crime drama and one part silly, over-the-top side activities. The stark contrast between these two things is what gives Yakuza such a strong identity and a strong identity is something Saints Row has always lacked.
@@nugsboodlepoo it's also because the ryu ga gotoku team and Japanese developers as a whole have the balls to put in stuff that woke western developers wouldn't dare to any more. And this is the reason why I have given up on western made games save for a select few
Gat has been one of the best characters in gaming history in my eyes. He's been a fucking powerhouse and a joker through it all. The characters in this new saints, johnny would have broke their necks. Its just not the same as it should have been. Rebooting was the dangerous part, and honestly I would have prefered a remaster of the first 2
Source codes, does nobody understand THQ (not THQ Nordic, completely different) went bankrupt in 2013, how do you expect another Mike Watson to scour for SR1 source code, then re use it to make the PS3, Wii, and PC ports? Then use it again to make the remasters for PS5, XSX/XSS, and pc, add XB1 and PS4 if they can test how they fare against a graphically intense game like both remasters
The reality is though, Gat and all the others were big losers. Younger people are more likely to join and/or form gangs. If you’re still trying to join gangs do gang activities at all you’re a loser, but especially if you’re older and still try to partake.
Considering how that game has been in purgatory for its entire existence, maybe it’s meant to be a punishment that prevents that writer from ever actually working on another game again
Or or or we know how to enjoy things and not spread hate like a bunch of insecure losers? Maybe pick up a controller and have fun instead of spewing bullshit on the internet
I’ve noticed that ever since TLOU2 came out, people have started acting like you HAVE to play a game in order to figure out if you like it or not… As if the internet doesn’t exist and that they’ve never looked up footage to judge a game by. 9:25 - 9:38 Another cool thing about the in game gambling system of GTA SA is that you could actually get in debt if you keep on losing badly in the casinos. Your money counter will turn red and negative and CJ will get some unqiue phone calls from a debt collector. He would call you 3 times on most occasion. First call is just a reminder, second call is a small warning and third call is a "friendly" visit from the debt collector's hit and run party. Never seen something like this in any other open world game where casinos are present.
The funny thing about that is that Saints Row 1 (a game that came out in 2006, 16 years ago!) had this mechanic where if you got into debt, a debt collector would call you and give you warnings, then eventually send a hit squad out for you. Very similar to what GTA SA had. Things like this is really what made Saints Row great but to expect something like this in the reboot is like... nope. Never gonna happen. Thats the problem with people of today spinless. If everyone quit that company, they would've had no choice but to accept to listen and follow the devs goals for the game, those goals align with the fans needs and some wants.

We should really implement a "worst game of the year" award. That way there's some incentive to at least make a mediocre game. The only sad part about it is that this award would be more competitive than all the others combined
From what I was able to dig up, before contract bonuses, hazard pay, and other sorts of additional compensation, the average PMC operator can expect on average to make between $38,000 in their first year on the low end of averages, up to $90,000 in their first year on the high end of averages, as well as making something like $120,000+ with more years of continued service. Again, that's BEFORE bonuses and extra compensation. So even if the PC of this game got stiffed on a bonus, that salary says that yes, they can easily make rent.

You know... After you mentioned the Game Awards joke, I think they should go through with that idea. "Worst AAA Goty." Maybe the bad press will "inspire" publishers and developers into puting forth a better effort. Of course, any press can be good press to some... But I would like to believe negative word of mouth will dissuade potential consumers, thus giving even the slightest bit of extra risk to launching a terrible, broken mess of a game.
Neat idea, but it would never fly with the sponsors of the event. That's why you'll only ever see independent outlets and creators bashing big releases - those from the big powerful companies
@@olic22 I actually considered that, and you are right. Big publishers have their hands in a lot of pies in the industry, likely including the Game Awards' sponsors. I can imagine it now: A big company pulls out the "Bullying card" as the reasoning to reject the idea. Even though all they have to do is make a good product. Although I think it would do good for the industry by adding additional incentive towards making and releasing good, functioning titles, I'm well aware of it just being a silly idea.
There are plenty of rating sites that hammer in bad games, the fact people are rating it doesn't mean people don't buy it they can see the sales numbers themselves. Sometimes the bad press doesn't even reach their core audience like sports games or gambling P2W projects that hook people in then slowly improve to a playable state after everyone forgot they exist

But after watching this, I can no longer be in denial... They wasted our time looking forward to another Saints Row... Here goes to waiting some more years if they make a new one...
I feel like there's the secret achievement challenge/tradition popularized among gaming companies to ruin their game franchise' reputation, lifespan, and their fanbase' respect in general.
As silly as that sounds, that's definitely what it feels like lately. The way they behave and the products they put out, they could save a lot of time, effort, and resources not putting out anything at all.
The point you made at the end of this video is very poignant and I think a message that a lot of dev studios need to understand. This was a game with a great title history and name recognition. If they had taken the time and had the passion to create a fun and meaningful product here and marketed it accordingly It could have been a huge critical and financial success much in the way rockstars initial releases are. Which begs the questions, do these people making six figures a year not understand that? Did they not play the older titles in the franchise and their direct competitors games ( even ones from years ago) and then play the new saints row back to back and understand its a far inferior product? I simply don’t see how thats possible which leads me to believe this was the intent (and is the intent of a lot of companies nowadays) all along. Instead of investing time and resources into creating an awesome gameplay experience which will grasp user’s attention for years to come they rather release a mediocre piece of garbage for a quick little cash grab and then blame the consumer for it’s failure. Its scary to see how this laziness and greed is consuming the industry and as a lifelong gamer i’m concerned as to the direction of gaming in general.
Bioware, dice, obsidian, inxile, blizard, ubisoft, volition, konami, sqaure enix - those gaming companies, that i can currently remember, that not only turned their backs on gamers (as almost everyone did, +activision, ea, 2k, tencent), but also blamed gamers for their failures.
You said exactly what I've been saying about this game. Everything about it feels outdated and near to broken. It's like Saints Row 3 with more amount of issues. And the people that make an attempt to defend it just have excuses and are just being dismissive to the problems in Saints Row 2022.
The original Saints Row was one of the games I grew up with on my Xbox360, along with AC2 and CoD2. Just as a rhetorical device, imagine Saints Row 2022 had 2 amazing mechanics the entire game was based on, and then it had to be completely remade because they found out that those are patented mechanics that can't be licensed.
I remember The Godfather and Scarface: The World is Yours games for PS2, full of content with hundreds of hours and enjoyed them as much as every GTA on the console. Sucks that the planned Scarface sequel to the one in PS2 was cancelled internally by Activision, and last I remember from Godfather games is the one in PS3, which I thought was ok but nowhere as good as the PS2 iteration. I miss camping in a bank for hours in Scarface TWIY when you reach the maximum cop pursuit level, the game turns black and white and cops were as strong as a tank, or the island in the entirely different second map which had an island that spawned an enemy that made you rich by camping him behind a rock. And Godfather was so fun to buy properties, hidden powerful weapon upgrades and open safes in dozens and dozens of shops in the game. Actual underrated masterpieces
To me, the interviews and behavior of the devs whenever first critics that, as hasty as they were, had some good reasons for their concerns already turned me completely off and made me abandon any idea to buy this game. They didn't care about the game, the characters that made the game what it was and its fans. So, why would any fan of SR with a bit of self-respect buy this game after being told that they're not the intended audience? They made their bed, now it feels good to see them trying to sleep in it.
If you ask me, it’s the modern bait and switch. The franchise has been bitten by a zombie, and what you loved is no more. It’s now a zombie game, made by zombies for other zombies.
I held off on watching this until I finished it. You are absolutely, 100% correct. I was defending it as a mid game until, all of a sudden, it was over. That PISSED ME OFF. There was no depth, no heart, repetitive gameplay, the story was garbage. I plan on making my first ever review just to rant about this game.
These companies gotta realize they are competing against every other game out (old and new) and the internet (tiktok, TH-cam, IG, etc) for our interest and attention. Anything they make that's even kinda boring and doesn't squeeze enough dopamine compared to those things is going to get shit on and put down
I always enjoyed Saints Row, including the 3 a 4. I liked it even more than GTA games simply because of the over-the-top humour. Sometimes, I just needed something that flips off realism. However, from what I've seen so far from the latest game (haven't played it, yet) it just falls down with the cynical corporate calculations of what is statistically good for the targeted audience. I'm sure, at some point, new creative people will come with ideas they made out of love of creativity rather than the financial calculations... it's like a cycle: start fresh with ideas and standards, get greedy, sacrificing quality for profits, and fall into history. At least, I hope it does function that way...
@They're trying to weaponize it Okay, I see your point. Still, SR IV had some of the charm in it that I have yet to see in the current one. The characters from previous installments were still there, the antagonist had a sophisticated charm, the progress in story between installments did get more severe in scope (destruction of the whole planet Earth), which fits with the overall ridiculous vibe of SR... I dare say it was flawed, but not as much as the current SR. Feel free to disagree with my opinion; no hard feelings.
@They're trying to weaponize it huh? I can easily say 4 was better than this crap. I didn't enjoy the story as much as the previous games but the gameplay was chaotic fun. Running super fast, causing huge explosion by jumping really high, fun weapons like the Dubstep gun. They even had some interesting levels like at one point, I think you get sent to a beat em up game.
the "humor" alone in this game made me fucking reciol insides myself. Then there is the fact you can't loot/shoot gun shop owners, humor has being dialed way back not to OFFEND anyone etc. I give this game 3-4 months before getting an 40-60% mark down. Even then that may only sell 4-5 more units.
Even if this game got put on Gamepass I'm not sure I could bring myself to play it. It just looks so *bad* . And that hurts so much to say about a Saints Row game. I never liked SR4, but even with that I dont think I could look at it go, "man, this is just trash." in the way I can for 2022.
@@someoneyoudontknow6083 i’d definitely try it if it got on game pass, but only to then play 3 after to remind myself why i love the series. It’s a damn shame they may have killed it completely
i’m suprised anyone had high expectations for this game. as soon as i saw the trailer i knew they had already ruined an already failing franchise (Edit: i’m glad this is a respected take)
i don't quite understand it either. there were people malding in the comments of the trailer going "NOOOO THIS IS GONNA BE A GOOD GAME" were those people like. mentally sound?
Im surprised to see anyone still defend this franchise. And Im a long time fan of the series. SR4 was fun but it wasn't saints row. This new game should have made saints row good again and they FAILED to do that. The franchise is dead now.
Its almost as if, this is all just one big conspiracy amongst all Triple A gaming company to make shitty releases. I mean, its pretty much across the board at this point. Just about every game that comes out now is absolute trash
The first time I’ve genuinely rooted for a game to fail. They had the easiest slam dunk of all time by making a semi realistic semi silly gang game, like a hybrid of the first two games. But they completely missed the mark and were very arrogant about it. I can’t even fathom how they saw the characters, read the dialogue and thought this game would be good in any capacity.
It’s really sad to see saints Row become this abomination, the first second, and third are pretty well made and always made me smile but this remake seriously makes me sad
9:48 Didn't they patent the Nemesis system to stop anyone except for them using it? It was difficult to believe they were allowed to do that, if Space Invaders was allowed to patent the 'Difficulty Curve' because they did it first, things would be very different for video games. 12:38
They put a patent on it but Ubisoft found a work around with the Mercenary/Phylakes/Zealots system in the New AC games. 2025 the Patent will be up maybe other games can use it
@@lewisphelan6819 Well it's pretty complex, there is a good video about it but basically. There is this hierarchy system of evil monsters which you have to beat. You can help other smaller monster take the place of current monsters so that they will help you in the future. The enemies remember you, the decision you take have a lot of impact, each monster has different set of weakness that needs to be exploited to defeat them, etc.
Lots of people don't look too favourably on it but I loved Saints Row IV, it still had that wild, off the wall tone that made saints row great. From the moment I saw this reboot revealed I was skeptical and now that it has been released I'm disappointed but not surprised to see that it has somewhat predictably lost it's soul. Yet another once great franchise swallowed up, sanded down and spat back out in a soulless fashion into the homogeneous mass that is big budget open world games. Quickly cobbled together by the triple A gaming overlords so they can have their next quick payday.
4 was ok, but shouldn't have been a Saints Row game, the real Saints Row is 1 and 2, after that, they shouldn't have been called Saints Row, 4 would have had a better response if it were called something totally different, the original Saints Row players would only call 1 and 2 Saints Row, anything after 2 is definitely not what we would call Saints Row.
I’ll say it, 4 was a lot of the mindless fun put together, dialed up to 11 and its just great to roam around and play. It is pretty mid but at least its more satisfying than most open world games that have come out recently.
While 4 wasn't great, it managed to make me have fun for a decent portion of the game. And while i didn't laugh out loud at any of the jokes or whatever else, i did enjoy the campiness of it
@@jonatanrobledo9812 started playing it for the first time last month and sprinting into aliens, instakilling them with a running melee is a guilty pleasure
Tripple A is just another word for dog shit at this point. Everything that was "great" about any franchise is now just not there. Gone because game companies dont care about making a good game. Instead they care more about making money. They dont care about putting out buggy half baked unfinished mess.
@@dragoncpu2226 can you say the same about Rockstar? People lamented Red Dead Redemption 2 because they added too many features and mechanics. AAA just means they have access to boat loads of capital and resources/ have a lot of investors.
@@dragoncpu2226 The really demented thing is that some of the most predatory gatcha-type games at this point provide more fresh content and gameplay than these titles. We just wanted another Saints row game with the same style as Saints row 1 and Saints row 2. A dark and serious tone with natural funny (believable) humor... :(
Fun fact about the game: if you go into the credits, there are two categories reserved for moderators of the saints row’s Reddit and discord server, I’m not joking.
I herd terrible things from those two shitty social media from the SR team alone. Also within like 5 or 10+ years it wouldn't even be there anymore or just heavily inactive that might as well write it off as end of life.
I miss the days of developers making games for fun, enjoyment, and crafting memories. Now we live in the age of making games for money, political correctness, and pleasing the game journalists rather than the fanbase.

Apparently the writers are so disconnected from being poor they don't even realize you can get a whole damn microwave for 100 bucks at Walmart. A $35 waffle maker is what I'd expect a half decent one to be...
Honestly heartbreaking and mind boggling to see developers take a such massive dumpy on franchises that have carried them for so many years, some of the game releases in the past 5 years have managed to kill more of my childhood than my fathers physical abuse ever did growing up, which personally just makes my blood boil.
I would bet a lot of the original devs and writers left and just a company with buisiness left. One of the founders is still there as a GM but yeah. Studio is dead.
When the fanbase told them that the game didn't look like anything anyone wanted, they lashed out and said you can't judge it without playing it. Here we are, and the game is exactly how it looked. And the 10 fans of the game are lashing out and sending death threats to everyone for "exaggerated" complaints.
I hope to god that videogame companies finally take a hint and stop with these half-assed demakes of games. Too many franchises have been permanently ruined because of this shit and its getting tiring.
@Chief Ani Wah Yah even then, i dont think it would fix things, we would need literal gaming laws that state you have to release a game in a stable and less buggy state. Besides, there are people that will play a game riddled with bugs and say it wasnt that bad. i enjoyed it besides the game crashing 90 times!
@Chief Ani Wah Yah just don't fucking buy the game ever, pirate the shit out of it if you want to experience this garbage. I'm never buying it and no one else is, only the extremely casual fanbase. Remember what happened to cyberpunk 2077. Except cyberpunk actually had a good game underneath all the bugs. Volition is on my no buy list from now on.
It was never GTA but as a clone where you can do wacky stuff and build up a gang based on priests and church architecture it's cool. SR 3 was maybe too random for the sake of it but decent and an upgrade in the mundane parts of 2, I don't think anyone thought much of SR 4. Now it sounds like people are just tired of it or the team set to reboot it weren't able to make it interesting. SR2 is dated but I remember some great cutscenes from fun to dramatic. Even 3 had some moments even if I'd say it's a downgrade. I think it should start as deadbeats trying to rob convenience stores for rent to robbing Fort Knox to pay off the space mafia or rob a convenience store after inflation in this one town goes through the roof. I don't even mind the casual feel since the game is supposed to be fun but maybe give them more character or have more going on in a scene to make it more dynamic.
Honestly, a lot of people liked SR4 if you go in not looking for a Saints Row game. It really wasn't one, because it literally wasn't. It was a DLC that got so big they decided to release it as a full product instead. It was unashamedly just dumb fun throwing super powers and jumping around, if that was what you were looking for. That being said, Saint's Row really needed to rein itself in a bit and take itself back to something more what it was. Not... this.
His whole argument is not valid to me the second he had to mention the game experience is like having sex with a pencil sharpener and flipping dog shit, that's so dumb and so irrelevant, this guy's channel should be called theirrelerantgamer lol
Saints Row up to the last one: Hardcore, full-time, goofy-ass gangsters Saints Row 2022: Part-time criminals, with apparently billions in student debt.
I know not everyone played SR1 cause it's stuck on the 360. But you wanna know how the Playa gets started in that? By accidently being near a three way shoot out, where effectively nobody gangsters are like "Hey, shit's fucked and you should join us. Drop by the church if you're interested." And the man who would go on to take over Stillwater TWICE, started as a passerby in a shithole town. Meanwhile in Reboot land, everyone is apparently part of every other gang already like it's some 9-5. Like you said, Part-Time Criminals.
I thought the trailer was a bad look, but after seeing how neat the character creator was (asymmetric editing?!), I'm saddened the game fell to the low expectations I originally had.
4 was way better than 3. Anyone saying otherwise is just flat-out wrong. Better story, more activities, less repetitive mission, more customisation options etc. IV is on par with 2 for me personally in terms of quality. That's not to say 3 was bad, it was a great game in its own right. The reboot is the first below-par Saints Row unless you count the GOOH expansion from 2015.
Choosing between Diablo Immoral and Saints Row is like choosing between Alzheimer's and cancer, the details are different but the end result is the same.

Have you character make a quip about how B.S that is before going off to rob a bank to pay it off, and that is it.

the truly sad part about this is that GTA 6 is still years away, this could have been the game that redefined Saints Row (as a reboot should) and have it finally step out of GTAs shadow while bringing in a new generation of fans and finally giving GTA and Rockstar some competition, but instead they decided to take zero risks and made the worst Saints Row game which will probably kill the series.

Just because you started at Saints Row 3, never played the first two, and enjoy Twitter writing, doesn't mean the rest of us are going to pay $60 for it.

Saints Row developers love removing content each game instead of keeping them and just adding each game. They been doing it since Saints Row 2.
Gat has been one of the best characters in gaming history in my eyes. He's been a fucking powerhouse and a joker through it all. The characters in this new saints, johnny would have broke their necks. Its just not the same as it should have been. Rebooting was the dangerous part, and honestly I would have prefered a remaster of the first 2
They’d ruin the games and make the older ones harder to acquire gta style. Be careful what you wish for.

I'm sure, at some point, new creative people will come with ideas they made out of love of creativity rather than the financial calculations... it's like a cycle: start fresh with ideas and standards, get greedy, sacrificing quality for profits, and fall into history. At least, I hope it does function that way...

Just wait what Rockstar is going to do with GTA 6 now they even have a monthly subscription for GTA Online

Yea the nemesis system was patented by Warner bros
@@jo_da_be._.1629 Greatest system ever but they decide not to make any more games they could at least sell it off
They put a patent on it but Ubisoft found a work around with the Mercenary/Phylakes/Zealots system in the New AC games. 2025 the Patent will be up maybe other games can use it
@@jo_da_be._.1629 whats the nemesis system
IV was perfectly fine. It definitely gets more hate than it deserves.

Mainstream AAA titles being unfinished, gutted, hollow experiences wearing the lifeless skin of formerly great franchises objectively providing worse content than PS2 titles? Wow. That's crazy.
Idk of Volition is AAA. They've always been AA-adjacent. They've never had access to the same amount of capital or resources as a Rockstar.
Tripple A is just another word for dog shit at this point. Everything that was "great" about any franchise is now just not there. Gone because game companies dont care about making a good game. Instead they care more about making money. They dont care about putting out buggy half baked unfinished mess.

Best criticism without being cringe like how Muta behaves at the start of the video

Saints Row up to the last one: Hardcore, full-time, goofy-ass gangsters
Saints Row 2022: Part-time criminals, with apparently billions in student debt.

Saint's Row 2 and 3 were fantastic for me. 4 was great when you didn't have to deal with how hard they tried to make the game "different".
At least they tried...
