Absolutely awesome video. One of the best discussions on the “ why and how” for upholstery threads and machine set up basics. Thanks!

Very nice. I've kinda standardized on 135 myself. Interesting idea to use smaller on the bobbin.

The thing with the felt just above the needle is a thread lubricator. You can look up thread lubricant and how it's used / where to get it.

Great explanation of the numbering scheme differences in thread sizes. What you eluded to, but never expounded upon was the thread sizes in correlation to the capabilities of different machines. For example: that little domestic Brother machine that you first started out on is likely well within it comfort zone using the 40 thread, while it is probably at it’s upper limits with a 69 thread. In contrast with your Consew, using that 40 thread is probably not gonna put it in it’s happy place. However, using the 69 thread on the Consew is likely the best starting point for that thread size on an industrial machine. Whereas the 92-138 are probably more normal sizes for that Consew to handle.
I do believe that your Consew should be able to handle thread sizes upwards of 207 etc… My question is why is it that you don’t use any of the larger sized threads? ✌🏾

Well put, I briefly touched that and should have elaborated I'm glad u could fill in the gaps. I personally don't like the look of the bigger size threads and that's based on the proportion. Like I was saying I dont want the thread to look like yarn or a "shoe string" however I have seen it so some people like it, but it can be too bold I'm not opposed to it just depends styles and designs change and come back and flip so I may incorporate that. I'll definitely take a second thought about it before I consider the game plan for a set now, just bc u said something.🙏💪💯

For a home machine 68 is gonna be the limit because at 69 he eats it and she blows a rod.

Thank you ! I appreciate you . I’m using a regular standard to sew some canvas together. To make a jacket . Will the 40 size work or do have suggestion.

@@billyblastcustomupholstery279 Hi. I am sewing denim jeans mid to heavyweigh. In terms of threads, I'm using a Perma Core tkt 36 (tex 80) What thread size should I use for my looping thread?
I've also been told to use tkt 27/25 (tex 100/105) for my denim jeans with tkt 50 looper thread. Is that accurate?

    • @djokicmetamora

Pull top thread to the back ,hand tie two box knots, melt thread tags with lighter. Cleaner looking than reverse stiching in my opinion.
