That’s also the reason why in sonic boom sonic has blue arms, cause the developers wanted sonic to look more human like.

I always loved how the sonic movie design kinda nods to the connected-eye thing by putting some white fur in-between his eyes near where it would be connected.
I’ll admit. I can’t really make heads or tails of it, like it looks ok but I remember a problem someone had said, that being the arms have to look differentiated so that it doesn’t blend with the rest of his body during gameplay. But I think the movie and the games designs should stay separate as an example of movie stylization helping with designs at times. I mean I wouldn’t mind Sonic rocking new shoes shaped like the puma ones, just don’t have it be advertising, be a natural progression of character design.
The one detail about the movie design I respect the most is even though they separated the eyes, they still decided to put a pinch of white fur between Sonic's eyes as a nod to the game design. Love it.
The mono-eye would make him clash against the real people he is along side. They brought it as close to human as they could go without overstepping into uncanny like the original design of movie sonic.
I'm used to movie Sonic's actual design. It's still Sonic, his arms are just blue, and his eyes are fine. I don't get why some people like to prefer the other Sonic design and implement it into the movie one. You could recognise Sonic in a picture even if it's a different design 😂.
The main reason why i think that the tan arms look weird in edits is because it remains as fur rather than skin. Also it kinda clashes with how realistic his face looks rather than cartoony. The sonic fan film has a great design with the tan arms and connected eyes.
Simply put, the actual design is perfect for the game. As an artstyle. The movie design is perfect for the movies, because it’s a “realistic” take. And if you switch both, it just won’t look right.
I think he looks good enough to work in life action. Like, one issue with the first design in the trailers is that they tried too hard to make it more realistic, but didn’t think about Appeal and accuracy to the game version that people are satisfied. Which thankfully they listened to that
Sonic has a little bit of white fur where the connected eyes section would be making it look both somewhat accurate and not horrifying, and also this is a unique version of Sonic, it doesn't have to match an already existing version of Sonic 1 to 1

Excellent video. Not bashing on the photoshop creator, complimenting the effort, explaining why it doesn't work in a clear and concise way, good editing, and the video is just as long as it needs to be. A+.
Honestly? Yeah, every design has its purposes, the version with the tan arms works to draw attention towards the arms (same way the red shoes bring attention to the feet, by simply contrasting with the blue), because the focus is Sonic's limbs in the games, where the action happens. In a movie, where they're stopped and there is dialogue, they would stand out like a sore thumb, but that cant be because the attention has to be in Sonic's eyes and mouths in these scenes. I think its just like he said, each design works for the world they're in and what works in that world, and they still tried to keep some of it by having the light fur on the eyes, overall I prefer the movie version more, I agree with you on this one.
Boom show or games? Cause the show was great, the games were garbage. Also Sonic was originally ment to have blue arms, but since hardware was so limited back then that the blue arms just blended in with his body, so they switch to tan so it would stand out.

I think part of the reason that the blue arms only really works for Movie Sonic is because of the realistic fur texture. In the games, everything has much less fidelity. While Sonic usually has some sort of flat fur texture, the blue sort of just looks like a flat, plastic blue. If his arms were also blue, they would blend into his body extremely easily, especially because they're so thin. This would be even worse in 2D. In the movies, the fur actually helps break up the edges of his arms and body, so it's easier to read his arms and body as separate despite being the same color. Making them blue also helps with the continuity between his arms and body and consistency across the rest of the cast. Tan arms might look okay if they extended his stomach patch onto his shoulders, but I think Movie Sonic already looks great.
