  • If you're having low compression on your 2.0 turbo engine, thoroughly check your valve springs first! It may not be a cracked piston, which is outlined in the GM service bulletin.

Going to have to look into this, I have a 2016 regal with a 2014 motor in it. It’s had pretty bad oil consumption and it finally crapped out on me at 160k miles.

Similar story in my case right now hoping this will be the issue. Started out with a misfire in cylinder 4, shop changed plugs and coils which fixed the issue for some time but then I had gotten a misfire on cylinder one and took it back and they said the spark plugs had been fouled so they replaced them once again this time to oem and now I’m getting misfire on cylinder one which has the lowest compression all other cylinders are at 70-100 psi. Oil has been spitting out of the exhaust I believe, really hoping it won’t end up needing a full rebuild.

70-100 is still low. It should be closer to 150.

@@arrondentinger2086 I am aware of that, that’s why I’m leaning towards thinking its probably something worse.

@@magnellseth could be the rings getting worn out. How many miles are on the car?

@@arrondentinger2086 Sitting at right below 106,000 miles. But yeah my first initial thought was worn down/blow ringland.

@magnellseth All things considered that is very low. Mine had 135,000 when I tore it down and the cylinder walls still had the cross hatch in it and the compression was at 145-150 on the good cylinders. Could be something else but it sure does sound like an issue with the rings. I hope you are able to figure it out.

It really depends on their labor rate but I would guess somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 give or take.
