Back in the late 80s when I was an apprentice at the dealer, there was a commercial on TV extolling the virtues of plastic. They ended the commercial with the phrase "Take a new look at plastic." Whenever some plastic widget or trim piece would snap, my mentor would say "Take a new look at plastic." 🤣🤣 I've kept up the tradition.

It is sad that GM's quality has continued to decline. Nice informative video. 👍🏻 🐶🙂

Not sure if it’s the case with them all, but had it not been for the $4K bumper to bumper 100K mile warranty I bought with my 2012 CTS (3.6L), I’d be homeless right now. The following was replaced before hitting 100K miles: transmission, torque converter, high and low pressure fuel pumps, entire steering column, radio, back up camera, alternator, 4 out of 16 ECU modules, front struts/mounts, both front hub assemblies and all the labor that came along with that. According to dealer invoices for all the warranty work, $47K. Every time I start that car, I get heart palpitations. I plan on trading it as soon as I find a decent deal on a Toyota passenger car.

Yeah. I have the 2003 CTS with the 3.2L V6. All the plastic lines on it have crumbled to nothing. I have been replacing them as necessary because I would easily have $500 or more just in plastic tubes if I changed them all at once. After I perform all the repairs and get ready to sell it, I’ll put all new lines on it then.

What do you think of the Northstar engines?

This is why I don’t use dress cover on top of engine. Retains heat causing plastic to crack

We call these Cadillacs ,... well "Vac i Lac" . as they always lacking vacuum because of faulty plastic hoses ,it runs across other GM lines as well.....they seriously need to recall or change the parts suppliers & vendors who manufacture these parts ....

Cadillac probably saved $3 by using plastic instead of metal 😮

Never cared for Cadillac because it is always an "experimental" division of G.m.... So many crappy engines used in Cadillac starting back 40 plus years ago using "4-6-8" which d.o.d. is still not perfected 1/2 century later: H.T. 4100 which was abominably horrible with overheating.... Lol, go to the dealership in 1985 with an overheating 4100 Eldorado & they sold you compacted sawdust wood pellets as a fix. 4.5 was half way ok along with 4.9... for the short time 4.9 was doing good guess what, they discontinued it and sold the public with dereded 4.6.. Fast forward to their 2.0 & it looks like a mechanics's nightmare to work on with plastic this and that. Boo hoo.....

What a PITA chasing that down. And the labor cost isn’t a cheap thing these days diagnosing the actual problem!
