1:15 An Adze is actually a woodworking tool, usually used to remove bark from large logs. The method of use does seem similar to using a hoe, however. Just do it to a log and strip off the bark. And the Longbow of the Healing Hearth is almost the Ranger's bow from the D&D cartoon. :D
I'd like to call out the Stonebreaker's Breastplate. Note the description says "resistance to bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage," not "resistance to bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage from non-magical sources." Meaning that wearing this breastplate renders you resistance to those damage types, even from powerful spells or magic weapons.
I would love to see artifacts that require attunement with an ultimate ability that un-attunes for d6 days or until the character succeeds in an attunement roll (based on a stat of the artifacts "choice"). One correction, the wording on the whip says invoking the rune increases the fire damage by the whip to 2d6. So 1 time per day you spend your reaction for 1d6 extra damage.
I would think that would be a typo/editing error, otherwise it really should be a more common magic item than it is. I feel like most DMs would be fine with it being ruled as an extra 2d6 on top of the base damage
Those Wrymweaver gauntlets have Astral Monk written all over them. Good lord! 1d6 force is consistent damage output A couple rounds of setup, but invoking the runes in a pinch during a longer or multi part fight could be a turnover point.
I said the same thing @David25512 I wonder would you be able to use flurry of blows with the astral arms and the ruin invoked on top of your regular fists lol. You'd be like asura lol
Force sculpture won't make a visually identical replica, it's still transluscent. Of course, if what you need is to avoid triggering a pressure plate when you steal an idol in a templet... it will be the correct weight! Still I do think it's interesting, they mention a surface or liquid that can support it - and my immediate thought is you could copy a boat. Say you need to cross a lake, river, etc and don't own a boat and don't want to steal one. Just copy one, you can even copy a few so the whole party can cross without overfilling one. It might also work on keys, which should just need to have the right shape, and it should work on non-magical weapons if for some reason that were needed. You could also make some interesting traps by replicating some container, filling it with something dangerous, and dismissing it as an action to release the contents - or just have an 8 hour fuse on whatever it is. You could also just replicate a big rock or something to block something off. You could also use it to create some cover before a battle: just have a big steel plate and a way to prop it up, keep it in your portable hole. Before battle, you create up to three duplicates that are immune to all damage and place them where needed, put the original back in the hole. Honestly I think you could cheese the crap out of the damage immunity. What if you went into a room, took the door off its hinges, and replaced it with a duplicate with some other duplicated object barring it from opening. Now you have an impenetrable door that you can open easily, but nobody else without disintegrate can. The "you can create up to three copies" part doesn't say they are the same item, so you can create a set of items that work together like the door and the bar. Anyway, I think the fact that there's no just obvious perfect usecase is the whole advantage of the item - it's incredibly open-ended and abusable which makes should make it an absolute blast to play with.
Bigby's Beneficent Bracelet - Force Sculpture gives you the Creation Bards 14th level ability. The best thing to use this for is you can create costly spell components for a longer time than a bard can create them. It even makes the "Awaken" spells 8 hour threshold. So you could over time make a small army of Tree Ents in the forest and become the great tree herder of the forest. Cast True ressurection without spending the 25,000 gp.
I always love new Artifacts because sometimes they're really easy to nerf to a Rare/Very Rare/Legendary Like the Bigby's Beneficent Bracelet. Get rid of the Properties, give the conjured item hit points instead of immunity, and nerf the free Bigby's Hand a bit and that's a solid non-broken item imo
I’m really glad they are finally letting us use hit dice with magic items, and removing the concentration on these magic items, and I wish we’d finally get Psionics back in the game
More magic bows! Most weapon enchantments don't apply to ranged weapons and too many magic bows are very rare and legendary. That's why my ultimate arcane archer build took 2 levels of artificer first. (To get cantrips I can use with my bow as an arcane focus and for the repeating shot infusion: which makes the longbow magical (+1) and has unlimited arrows) If there were lower level magic bows, I could focus on AA more.
I wasn't initially interested in this book at all because I felt fizbans missed it's mark. But now I'm going to pick this up for the Magic weapons that aren't swords
One thing i felt was fun for Bigby's Beneficent Bracelet was to give it to a Barbarian so they could summon it before raging, they can use their bonus action to command the hand because theres no concentration to be maintained.
I'm giving my Barbarian player that Bloodshed Blade, that's so cool. It's perfect for Barbarians, it fits thematically and they generally have good constitution. And adding fricking d12s to attacks and damage is badass. Just remember: You only regain up to HALF your hit dice on a long rest - so your level eight Barbarian could use eight of them, but they only get 4 back when they rest.
Dude I just wanna say thank you for going over all the books in depth. As a DM I am always looking for new ways to surprise and/or reward my players, so having you make all of it so much more consumable is a huge help. Keep it up my guy, imma keep watching😂✌🏽
The harp of gilded plenty gives high level bards with 20 Charisma a minimum result of 18 on counterspell/dispel magic checks. I know the numbers are funnier with deception checks (minimum 27 is silly) but the ability to unfailingly block and remove up to 8th level spells with a 3rd level slot is wild. If you manage to increase your Charisma to 22, that's the ballgame. No Wish is safe.
Create an impassible chunk of wall that's immune to damage to block a corridor. Take a long rest safely. create a cart or wagon. A 10ft bridge. An unbreakable coil of rope. A suit of armor (not sure how to stat that). A boat. A large hamster ball. A weapon immune to rust monsters and black puddings. A vial, jar, jug, barrel, or vat that could hold any substance for 8 hours. Nice for time released acid, poison, or whatever. Endless possibilities.
@@matthewowen7330 You do need something to copy, so the bridge might be an issue as in most cases that you would need it the implication is that there's no bridge. Though you could use it to replicate a 10 foot branch and then since it's immune to damage you could cross it without fear of it breaking.
The Bloodshed Blade doesnt have anything on it that would stop it from being converted to something like a battle axe. Also Ring of Amity + Bloodshed Blade + Divine Smite or Sneak Attack, sounds like a pretty nasty combo to get hit with.
I immediately loved the Bloodshed Blade and went to show it to my friends who play DnD. I run my own campaign naturally but play in one of theirs and wanted to use it. They told me in no uncertain terms could Bloodshed Blade exists as it currently does. Any ideas on how to fix it to make it "less" powerful?
Mistral Mantle seems great for an Ashardalon's Stride build. Use tempest cleric and some metamagic to make it deal lightning damage. On your turn move around the battlefield knocking everything prone and pushing them around while dealing a bunch of damage, then ready an action to dash when one of the enemies stands up.
Force Sculpture's real potential comes, I think, in how far you can stretch the functional definition of object. Non-magical doesn't mean non-technological, and while claiming you've made a nuclear warhead is probably beyond the pale, a cannon is probably entirely fair. If your DM approves, say, a grandfather clock, then a clockwork battering ram should also be within reason. Think of how much tension you can get from a spring that's immune to all damage. An indestructible bowl with a 10' diameter may not have a lot of uses, but it can hold a 10' sphere that mimics the size and weight of osmium. That would be 334,764,592 pounds. The fun begins when you dismiss the bowl.
Remember that you need something to copy off of. It's still super useful for a clever player, but it's not entirely broken since you can make something that doesn't already exist. And if it exists, you need a good reason to make a copy of it rather than just using the thing itself.
The Pyrite Plesiosaur seems very powerful as an Uncommon magic item, especially compared to the rare Kyanite Pteranodon. I know flight is good but the plesiosaur can even be used more often.
I believe that due to the wording of the Bloodshed Blade's rune, it does not double on a critical. "Spend and roll any number of your unspent Hit Dice and add the total rolled to the weapon's damage." This matches the wording of a handful of other things that do not technically add a die to your attack's hit, but instead has you roll the die to determine a total "flat" bonus added, and thus doesn't double on a crit.
It adds to weapon damage, critical hit doubles weapon's damage dice rolled. If it was something like "after that attack hits, you can spend hit dice and deal that amount of damage to the target", then it would be separate instance of damage not increased by crit.
Critical Hit: Roll all of the attack’s damage dice twice and add them together. Bloodshed Blade: spend and roll any number of your unspent Hit Dice and add the total rolled to the weapon’s damage Sneak attack: Once per turn, you can deal an extra 1d6 damage to one creature you hit with an attack Smite: expend one spell slot to deal radiant damage to the target Idk man, I don't see how "add to the weapon's damage" is somehow different from Sneak Attack of Smite. In fact, if one were to argue about what does or doesn't count in a crit, I would argue Bloodshed Blade is the one that crits and the other two don't. But they do. In all three cases, these dice are part of the attack's damage, so they should be doubled.
@UmekCrafter Yes, it does add to the weapon's damage rolled. But it does NOT add dice to the weapon's damage rolled. The phrasing is very specific here. You roll the dice and get a number. That NUMBER is what you add as bonus damage. That is completely different from the phrasing of abilities that actually add the dice to the pool of damage you deal. There are other abilities in the game specifically worded this way to make it so you can add a die of damage without allowing it to double on a critical hit. Artilerist Artificer's level 5 ability is specifically worded in this way. The Wildfire Druid's 6th level feature is also worded similarly, though adds that the number rolled can be added to healing as well. Path of the Beast at level 14, same thing. These wordings are different and very specific compared to anything that simply adds dice to the pool of dice that the attack deals. They very specifically call out that you are adding the NUMBER ROLLED to the attack's damage, and not the die itself. Is this intuitive? No. Is it conveyed well? God no. Is it even necessary? I don't think for the examples I listed it is, but I know there are more I'm struggling to find where it very much makes sense why they wouldn't want the die to double on a crit... such as for a weapon that could let someone add 20d12 to an attack, to not let you double that to 40d12. However, it is very clearly the intent, as the wording is so specific and different from other abilities like Smite and Sneak Attack that actually add the dice to the damage dealt, and not a number generated by a die added to the damage dealt.
@Lord_zeel It is NOT "add to the weapon's damage" that makes it different it is "Add THE NUMBER ROLLED to the damage." This specific phrasing states that the order of operations is; Roll the die > determine the number > add that specific number as a bonus to damage. Abilities like Smite and Sneak Attack simply add dice to the pool of damage dice the attack deals. This weapon's specific phrasing, as well as a few other features and items in the game, word it in this way to have it be a variable bonus that does not double on a crit. As I said before, is it intuitive? Not really. Conveyed well? Not at all. Even neccesary? Maybe for some of the abilities they do this to, but definitely not all. Though I am willing to bet my books on that being how it works, as to why the phrasing is so specific here.
wait wait wait the force sculpture feature is super powerful! you can create wall of force essentially with this for free. the object is immune to damage. its translucent so you can teleport past it but otherwise you cant do anything about the wall in front of you except hope disintegrate or find a way around it.
I might be wrong, but I'm wondering if the runes on these items can be used to activate the abilities from the Rune Shaper feat or the Rune Knight rune carver ability because both have a wording along the lines of "When you have a rune inscribed on an object you are wearing or carrying"

This is how many magic items should have been in Fizban's, granted I think the lack of Subclasses was a negative. It is like WotC simply refuse to make a good supplement. They want to ration content when content is only limited by imagination.
DDDDUUUUUDDDEE! Those Gauntlets? knocking a creature prone on a opportunity attack? Throw Sentinel in there and now every melee attacker has AUTO advantage! Okay sure it would rarely proc because of opportunity attack but come on...
Did you ever do one of these videos for the Book of Many things? Looking for it I just struggled to find one, fair enough if you didn't given the amount of items in it.
Assume Babarian (highest Hit Dice), they would have 17+((7+5)x19)+(2x20)+(10+20), make them a Dwarf for another +20 and you have roughly 335 Hit Points
Yeah, I think it was designed for Barbarian but a Paladin would get some use too. Though Champion Fighter with their improved critical range would also be great.

This is how many magic items should have been in Fizban's, granted I think the lack of Subclasses was a negative. It is like WotC simply refuse to make a good supplement. They want to ration content when content is only limited by imagination.
The Ring of Amity makes me think they're slowly making Luz Noceda the best build in the game.
You've misread the whip. It says raise the damage of the whip TO 2d6, not BY 2d6.
bloodshed blade with conquest paladin YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!
DDDDUUUUUDDDEE! Those Gauntlets? knocking a creature prone on a opportunity attack? Throw Sentinel in there and now every melee attacker has AUTO advantage! Okay sure it would rarely proc because of opportunity attack but come on...
Do not like swords? Give the ability to any weapon you like. A mace of sharpness might be a bit confusing though,
Claws should be temmursense not blindsense
Good point, but blindsight is generally the stronger of the two.
Im excited and surprised that have a unique magic firearm.
Did you ever do one of these videos for the Book of Many things? Looking for it I just struggled to find one, fair enough if you didn't given the amount of items in it.
here a idea just change the sword part into a other weapon
Right, so why didn't WoTC just say "any weapon that deals slashing damage" or something.
An Adze is a tool for working wood, not earth
So rogue sneak attack + bloodshed blade + crit.
Still waiting for my preorder copy
If a player has 20 con, tough and armor of safeguarding can we calculate the hp amount?
Assume Babarian (highest Hit Dice), they would have 17+((7+5)x19)+(2x20)+(10+20), make them a Dwarf for another +20 and you have roughly 335 Hit Points
Bloodshed Blade+Paladin=CritNuke (also Barbarian).
Barbarian was my first thought.
Yeah, I think it was designed for Barbarian but a Paladin would get some use too. Though Champion Fighter with their improved critical range would also be great.
Adze is a carveing tool
Pathfinder content, please
Working on joining a Pathfinder stream soon, so more to come!
Damn, I was the 68th like. Next person gets a treat
almost all of those magic items are boring. i dont see how "you have more HP" or "you can cast this spell" or "you deal more damage" is unique.
What exactly are you expecting?
@@Lord_zeel im expecting at least something for a book i might be going to buy. first we got only one boring subclass instead of 2 and now they reskin old magic items and put them in one book. even the feats are boring.
@@fred-lolhow can one man be so wrong
@@jakeneville363 care to explain? i just dont see why i should by a 60 dollar book for boring items

A little disappointed in the item list, besides the paint and +hp armor there's nothing I wouldn't have just written myself.
1st? 😮
I can see the wyrmreaver gauntlets being very interesting for a way of astral monk. You'd have basically 6 fists to use once you're at a higher level and fury of blows lol someone test this out.
