Johnny Depp's attorney torpedoes Amber Heard witness testimony with rapid-fire objections

  • Johnny Depp's former attorney Adam Waldman attempted to give a deposition in the actor's defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard. Throughout the testimony, Depp's attorney objected and instructed Waldman not to answer questions because it violated attorney-client privilege. Heard has countersued Depp, claiming that comments made by Waldman, while representing Depp, calling abuse allegations a hoax was defamatory towards her.

      Donate is a verb.
      Pledge is a noun.
A pledge is a PROMISE to pay. A donation is the ACTION of paying. She DID NOT PAY the $7 million however you'd like to colour it. Until $7 million is actually donated, she has not fulfilled her obligation. The problem is she was on TV within months of her divorce being settled saying she donated it all ALREADY. In the payment schedule set out on their Separation Agreement, the date she was on TV saying she "donated" it all, it hasn't even been PAID to her in its entirety yet.
She wanted the positive PR and to look good but didn't want to spend money to do it.

I will say that from what I’ve seen elsewhere asking similar questions (same question worded different) is a valid tactic to get the witness to slip either with a different answer or answering a question they didn’t want to answer. The problem here is twofold, first are the massive amount of lies amber seems to have told her lawyers ahead of time. The second is that they seem to be terrible at getting those lies out though regular questioning. The only thing they can think to do is violate the rules of the court or apparently watching this make others violate the law. (Edited for grammar, I think I got it)

    • @beeirving783

Actually they’re being paid by their client in civil cases. I’m sure in this case both parties are suing the other for attorney fees. Nevertheless, the attorney is still wasting Amber’s time (which both sides agreed to limit to a certain amount of time) and her money. I mean she asks a question and it’s objected to, in fact she knows the witness can’t answer because she moves on without the judge ruling on the objection. She then proceeds to ask basically the same question but about a different situation and/or circumstances. If I’m Amber, I’m calling a timeout because I want to know why are we asking things we know he can’t answer? Isn’t there something else they can do which is more useful of their time and resources?

Because each of those questions s are a clear topic of communication between johnny depp and his lawyer based on his answer. He's consistently reiterating that he can't answer that specific question because it falls under attorney client communication. That means they talked about it, likely in the respective timeline she's trying to establish. It isn't a game of connect 4 where whoever gets 4 objections in a row wins. It's a bit more nuanced than that. She's building a narrative.

She has no choice since Waldman’s statements are precisely the reason for AH’s counterclaim, they have to basically prove that Waldman was instructed by Johnny to say those things about AH on Twitter/press but they literally cannot get even a peep out of him bc of attorney-client privilege. The thing also is Elaine keeps asking the same questions differently which still are objectionable lol basically she sucks. No way AH can win the counter claim, it’s just impossible and laughable.

really the judge in this case is more a referee in the game, there to make sure the players don't get out of hand, at the end of the day it more so digs into the defense's time what they waste with these "witnesses" than it does the Plaintiff's time, so more or less really the defense is shooting themselves in the foot as they waste their own valuable hours (ie why Rottenborn was wanting to rush Plaintiff's witnesses because he was trying to save as much Defense's time as possible whilst not letting the other team score points)
tl:dr;, theyre really screwing themselves over and these ridiculous "witnesses" of theirs and such mostly just possibly annoy the Jury (the actual Scorekeepers of this game) more and more

Amber’s team are running down the clock because they know they don’t have a case. They’ve got about 9-10 hours left if that and even if someone is in the middle of answering one of their questions the judge has made it clear that she will stop them when the time is up. Johnny’s team still has a good few hours left, a lot more then Amber’s because they’ve not wasted any of their allotted time. But same thing applies to them once their time is up regardless if they are in the middle of something the judge is going to stop them when the alarm goes off saying they’ve ran out of time. I don’t think Amber’s team is going to have enough time for closing arguments because they’ve still got a week of questioning and more witnesses including recalling Johnny. Next week is the last week then it’s up to the jury. But going from Amber’s behavior, all the evidence proving she’s a liar along with all her witnesses. Her legal team screwing up multiple times and Johnny’s team absolutely destroying and discrediting every single one of Amber witnesses including Amber and her sister and the fact that she doesn’t have one piece of solid evidence to back up her claims she’s not going to win this. Amber alone has done enough to piss off the jury and on the second day of the trial it didn’t help that her legal team lied to the judge about one of Johnny’s witnesses while having someone with them who was posting live from the courtroom and the judge was livid about them lying to and misleading her. And her finding out what someone with them was doing and had security escort the woman out and not only banned her from the courtroom but the courthouse altogether.

There’s a specific amount of hours/time given to each side to ask questions. So, Heard’s side has to spin to their clock down, as they are being paid to do so on behalf of their lunatic. The judge already told them all, to get to it…because the time meter was spinning. Depp’s side had used up a bit more time than the other side when the judge informed them about the time usage numbers. This was just before they went out for ten days, the week before last.

A broken nose, also called a nasal fracture, is a break or crack in a bone in your nose - often the bone over the bridge of your nose. Your nose may look crooked, and you may have trouble breathing. Complications or injuries related to a broken nose may include deviated septum, collection of blood, cartilage fracture. It can be a big of a deal. Does Amber Heard have any scar tissues, or any medical records/evidence that can prove she underwent nasal surgeries? Not only would, almost, all his conversation and actions on behalf of Depp be privileged, but more than half these questions are hearsay. The only reason I can fathom for this wast of time is so that Heard’s lawyers could try to put in the minds of the jury that Depp instructed the witness to act on his behalf to, I don’t know, sue people related to this incident and make negative comments in the media. Honestly, I can’t quit grasp what Heard’s attorney must have stipulated as cause to subpoena one of Depp’s attorneys here. They gained no useful information and looked incompetent. But honestly I’m more frustrated that the judge allowed this.

I doubt you follow this case seriously, if you're a law graduate, or you'll understand everything at play here. She has a countersuit against Depp for things that this lawyer said when he was representating Depp. So they had to bring him in, even though he can't answer. Just enough to put things in the mind of the jury like you said.
I find that kind of tactic shady, but that's all they can do. How do you prove that it was Depp's words coming out of his lawyer's mouth, if he can't answer question ? Well you can't... So you try to manipulate the jury. The real mistake was the suit, knowing you have to go through a privileged witness to prove anything.

This entire thing is a mess. The divorce moving into this defamation trial. Honestly, I'm lost when this seems an ongoing divorce trial, rape trial, perjury trial, defamation etc... Amber Heard lying and lying some more really blew this past ridiculous.. 😒

AmberTurd is def my fave hashtag, it's so descriptive and accurate. Given the turd's central part in these proceedings, I think her pursuing this counter suit is going to end in such a huge case of Streisand-Effect that it will forever after be known as Streisand-Turd-Effect and quite possibly result in another defamation action against Heard by Streisand as a result of Streisand's name being forevermore associated with a turd which she herself never in fact pinched out. It's a fascinating legal dilemma which may yet set some significant precedents in the complex highly specialised field of turd law. I'm indeed myself observing with a tightly clenched ring here.

Entire video in a line, “I instruct you to not answer that question based on attorney and client privilege, I agree to accept the instruction 😂😂😂”

After 26 minutes of questioning and we have firmly established that the witness had Twitter account & now no longer has a Twitter account. 😂

Best comment in this. That's the only information I learnt through this 26 mins of my life. Additionally that he is banned for life. 🤣😂
