I bought one of these 6 years ago and I love it as much now as I did when it arrived. I was able to collect the accessories including the reflector, cleaning kit and cooking rail over the course of a couple of years and use it while camping (& during power outages) for heat, light and cooking. The Lodge 9.5 in round griddle actually fits perfectly inside the cooking rail. Genius design by the Japanese includes auto shut-off if the unit is tipped or unlevel. Hope you are enjoying yours as much as I do mine!
Thank you so much for sharing this and the kindness, I'm so happy for you ! I absolutely love mine as well , permanent part of my collection, have a great weekend 🙏 ❤️
Same thing as a Toyotomi "Rainbow." The really nice thing about them is that you can use an all-cotton wick, so you don't have to worry about dyed kerosene clogging up the wick.
Cotton wicks also clog up with dyied kerosene. I used it once and had to replace the wicks in 3 of my heaters at the same time. I WAS NOT VERY HAPPY ABOUT THIS!😠😠😠😠
@@colbolt54 One thing I learned about dyed fuels, is that there is no specific method they have to use. The way they check is after the fuel is diluted x times, and the color is still visible - but it's relatively vague. Therefore, dyed fuels are different from producer to producer. ALSO, the dye is added at the distribution point - not the refinery. Here in New Hampshire, I have used dyed kerosene from three different sources - one from Vermont. I've had zero issues with it on my all-cotton wicks. In your case - it actually sounds like you got a bad batch of fuel. Do you use a Mr Funnel or other filter? Did you try to use 91% isopropyl alcohol or de-natured alcohol to resolve the problem? Just curious. Again, in my experience - all-cotton wicks have been great. I am sitting here with a Perfection going next to me.
Well, if it were really bad, I would consider a sand and repaint , small areas I use a sharp flexible pick to scrape out the rust, and I try to keep the paint original and in tact . From there, you can use a rust inhibitor to stop the rust , brush it on, and only where you need it . The stuff I use is made by permatex , it goes on white like mild , dries clear but the rust area will be black
I have one of these I picked up at a thrift store. Looks like new. Works fine. If you could be so kind as to tell me if you know what size wick it uses I would be ever so grateful! I just want one as a backup but can't figure out which one it uses. I can't find one that matches any of the numbers on the side 😳🙏😀

I believe the Moon lighter is from the 80s , yes some parts are still widely available, here is an example heaterpartscentral.com/indoor-kerosene-heater-parts/misc-parts/?page=3
@@doinsngoins Well, friends say that I should have been an archaeologist because I like old things. But the truth of the matter which is undeniable.. the most reliable stuff is the old stuff. Except cars from the 80's weren't the most reliable. But cars from the 90's were... ... and they too are old. I just happened to stumble on your video and that heater is not the typical off-white kerosene heater. It's a small work of art. I dig it. May try sourcing one to add it to my collection of nostalgic old stuff.
@@Mr_BUSINESS_24_7 I agree and these are obtainable, if you see one grab it , also inspect the glass as sometimes people have ruined the rainbow to the glass , sorta prismatic, I stumbled on this one for 25$ as I recall , I would pay 100$ all day long however, ebay they go for $$$$
Also this one has a cool factor , however most Kerosun models are awesome, look out for the Sharp models also , I have a good video of my sharp posted here
@@doinsngoins thanks for your advice, i have tried soapy water and it still got a hazy look to it so I’m wondering if there is anything that could be used? or maybe I will have to stick to soapy warm water and persevere with it more… Also I’m from the U.K. and parts are hard to come by for it but I just managed to buy another secondhand glass for it just incase as might not get a chance to get another spare one.
@@darkshaman7087 is your globe clear glass or does it have a rainbow prismatic sheen to it ? Is you glass smooth , does it have what may be a coating on it ?
@@doinsngoins it has the rainbow sheen but also it’s got a slight cloudy white transparent haze to it, as we know using products could ruin the rainbow sheen but I’m thinking maybe a solution of white vinegar in water might help and should not damage the rainbow effect of the glass.
Cool looking heater when running but one of the dirtiest burning. Pretty much a copy of the old perfections. Non catalytic design. The newer dual burn designs were much cleaner burning and there was never any smell when running unlike these
Have you ever been around the double clean Toyostoves? Night and day difference between the flame spreader design of the moonlighter and perfection heaters and a catalytic design like the DC60/80/100

What paint is recommended to touch up small rusty spots on the stove ~ thanks

Often, I just stop there , you can go to a hobby shop and find some good color matches to touch areas up with a brush .
