Very well presented! I'm getting ready to attempt to resurrect my deceased grandpa's Omni 15 that's been sitting in his garage half full of kerosene for around 15-20 years and after watching this I have the confidence to do so!
Great video....clear, concise instructions, and the best part is having a young man do the work and learning how to use his hands and repair things. We now have a whole generation that know how to actually do very little....kudos to you for not only teaching but inspiring confidence in him to act independently. I have an Omni 105G that is close to 40 years old and still works like a champ.
Thank you for this excellent tutorial. I recently bought a moonlighter for 20 bucks and only needed a good wipe down and a wick. This was the first one I've ever changed and with your video it was a very smooth and easy process. Thanks again.
30 years or so ago, my dad sold these Kero-Sun heaters at his hardware store and I grew up with one in my bedroom all winter. I've inherited two and set about replacing the wicks. My handiwork was imperfect, so I sought help on TH-cam. Your excellent video has explained so many details to me! Thank you for the extra info about the mica window . . . I had no idea. Now I've ordered new wicks and windows on eBay and I am empowered by the information you presented and explained so clearly. Thank you for taking the time to create this video and aid this DIY lady.
Hillary Barber Thompson, maybe u might know more about the kerosun heater then I do.i lifted the wick & I see a rubber seal/ring just laying towards the bottom of the wick.seems 2 me it should be up top? Now I'm worried!!! where might I be able 2 buy that rubber seal? its 4 a kerosun box style heater.
Thank you very much for this video. I found one of these in my dads shed after he passed and this video taught me everything I need to maintain and use it. Thanks for passing your wisdom on to the all your viewers.
Hi from Surrey, England. I just got hold of an omni 15, somebody left it at my local dump. I'm so glad i found your video, very helpful and also relaxing to listen to you talkin away. If only you had a guitar and could sing , i would by your record haha Hope you and your family have a great christmas, i know it will be a warm one, sitting round the heater puffing away on the Marlboros, Adios, gracias hombre
Well thank you so much. This video was very well prepared and recorded. Great job you two. I can't wait to impress the gang with my newly acquired skill, that of kero-sun repair person! We found 2 good kero-sun heaters that will work so much better after a cleaning and wick change. These little heaters will make our work cabins so much more cozy.
great video! You explained everything perfect. I just pulled my Omni-15 down from the top shelf in my garage after forgetting about it for years. Broke it down, cleaned it up, and now works great again. Thanks!
Great video, I have a Kero-Sun Monlighter 895X. I have been curious on how to replace the wick. I just wish there was a place locally to get a replacement.
Or Toyostove "Rainbow" RB-2. There IS a disadvantage with the fiberglass wick - they don't like dyed kerosene. They'll clog-up, usually within 1 or 2 tankfuls of fuel. If you cannot get "clear" kerosene - then use the all cotton #4 wicks.
Cheers for the video but myself is sticking to the cotton wicks as many said that the fibreglass don't burn evenly also diesel and even veg oil can be used with the cotton wicks
Does the chimney have a lower ring inside? If so can you tell me which way its supposed to face? There is one side with a larger tab. Im not surewhich way its supposed to face.
Great video but, my wick adjustet will only lower the wick, it won't raise it? I think the teeth on the control rod are perhaps worn down.... Any idea where to get a new one?
Could anyone recommend a paint or primer to repair a rust spot on the fuel tank lip under the rubber packing and wick adjuster for a moonlighter. Thanks
How do I shut off A Kero Heat Heaters that does not shut off ? I tried shutting it off to the Shut off Manual and it is still running ? I tried the Adjusting Range But it is still going .
this video saved me alot of time. they are pretty simple to take apart but i have never run a K1 heater before and i bought a used one for 20 bucks and the wick was 15 bucks but my wick said to let it sit in the fuel for 2 to 3 hours before i lite it im still waiting so i havent even seen if it works good or not but thank you for the video great job
Non catalyst type heaters struggle to burn clean, the mica window seals in the heater's chimney thus keeping heat in, this helps the heater to burn cleaner. Using one of these heaters without its window, or without its chimney causes the heater to emit higher levels of carbon monoxide.
Hard to believe they are still using the same mechanism that was used on perfection heater. Same flame spreader same design. Depressing and disappointed

That helped me guys, thanks. Thumbs up for sure. Finally located the right wick for mine and it is purring away in the basement.
I inherited an Omni 105 that isn't heating properly. Your video has been very helpful.
Great video, I have a Kero-Sun Monlighter 895X. I have been curious on how to replace the wick. I just wish there was a place locally to get a replacement.

1st Rate Job! I am now schooled in moonlighter repair. (now if'n I could jus' quit drinkin cloudy Kerosene)

Thank you, this was very helpful!
Thank you! Your Video helped me.
Thanks I did it you guys are awesome so thank you!!!!
Can this heater be used in a tent?
It would not be advisable to use one of these heaters in a tent, they do emit carbon monoxide, and tents are also a fire hazard in themselves.
Good Stuff. Thanks!
I can’t find a wick anywhere
Any idea on the year/years Kerosun manufactured the Omni 15?
They are from the 70's
They are from the 70's
They are from the 70's
They are from the 70's
They are from the 70's
Very helpful--thank you.
Great video thank you
I ordered 2 and they didn’t fit
Well done Video ..thanks
thank you sir and your son thank yo
Don't remove the wick from the carrier over the base. All that debris falls into the well.
Thank you nice video will done.
Mine works fine without the mica window. And I use dyed kerosene.
